VETERANS UPDATE

December 4, 2020 by

————————————————————————-

30 Nov 20. Fujitsu are working with SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity to raise much needed funds to provide presents to families at the charity’s Gildea House this Christmas.

SSAFA’s Gildea House is a Stepping Stone Home that provides help and support for women and their children who find themselves estranged, widowed or have fled the family home due to domestic abuse.

Gildea House relies on generous donations to enable them to buy toys, arrange days out for the children and to provide occasional gifts that families often cannot afford to buy.

For the second year, Fujitsu are working together with SSAFA to provide a memorable Christmas for the women and children that are currently living at Gildea House. The money raised will go towards providing Christmas presents for the women and children being supported by SSAFA.

Fujitsu has been a corporate partner of SSAFA since 2007 and has raised over £420,000 to support service personnel, veterans and their families. This year, through the pandemic, Fujitsu has worked closely with SSAFA through a number of initiatives, including the VE Day 75 Art Competition and ‘The SSAFA Meal Deal’.

In addition, this Christmas Fujitsu has donated £25,000 to SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity to help them continue their work to support the Armed Forces community.

James Grant, Head of Corporate Fundraising and Events, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Fujitsu who are helping us provide Christmas presents to the women and children at Gildea House for the second year running.”

“Gildea House is a haven for many women and children from the Armed Forces family. It provides a comfortable, secure and female-only place to stay for as long as individual’s need to get back on their feet.”

Maxine Ashbrook, Head of Marketing for Defence & National Security, Fujitsu, said: “We were overwhelmed with our colleagues’ response last year when we first supported Gildea House at Christmas, and are absolutely delighted to be running this initiative for the second time.  Working with our partner SSAFA we hope to provide another memorable Christmas for all those at Gildea House.”

ExFor+ CIC is a relatively new organisation but has been established with the objective of becoming a National overarching organisation within the Veterans Support Sector. Our aim is to bring about, positive Social and Economic change for the country as well as a significant

transformation of how Service leavers, Veterans, their families and communities are supported. We will do this through effective collaboration, communication and management of a number of services and departments, ranging from engaging with Government, The Third sector and also the supporters of, those who’ve served and often sacrificed so much for their country. We are currently supporting a number of service leavers and veterans with a range of issues ranging from housing, unemployment, benefits, personal development, education, and are constantly looking for employers who see the positives in recruiting and supporting individuals in to work to create longterm and sustainable futures.
