The event was graced by YB Tuan Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), who officiated the launch ceremony and shared insightful remarks on the growing potential of drone technologies in driving industrial and economic transformation. DronTech Asia 2025 stands ready to fuel growth not just for the UAV sector, but for Malaysia’s broader technology ecosystem — linking opportunities in advanced drone technology to our nation’s sophisticated semiconductor industry and beyond. 26 May 25. Europe increases its military capabilities resulting in the 33rd MSPO International Defence Industry Exhibition growing stronger. In the face of ongoing geopolitical tensions and rising defence spending in Europe, the 33rd International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) has further advanced to be one of the key industry events in this part of the world. From 02 to 05 September 2025, Targi Kielce will again become the presentation platform for modern military technologies, international expert meetings, and the signing of strategic agreements and arms contracts.

2025 MSPO facts and figures: Although the event commences in three months, over 400 companies from 31 countries have already confirmed their participation. They will use nearly 30,000 m² of exhibition space; the exhibition is housed in eight expo halls and outdoor exhibition grounds. This year’s expo has been granted the President of the Republic of Poland’s honorary patronage. The Polish Armaments Group continues to be the event’s strategic partner. The Ministry of National Defence, the Armaments Agency, and other military institutions support the event. Numerous foreign delegations have already announced their participation.

Europe increases military spending – MSPO in the spotlight: At a time of growing threats and ongoing destabilisation in Eastern Europe, NATO countries, including Poland, are significantly increasing their defence budgets.

“We witness the decade of intensive rearmament; MSPO fits perfectly into this trend. Our country is now allocating record funds – over 4% of GDP to develop its armed forces. This attracts the attention of producers, decision-makers and experts from all over the world,” says Doctor Andrzej Mochoń, President of the Management Board of Targi Kielce.

The exhibition is not only a place to present technological innovations but also a platform for strategic dialogue that reflects the current needs of allied armies. Modern Armed Forces Exhibition under the NATO banner: The 26th Armed Forces Exhibition will be held as part of MSPO 2025. The leitmotif is ‘Modern Armed Forces Create a Strong and Secure Future’. The exhibition, coordinated by the Inspectorate of Support for the Armed Forces and prepared with over a thousand Polish Army soldiers, offers the opportunity to present the operational potential, weapon systems, and modernisation achievements of the Polish army, which is part of NATO structures. The MSPO 2025 agenda also includes conferences, industry seminars and a visit of military attachés accredited in Poland.

Contracts, agreements and accolades: An essential element of MSPO – the best products and innovations in defence gain accolades granted by, inter alia

Award of the President of the Republic of Poland (the highest distinction of MSPO),
the Special Distinction of the Minister of National Defence
the Defender Award,
and numerous distinctions awarded by the Chief Commanders of the Armed Forces.

Following many-year tradition, important arms contracts and agreements are also expected to be concluded at the expo. Continued cooperation between the Polish industry and foreign partners also marks the expo.

30 May 25. IISS PUBLISHES SPEAKERS LIST FOR IISS SHANGRI-LA DIALOGUE 2025. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy for the European Union, Kaja Kallas are among the speakers confirmed for the IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2025. President Macron will deliver the Dialogue’s Keynote Address on Friday 30 May, while Secretary Hegseth will begin formal proceedings on Saturday 31 May. Ms Kallas will give her remarks in the First Plenary Session, also on Saturday. Later that afternoon, the Prime Minister will deliver a Special Address. 28 May 25. CANSEC 2025: Rheinmetall to display its military solutions to protect the Arctic. Rheinmetall is set to impress attendees at Canada’s foremost defence industry event by displaying the Rheinmetall Mission Master CXT with tethered drone integration as part of the Uncrewed Ground Systems (UGS) family. The Mission Master UGS family of products, fully developed in Canada and tested by Nordic countries, is well suited for Arctic operations. In addition to its UGSs, Rheinmetall will display its Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulator (HILS), so that visitors can witness the vehicles first-hand in a virtual, yet realistic environment.

Rheinmetall will also present its MSU-GP 200T Air Start Unit (ASU).

Rheinmetall Mission Master family

The Mission Master CXT is a compact cross-terrain amphibious UGS with extended range thanks to its hybrid configuration, featuring integration with a tethered drone. This variant provides surveillance and target acquisition capabilities.

Rheinmetall PATH A-kit: This world-leading autonomous system, which is AI-powered, is the key enabler for all Mission Master vehicles and is platform-agnostic, meaning it can be integrated on any military and commercial vehicle.

TAK integration: Rheinmetall can integrate the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK), including the development of tailored plugins to meet the most specific needs. Visitors will be able to test the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK), which is integrated on all Mission Master UGSs, first-hand at the indoor booth.

MSU-GP 200T: The MSU-GP 200T is the only turbine-powered ASU on the market. It is more compact and lighter than diesel engine units, making it easily sea- and air-transportable. Proven across the globe in extreme weather environments, the MSU-GP is both reliable and versatile. Visitors will be able to see this unique solution at the outdoor booth.

Common Heavy Equipment Replacement (CHER) project: Rheinmetall Canada will join forces with JCB and other OEMs in pursuit of Canada’s CHER project. This initiative will provide the Canadian Armed Forces with dependable and sustainable heavy support equipment for the next generation of deployable and effective earth-working and cargo-handling capabilities. The 3CX Compact Backhoe Loader from JCB will be on display at Rheinmetall’s outdoor booth.

Domestic Arctic Mobility Enhancement (DAME) project: Rheinmetall Canada will partner with UTV International in pursuit of the DAME project, which aims to provide the Canadian Armed Forces with a Canadian-developed and made high-mobility platform that can move personnel and equipment over challenging terrain in Canada’s Arctic. The “Voyager” from UTV International will be on display at Rheinmetall’s outdoor booth.

In light of this, we have invited the UK Crowd Management Association UKCMA | The UK Crowd Management Association to deliver a presentation on the legislation. As a key stakeholder consulted throughout the development of the Bill, UKCMA is well-placed to provide valuable context and share its insights into the anticipated direction of implementation and regulation in the short term, though it will not offer an official or binding interpretation.

Madrid hosted today the opening of the largest edition to date of the Spanish International Defence and Security Fair (FEINDEF), a strategic event bringing together 601 exhibitors and 93 international delegations in Halls 4, 6, 8, and 10 of Ifema. In its 66,690m², 67% more than the 2023 edition, 35,000 professionals are expected to attend, from May 12 to 14, in an exceptional setting showcasing, land, naval, and aerospace defence systems, cybersecurity technologies, artificial intelligence, drones, advanced simulation, and dual capabilities applied to the civil and military fields. A new pavilion, dedicated to static displays, showcases advanced military technology systems, cutting-edge equipment, and innovations in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and logistics. In addition, FEINDEF 25 attendees will experience firsthand land, naval, and air platforms, command and control systems, as well as advances in sustainability and technological duality applied to the field of defence and security. The second day of FEINDEF 25 focused on the transformation of the defence ecosystem through innovation, digitalisation, and the strengthening of strategic industrial capabilities. With a strong institutional and business presence, the programme brought together senior representatives from the Ministry of Defence, industry leaders, start-ups, and international delegations. Digital Defence and Industrial Capabilities: The morning began with a high-level panel on digital strategy at the Ministry of Defence, with the participation of Lieutenant General José María Millán Martínez (CESTIC), who detailed the advances in digitalisation, cybersecurity, and technological governance. This institutional vision was reinforced by the industrial focus shared by EM&E, which outlined its commitment to applied innovation and the integration of advanced technologies in complex operational environments.

In parallel, other panels addressed the challenges of investment and the industrialisation of critical capabilities. In this context, AMPER hosted one of the day’s key sessions, focusing on industrial organisation and cooperation within the national defence ecosystem. Its CEO, Enrique López, shared the company’s vision of the importance of generating collaborative, resilient, and technologically advanced structures that guarantee Spain’s strategic autonomy and its projection in Europe. Within this same framework, Navantia reinforced its role as one of the pillars of national technological innovation with the conference “Navantia: Spearhead of Innovation,” delivered by its president, Ricardo Domínguez. During his speech, Domínguez emphasised the strategic value of innovation as a driver of industrial sovereignty and as the backbone of major current and future defence programmes: “We have made the right decisions: investment decisions, R&D decisions, technological and industrial transformation decisions, and human capital decisions, all with the aim of being prepared to adequately respond to the challenges that lie ahead.”

Start-ups and major programmes share ground on the new industrial map: The second day also reinforced the role of start-ups and new entrepreneurial models in defence. In addition, panels focused on investment and international industrial cooperation were held, with the participation of leading companies. They emphasised Spain’s value as a key player in promoting a solid, inclusive, and technologically advanced European strategic autonomy.

Cybersecurity and Borders – Defence Also Plays a Digital Role: Hall 8 hosted an intense programme focused on cyber defence, with presentations and expert panels from the Joint Cyber Command, Thales, TRC, Accenture, Telefónica, and several European organisations. Sessions ranged from the protection of the digital domain to new models of deterrence in hybrid warfare contexts.

The Civil Guard panel also took place, focusing on comprehensive border management and operational cooperation with European agencies, with representatives from the European Commission and the Italian Guardia di Finanza. The comprehensive approach of these activities reinforced the geostrategic and technological dimension of the event.

The Land Operating Concept has Recce-Strike at it’s heart. Not a new concept, and being played-out in real-time today, yet one which is a departure from how the British Army saw itself operating previously. How can we harness existing technology to immediately tighten the kill-web?
What are the new equipment and emerging concept opportunities to ensure the close combatfight is weighted in the British Army’s favour?
Automation offers opportunity, but could also be an anchor. How do we ensure we automate the correct parts of the close fight at the right time?
Dismounted Close Combat remains an inevitable part of modern warfare. How do we layer effects and capabilities at small team and platoon levels to ensure overmatch against adversaries?
The digital kill-web is rapidly evolving; where should we be setting our sights in terms of capability milestones over the next 3, 5 and 10 years?
Much of what could be achieved is reliant on an unassured energy supply. What can be done to balance technology’s demand versus the force’s ability to sustain it?

Format

The event is planned to be held over three days.

1 July: Day 1, is at the Defence Academy of the UK in Shrivenham and provides insight from Army HQ and other customers on their intent for the future. This is supplemented by presentations from academia and industry
2 July: Day 2 takes place at Cranfield University’s COTEC range facility on Salisbury Plain. This involves live-firing demonstrations from industry as well as an opportunity for delegates to fire small arms from different manufacturers and with different optics and technologies. There is also the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate autonomous and remote technologies.
3 July: Day 3 is back at Shrivenham and provides more technology briefs from industry and academia.

09 May 25. The Spanish International Defence and Security Fair (FEINDEF) is gearing up. Just three days before its opening, Madrid is preparing to host the largest edition to date of this strategic event, which will take place from May 12 to 14 in Halls 4, 6, 8, and 10 at Ifema Madrid. With an exhibition area expanded to 66,690 m²—67% more than in 2023—and 601 confirmed exhibitors, 35,000 professionals and 93 international delegations are expected to attend.

FEINDEF 25 attendees will be able to discover everything from land, naval, and aerospace defence systems to cybersecurity technologies, artificial intelligence, drones, advanced simulation, and dual capabilities applied to the civil and military sectors. Pandora Project Live Service for Defence, International and Supply Chain Collaboration

Not SDR – the Industry view of capability planning to meet 2025’s challenges

This July’s annual Defence Information workshop – “A new era for Defence: what MOD wants from Industry; what Industry needs from MOD” – is an early opportunity to help shape the post-SDR relationship between front-line users of military capability and its industrial suppliers. With the actual SDR not now expected to report before June, we are planning a couple of, intentionally one-sided, seminar/webinars to collate an Industry view of what the capability element of SDR might contain if Industry were writing it.

Two sessions are planned for 1st May, 09:00-10:00 and 13:00-14:00 – each with the following outline agenda:

Introduction – to include the environmental changes driving the need for a new approach
Accelerated acquisition/procurement: responding to environmental changes and increased threat levels
Best-practice from non-Defence industries: eg health, oil & gas etc
Measuring agility as a KPI: agility more complex than company size
Implications for managing delivery risk: consequences of failure – benefits of success

Natural Capital & Infrastructure Community of Practice

The Natural Capital & Infrastructure Community of Practice (NC&I CoP) focuses on Natural capital, which is the world’s stock of natural resources, including geology, soils, air, water, and all living organisms. Some natural capital assets provide people with free goods and services, often called ecosystem services and Infrastructure – the basic physical and organisational structures and facilities (e.g. buildings, roads, power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.

Community of Practice (CoP)

Co-chaired by Industry and MOD, the CoP group of people who share a common concern, a set of problems, or an interest in a topic and who come together to fulfil both individual and group goals.

Communities of practice share best practices creating new knowledge to advance a domain of professional practice. Interaction on an ongoing basis is an important part of this.

The COP relies on face-to-face meetings as well as web-based collaborative environments to communicate, connect and conduct community activities.

28 Mar 25. Avalon air show saw booming attendance, despite DoD guidance restricting travel. Industry showed up in force at the show, boosting foot traffic for a well-attended air show. American officials, however, were reticent to engage with the press, in contrast to their Royal Australian Air Force counterparts. The largest air show in the southern hemisphere, Avalon, literally began with a bang as the Breaking Defense team walked through the entry gates. It was part of a running series of pyroctechnic, hair-raising displays mimicking close air support attacks and bombing runs by F/A-18s and F-35s, adding verisimilitude and a frisson of excitement for the enormous audiences at the show. Yet the maneuvers were also a reminder of the dangers pilots take on when they perform them: Today, the first day open to the public, a pilot performing aerial acrobatics in a single-seat biplane crashed into the ground. Rescuers pulled the pilot from the wreckage alive, who is in “serious but stable condition,” according to the AMDA Foundation, which organizes the show. While the air show may have been more dramatic than in other years, on the ground, the business of defense continued apace. According to organizers, attendance on Tuesday, the first day open to trade visitors, was 50 percent higher than opening day of the event’s last edition, two years prior. An extra exhibitor hall was even added this year to accommodate a growing number of international vendors at the show. Thankfully, at least for these reporters, the weather held out, where even overcast mornings gave way to bright, blue skies in an unseasonably warm beginning to Australia’s autumn. And in spite of an executive order from US President Donald Trump that has limited attendance for American military officials at major trade shows to essential personnel — who must be approved for exempted travel — American presence at the show was still relatively strong, if somewhat scaled back, compared to years’ past. Some of that could be attributed to logistics. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth‘s first swing through the Indo-Pacific region coincided with Avalon this year, drawing away Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) Commander Gen. Kevin Schneider, PACAF Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. Laura Lenderman told attendees during an opening ceremony for the show on Tuesday. Nevertheless, US officials did not participate in scheduled media engagements organized by the conference. Sources familiar with planning said that the size of the US delegation had been whittled down every few days in the lead up to the show, introducing an element of confusion and uncertainty to planning. According to a US Defense Security Cooperation Agency official, a dozen senior US officials attended along with roughly 100 US companies. US F-22s and F-16s made an appearance at the show as well. The general sense from industry attendees here seemed to be that although there may have been some impacts on US attendance, regional customers here in the Indo-Pacific still showed up in force.

“We’re finding Avalon to be busy with the customer engagements we were hoping to have,” one industry official told Breaking Defense on condition of anonymity to speak candidly. “While we’re always happy to meet with any and all customers when opportunities arise, we participate in regional shows to initially focus on key customers and industry in that region on their home turf. We’re also finding the global participation at Avalon to be growing, for example customers from Europe attending.”

Not much news was broken by US government officials at the show — owing in part, at least, to the apparent reticence of American officials to meet with the press. Industry largely filled the gap, making announcements such as the delayed delivery of ISR jets to Canberra, a plan to expand global energetics production and even a play to steal away work from homegrown drone wingmen efforts. In contrast to their American counterparts, senior Royal Australian Air Force officials did engage with reporters, including Air Vice-Marshal Glen Braz and Vice-Marshal Nick Hogan. It’s a rare time when normally secretive Australian defense officials speak in public more than their American colleagues, who are historically known for transparency and openness. The new addition will run alongside DSET’s main event which is scheduled for 8 – 10 July 2025 in Bristol, UK. It will offer a platform for expert discussions and insights into the protection of military personnel, information, and assets. The British Army Security and Cyber Conference is part to DSET’s aim to enhance defence technology, wargaming, and cybersecurity in response to growing global threats and complex operational demands. British Army chief security officer Kristina Evans said: “The British Army Cyber and Security Conference at DSET 2025 is a crucial step forward in addressing the evolving challenges of modern warfare. As cyber threats become more sophisticated, we must maintain advantage by fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuing to develop our skill and expertise across the Defence community. DSET, which marks its tenth anniversary this year, is a hybrid event brings together participants from the military, emergency services, and defence industries, aimed at enhancing training, cooperation, and robustness. It claims to have evolved beyond its annual gathering to become a year-round working community. This year, the event is expected to attract more than 2,000 international professionals from defence, government, academia, and industry. It is organised by Ruddy Nice. 25 Mar 25. Pretoria to host Cyber, Defence and Security 2025 forum with French industry. A dozen French companies will descend on Pretoria next month for the Cyber, Defence, and Security Forum 2025 that will showcase French aerospace, defence, and security expertise while pursuing opportunities for growth and investment in the region. Set to take place from 14 to 17 April, the forum is organised by Business France in collaboration with the Partnerships Office of the DCIS (Directorate of International Security Cooperation – French Ministry of the Interior), the Internal Security Service and the Defence Mission of the French Embassy in Angola as well as the French Embassy in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi. In announcing the event, French export and investment promotion agency Business France noted that Southern Africa, particularly South Africa, is emerging as a pivotal market for the cyber, defence, and security industries. “With its advanced defence sector and sophisticated security industry, the region presents significant opportunities for growth and investment. South Africa boasts the most developed defence sector in Sub-Saharan Africa,” Business France explained. The industry produces a wide range of combat systems, including rifles, armoured vehicles, artillery, military aircraft, naval ships, and missiles. As South Africa prepares to host the G20 in November 2025 and is reflecting on its candidacy for the 2036 Olympics, the needs for specific equipment and technologies becomes critical, Business France noted. These includes public order maintenance equipment; intervention vehicles and equipment; event preparation and security solutions; judicial police equipment; and training. On the defence side, requirements include aerial and terrestrial surveillance systems (radars, anti-aircraft defence systems, vehicles, etc.); helicopters; anti-poaching surveillance tools; drones and micro-drones; and training. Cybersecurity has become a critical issue in southern Africa, particularly in South Africa and Botswana, where cyberattacks on critical infrastructure have escalated in both frequency and severity. South Africa ranks among the top global targets for cybercrime, placing third in the number of cyber victims worldwide, eighth in ransomware attacks, and fifth in cybercrime density, Business France noted. The threat of cybercrime has been growing at an alarming rate. In 2022, South Africa’s Information Regulator recorded over 500 data breaches. By February 2024, this figure had increased to 1 700 incidents in a single month. Cybersecurity firm Kaspersky documented over 300 cases of ransomware attacks in South Africa in February 2023 alone, highlighting the vulnerability of businesses and government institutions. The financial impact of cyberattacks is also significant. Annual losses due to cybercrime are estimated at €137 m, with some government departments suffering substantial financial setbacks. The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, revealed that over the past decade, at least €15 m had been stolen through cyberattacks on his ministry. To combat the growing cyber threat, southern African nations have been enacting legislation to enhance cybersecurity protections. Malawi implemented a cyber law in 2016, followed by Botswana in 2018 and South Africa in 2021. Namibia is currently reviewing a proposed cybersecurity framework to strengthen its digital defences. Despite these efforts, there remains a pressing need for more sophisticated cybersecurity solutions, such as platforms for real-time information collection and reporting, advanced big data analysis and open-source intelligence gathering, as well as forensic and malware analysis tools to track cybercriminal activities, Forum organisers noted. The Cyber, Defence, and Security Forum 2025 will bring together a delegation of French companies specialising in defence, security, and cybersecurity “to collaborate and answer the industry’s specific needs”. These organisations will present a broad spectrum of expertise, ranging from military hardware to advanced cybersecurity solutions. Among the key participants is Airbus Helicopters, also the main partner of the event. Other participants will include Arquus, specialising in armoured vehicle production; MBDA – a world leader in designing and producing complex missile systems for land, air, and naval defence; Naval Group, focusing on shipbuilding and maritime security technologies; Eutelsat OneWeb (satellite internet solutions, which enable secure communication networks for defence and security applications); Exail (specialising in robotics, maritime, navigation, aerospace and photonics technologies); Gatewatcher (cybersecurity technology); Oppscience (Intelligence Analysis Management and data analytics for security operations); and Défense Conseil International, which provides consulting, training and technical assistance services. Further enhancing event security, Block’Axess will showcase its expertise in surveillance for public gatherings and high-risk locations. Codra will present its software platform for SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). The forum seeks to foster stronger partnerships between France and southern African nations in cyber, defence, and security. France has already established strong diplomatic and security ties in the region, with significant agreements reinforcing its commitment to collaboration. In 2023, a cybersecurity partnership was formalised between France and South Africa, leading to the establishment of a cyber school within South Africa’s Justice College. The event is planned to be held over three days.

* 1 July: Day 1, is at the Defence Academy of the UK in Shrivenham and provides insight from Army HQ and other customers on their intent for the future. This is supplemented by presentations from academia and industry.

* 2 July: Day 2 takes place at Cranfield University’s COTEC range facility on Salisbury Plain. This involves live-firing demonstrations from industry as well as an opportunity for delegates to fire small arms from different manufacturers and with different optics and technologies. There is also the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate autonomous and remote technologies.

* 3 July: Day 3 is back at Shrivenham and provides more technology briefs from industry and academia.

The 7th edition of SOFINS, a biennial trade show dedicated to the Special Forces of the Armed Forces, organised by Cercle de l’Arbalète [Circle of the Crossbow] for the benefit of the [French] Special Operations Command (COS), will bring together from April 1 to 3, 2025 in a secure location, representatives of the Special Forces from around sixty countries. For three days, VSEs, SMEs and large industrial groups will meet under the aegis of the Cercle de l’Arbalète to propose solutions adapted to the needs of special operations. An immersive military exhibition unique in the world: One of the specificities of SOFINS is the ability of visitors to be able to test in quasi-operational conditions the equipment and innovations presented by exhibitors. 300 exhibitors are expected on 10,000 m² for 2025 and the emphasis will be on French know-how and innovation. 7th Air Defence Gp and The Joint Counter-UAS Office are holding a Counter-Uncrewed Aerial Systems (C-UAS) exposition to discuss current and emerging technologies and strategies for countering UAS threats. The event will seek to clarify current and emerging Defence thinking and funded programmes and provide a forum for Industry to represent their approaches. This will develop the knowledge base and help fuel discussion points for future lines of effort for C-UAS measures. The exposition will be for MoD internal stakeholders, Home Office, and Industry with the purpose of discussing specific topic areas in depth with the opportunity to demonstrate equipment.

The JCO and 7AD Gp invites expressions of interest from attendees from companies specialising in and/or supplying equipment relevant to these C-UAS topic areas:

o Detection – Active and passive

o Situational awareness

o Planning support

o Command & Control systems

o Effectors – lethal/nonlethal and kinetic/non-kinetic

o Jamming

o RF

o Novel approaches

o Generalist and specialist capabilities

The exposition will be held on 16th July 2025 hosted by 7AD Gp at Baker Barracks, Thorney Island, PO10 8DH. Attendees will be provided with a standard sized ‘pitch’ indoors, with opportunities for demonstration of capabilities outdoors, if required. Further details and arrangements for the day will be provided later when the attendee list has been finalised.

The exposition is not indication of intent to place future work with Industry – it is an opportunity for Industry to support the work of MoD and Home Office stakeholders. It will not provide any new information on MoD procurement which will be managed separately and in line with UK government legislation and policy, as relevant.

Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB) and SAE Media Group announce that the opening ceremony of the Counter UAS Middle East & Africa 2025 conference will be held under the patronage of His Excellency Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces. The event, developed through a partnership between JODDB and SAE Media Group, is scheduled for June 30 – July 1, 2025, at the St. Regis, Amman, Jordan, and will be held under the patronage of the Jordanian Armed Forces. This landmark conference will gather senior government and military officials from the Middle East, Africa, and international allies, alongside industry pioneers and innovative technology providers to explore critical challenges and opportunities in the counter-UAS landscape across the Middle East and Africa. Enforce Tac, long established as the leading trade fair for internal and external security in Europe, is set to take place in Nuremberg for the 12th time [24-26.2.25]. With around 1,000 exhibitors in five halls covering some 50,000 square metres, the exhibition promises to set standards yet again.

This comprehensive industry event with renowned manufacturers not only offers visitors a display of the latest technologies but also a multi-faceted supporting programme featuring symposia, multilateral dialogue, exclusive VIP sessions and innovative trade fair formats.

At Enforce Tac 2025 there will be four new national pavilions: the Austrian Pavilion, the Norwegian Pavilion and pavilions representing Lithuania and Hungary. Likewise, the Norwegian Pavilion will bring together national players from the Norwegian defence industry for the first time. Enforce Tac Village – Live Demonstrations in a Discreet Atmosphere: The Enforce Tac Village will go into its second round – and this year it will be protected from the elements in Hall 8. The practical concept allows companies to demonstrate their products live in action in realistic scenarios involving suitably trained personnel. The focus is on the product presentation. Visitors can look forward to demonstrations including products from renowned manufacturers like CeoTronics, OBUV-SPECIAL, ESKA, Tasmanian Tiger, Taiga AB, SCHUBERTH, Axon Public Safety, WERO, Wiley X, Rheinmetall, Diehl Defence, md-textil, Nextorch, Thales and Marathon Targets. The importance of this format was highlighted by md-textil: “We are delighted to be taking part in the Enforce Tac Village for the second time and providing practical insights into our products,” says Marcel Doneth, Managing Director of md-textil. German arms manufacturers Rheinmetall and Diehl Defence are also using the Village to present their products live in action away from the stationary trade fair stands. A special networking event is being held on the second day of the fair, when Enforce Tac and its partners from the Enforce Tac Village host a “beer o’clock” from 16:00 to provide an informal opportunity for exchanges.

Hall 8 is also home to Enforce Tac’s newly created ‘JOB ZONE – MISSION READY FOR A NEW JOB‘. This section allows Enforce Tac exhibitors to post vacant positions at their companies and offers a space for potential discussions between the companies and prospective candidates.

Enforce Tac Stage – Innovations, Technologies and Current Developments: On the Enforce Tac Stage, visitors can look forward to a unique opportunity to access concentrated expert knowledge at first hand. Renowned experts will present topics such as the threat from drones and effective defensive measures (Securiton GmbH), modern sniffer dog training (Kynotec GmbH), and innovative developments in small arms ammunition technology (FN Herstal). There will also be presentations on winning over Generation Z for security-related professions, or more specifically, special units (Dr Bernd Bürger), and on the role of artificial intelligence in drone navigation (Spleenlab GmbH).

German-Nordic Defence Industry Dialogue Puts the Spotlight on Multilateral Cooperation: A special highlight on the Monday is the premiere of the German-Nordic Defence Industry Dialogue. This initiative brings together representatives of the German and Nordic defence industry, government ministries and research establishments to explore strategies for faster and more effective military capabilities. “More than ever, the security policy situation calls for intensive dialogue between the relevant players. Our aim is to accelerate this dialogue and implement innovative solutions more quickly in practice,” says Dr Christian Wildhagen, initiator of the format and Managing Director of Wildhagen Nordisk Konsult. The event will take place from 12:00 to 18:00 on 24 February 2025 in the Hong Kong Room at NCC Ost.

AMMO SYMPOSIUM ~ The Premiere of a Groundbreaking Format: The high point of Tuesday’s programme will be the launch of the Ammo Symposium. High-calibre speakers like Lieutenant General (Ret.) Ben Hodges, Marco Detratti (European Commission), Šarūnas Genys (Invest Lithuania) and Jonas Sohlin (EURENCO Bofors) will discuss the key challenges of ammunition procurement in Europe. The event will take place from 9:00 to 16:00 on 25 February 2025 in the Munich Room at NCC Mitte.

Exclusive Events and Interactive Formats: Alongside the public programme features, Enforce Tac also offers closed events. For example, the USK Freundeskreis e.V. (a charity providing support to police officers in need) will hold its AGM during the trade fair. “Enforce Tac is the perfect platform for our meeting, as it combines professional expertise, networking opportunities and practical demonstrations,” says Stefan Thiele, the chair of the association. In partnership with the USK Freundeskreis e.V., a fitness test will also be conducted in the Enforce Tac Fitness Area. As a special incentive, successful participants will receive a limited ‘USK x Enforce Tac Patch’, while Enforce Tac will make a donation to the Nuremberg Children’s Hospice on behalf of each person taking part.

High-Calibre Symposia: Knowledge Transfer at the Highest Level: Enforce Tac is expanding its programme of conventions. For the first time, the German Customs Authority will hold a symposium at Enforce Tac on the topic ‘Modern Crime Fighting’, while the Carl-Cranz-Gesellschaft e.V. will discuss ‘Drone/UAV Warfare – State of the Art and Foreseeable Developments’. The German Police Academy (DHPol) is again hosting a conference on new developments in firearms, ammunition and tactical equipment. “Our aim is to present current developments and foster professional dialogue,” says Professor Wilfried Honekamp from DHPol. In addition, the UAV DACH expert group ‘Public Security and Defence’ will again hold a meeting at the fair.

Special Start-Up Area Presents Innovations for Law Enforcement and Defence: This year, Enforce Tac will again offer a special platform for start-ups in the field of law enforcement and defence. Around 20 German and international start-ups will present their innovative solutions and technologies on the special display area, divided into the categories ‘Young Innovators’ (German start-ups) and ‘Start-ups@EnforceTac’ (international start-ups). The participants include Corelock Defence Systems and AM Technologies. India is committed to boosting manufacturing and exports of defence equipment in the coming years, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday at the opening of the country’s biggest air show, where its military ambitions will be in focus. India, the world’s largest arms importer, has stressed the need to modernise its military and boost domestic defence production to counter rival China’s growing military strength and influence in South Asia. India’s domestic defence manufacturing value will reach more than 1.25trn rupees ($14.24bn) in the fiscal year ending in March, while its defence exports will cross a record 210 bn rupees for the first time over the same period, Singh said. 04 Feb 25. DSEI Germany launched. The global security order is facing unprecedented challenges. Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, growing geopolitical tensions, and the vulnerability of critical infrastructures are demanding an increased commitment to defence and security issues from Germany and other European countries. DSEI Germany will be held for the first time from 19 – 22 January 2027 at the Messegelände Hannover (Hannover Exhibition Grounds) to address this demand.

DSEI Germany is organised by Deutsche Messe AG in partnership with the organisers of DSEI UK and DSEI Japan, the world’s leading security and defence exhibitions. DSEI UK and DSEI Japan take place every two years in London and Tokyo respectively.

DSEI Germany will showcase the modern military equipment, armaments, technologies, products, processes, and materials required to ensure national defensive potential, the ability to meet alliance commitments, and geopolitical security. The event will support industrial companies and their suppliers to meet the increasing demand brought about by the “Zeitenwende”, the turning point which is transforming Germany’s defence policy.

The security policy priorities of NATO and the EU will form the basis of the debate, with military leaders and civilian decision-makers discussing strategic defence issues and opportunities for partnerships.

Following the historic “Trinity House” agreement between the UK and Germany, with the aim of deepening security and defence cooperation between the two countries, DSEI Germany will provide a forum for consolidating and expanding partnerships and alliances both within Europe and worldwide, while promoting cooperation in security policy.

Today’s defence requirements are becoming increasingly complex and demand comprehensive, networked solutions in all areas of the modern army. The trade fair offers industry partners a platform to present capabilities and technologies tailored to the respective military needs.

27 Jan 25. Targi Kielce’s priority investment is entering the implementation phase. On Thursday, 23 January, Strabag signed the contract to design and build a new exhibition hall and reconstruct the existing one. The combined space of both facilities amounts to over 15,500 square metres of usable space on the ground floor and 3,000 square metres on the mezzanine

Therefore, the new facility in the centre’s infrastructure will be four times larger than the currently largest hall, no. 5. Work is scheduled to begin in the spring after the biggest exhibition of the season; the Agrotech Agricultural Technology Fair.

“Today is a historic moment and a massive milestone in the development of Targi Kielce, and Targi Kielce stands for professionalism, the company that competes with itself and wins every year. And the fact that this company’s name includes the word ‘Kielce’ is a source of great pride and satisfaction for us,” said Agata Wojda, Mayor of Kielce, during the ceremonial signing of the agreement. The Mayor added, “I do not envy you this pressure, nor the management of Targi Kielce or the Strabag company, but I know that you are a solid partner.”

The project involves the construction of Hall 8 and the reconstruction of Hall 7; the expo halls will be combined. Mezzanines will be built at the connection point with additional restaurant and congress spaces and views of the exhibition space. The building will be 15 metres high, 73 metres wide and over 237 metres long in total. The cost of building the facility will not exceed PLN 100 m.

The initial phase of the ‘design and build’ tender began in August 2024, a decision was made in January, and on Thursday 23 January the agreement was signed with the contractor. “The tedious and very meticulous procedure allowed us to carefully examine each offer. In the final phase, we were in talks with several companies; we were convinced that the selected contractor would reliably fulfil the task. There is an intense period ahead of us because we are also running our exhibition activities in parallel,” says Dr. Andrzej Mochoń, President of the Management Board of Targi Kielce.

The company will design the new facility and it can also use the designs that were created for Targi Kielce in 2018, when the company was preparing to build a new expo hall. These plans were abandoned at the time due to the pandemic. Construction work will begin in March 2025, and the hall is to be ready by the end of July 2026 so that it can be used by exhibitors first at the International Defense Industry Exhibition [MSPO] in September 2026.

“We hope that we will meet expectations and that in 17 months, a facility will be built that you will be able to boast about on the international arena,” said Joanna Popczyk, Financial Director and Proxy of Strabag.

The expansion of expo infrastructure is necessary due to the growing interest of companies in participating in trade fairs.

“Since 2005, we have been building additional temporary halls for the Agrotech agricultural technology fair; this additional area in temporary halls reached up to 18 thousand square metres,” explains President Andrzej Mochoń. In recent years, the need to build temporary halls has also been the case for fairs from the Industrial Spring group and the International Defence Industry Exhibition. New trade fairs keep growing, including the Enex renewable energy fair and the Roof-Forum roofing industry fair. In the case of MSPO and Agrotech, we are pushed to limit the rented space, and the reserve list is long.

The new facility will be built in a place that previously served as a parking lot; Targi Kielce will prepare a car park on the plot located at Wystawowa Street. This project is already being implemented. A temporary expo hall will also be built, which will operate throughout the construction period; 4,000 square metres with full technical infrastructure will make inconvenience regarding the investment unnoticed for exhibitors. 26 Jan 25. Netanyahu says France assures Israel its firms can take part in Paris Air Show. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said on Sunday that French President Emmanuel Macron had given him assurances that Israeli companies would be able to take part in the Paris Air Show. The two had a phone conversation during which the assurance was given, according to a statement by the prime minister’s office. Separately, Macron’s office said in a statement that the presence of Israeli companies at the air show “could be favourably considered, as a result of the ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon.” Israeli defence companies were last year banned from participating in a defence industry exhibition held in Paris as Macron called for Israel to cease some military operations in Gaza. That ban strained relations, but a French court in October overturned a government ban on Israeli companies taking part in a naval arms exhibition near Paris. The Paris Air Show, the world’s largest, is held every two years, alternating every other year with Farnborough in Britain. It is due to take place from June 16 until June 22. Format

The event is planned to be held over three days.

1 July: Day 1, is at the Defence Academy of the UK in Shrivenham and provides insight from Army HQ and other customers on their intent for the future. This is supplemented by presentations from academia and industry.
2 July: Day 2 takes place at Cranfield University’s COTEC range facility on Salisbury Plain. This involves live-firing demonstrations from industry as well as an opportunity for delegates to fire small arms from different manufacturers and with different optics and technologies. There is also the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate autonomous and remote technologies.
3 July: Day 3 is back at Shrivenham and provides more technology briefs from industry and academia.

Call for Papers

If you wish to present a paper based on this year’s theme, please Submit an abstract of around 200 words by e-mail to Leanne no later than Monday 24 March 2025. Papers should be planned to take no more than 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes for questions either individually or in plenary.

Babcock and Rolls-Royce also announce their presence.

Leaders from NASA, Babcock International Group (Babcock), Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, UK Ministry of Defence, and the US Government have been confirmed as speakers for the Farnborough International Space Show and The 40th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment, taking place in the UK during March 2025.

In addition, international pioneers Babcock and Rolls-Royce have announced their presence and support of the Farnborough International organised exhibition.

Taking place 19-20 March 2025 at Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre in Hampshire, UK, the location of the world-famous Farnborough International Airshow, the event is designed to pioneer the commercial space age and advance space domain defence. Babcock, which operates Skynet, the UK’s military satellite communications system, among many other critical activities, will showcase its innovative solutions and technologies driving advancements in the space sector at the show. 20 Dec 24. Allied Chiefs of Defence meeting with Partners – 15-16 January 2025.

NATO’s highest Military Authority, the Military Committee, will meet in person on 15 and 16 January 2025 in Brussels. Allied Chiefs of Defence will meet with over 20 of their counterparts from NATO Partner nations. The meeting will be presided by Admiral Rob Bauer, Chair of the Military Committee and supported by General Christopher Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), and Admiral Pierre Vandier, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT).

The Chiefs of Defence will discuss issues of strategic importance to the Alliance, while focusing on cooperation with Partners and unified responses to global challenges.

NATO Secretary General, Mr. Mark Rutte, will join the Military Committee for the opening session to address the Alliance’s key priorities and challenges.

The first session will see Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Cavoli brief the Chiefs of Defence on NATO’s readiness to deter and defend the Euro-Atlantic area and to safeguard the region’s one bn inhabitants. SACEUR will also have broader discussions on NATO’s ongoing missions, and on support to Ukraine, including the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU), which has begun to assume responsibilities to support Ukraine.

During the second session, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Admiral Vandier, will lead a discussion on Interoperability by Design. Additionally, SACT will update the Military Committee on :

The NATO Defence Planning Process;
The status of the Joint Analysis Training and Education Centre (JATEC);
The implementation path for a multi domain-enabled Alliance by 2030.

In the third and fourth sessions, together with their counterparts from NATO Partners nations, the Chiefs of Defence will discuss the different manifestations of pervasive instability around the globe.

Exchanges with partners will continue on the second day, when Allied and Partner Chiefs of Defence will discuss military cooperation, standardization and interoperability.

This will be followed by thematic sessions on the Global South and the Indo-Pacific, with briefings on the strategic security situation of both regions, their regional challenges and implications for world-wide security.

The MCCS will wrap up with a Joint Press Conference by the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, and Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.

Passes must be worn visibly at all times, and security personnel may ask to see another form of ID at any time. Media representatives are informed that security personnel will examine and may test equipment and personal effects carried onto the site. They are also advised to arrive with sufficient lead-time to clear security checks.

The opening remarks delivered by the Chair of the NATO Military Committee and the NATO Secretary General will be streamed live on the NATO website.

The press conference will also be streamed live on the NATO website and the live feed will be provided to EBU.

Video footage will be available for free download from the NATO Multimedia Portal after the event.
