3 Sep 02. Xybernaut Corporation (NASDAQ:XYBR – News) and Xperience Group, a major European distributor of Xybernaut® technologies, today announced a joint program with Piper Group to provide European defense and aerospace markets with mobile/wearable computing solutions for aircraft and defense equipment maintenance.
Initial units of Xybernaut wearable computers have already been integrated with trilogiView, an Integrated Technical Data (ITD) viewer application in which Piper Group has played a central development role.
Created by BAE SYSTEMS, trilogiView addresses logistics requirements across all branches of Britain’s MoD and has quickly become one of the industry’s most comprehensive ITD viewer applications. Running on Xybernaut MA®V and MA® TC wearable computers, trilogiView was recently demonstrated by Piper Group, Xybernaut and BAE SYSTEMS during the 2002 Farnborough.
“trilogiView is an ideal application for Xybernaut technology, just as Xybernaut wearables are the perfect platform for trilogiView,” stated Paul Burke, head of Business Solutions for Piper Group. “The combination of fast intuitive data accessibility and a completely mobile hands-free platform is effectively a revolution in on-site aircraft and defense equipment maintenance.”
“With more than a decade of support for military and defense applications in the U.S. and abroad, Xybernaut and Piper Group have strong go-to-market experience and expertise. Whether users find themselves performing tactical military manoeuvres, complex repairs, detailed quality assurance, asset tracking/management or information management, Xybernaut, Xperience Group and Piper Group are now beginning to deliver integrated solutions to boost productivity and reduce costs,” stated Edward G. Newman, chairman, president and CEO of Xybernaut.
The companies also completed an agreement whereby Piper Group joins Team Xybernaut(TM) as a value-added reseller (VAR) of Xybernaut wearable computers and accessories in the United Kingdom.
“The obvious benefits of efficiency and productivity for maintenance and repair operations, and tangible improvements to the working environment for field force employees, are both significant and instantaneous, setting the standard for mobile support solutions worldwide,” Burke added.
