Following a study by General Dynamics undertaken by the company following its successful UK BOWMAN win, the company has, in association with the DPA, issued a Request For Particulars (RFP) to a umber of companies which include TRW, Thales and BAE SYSTEMS for a short response time by the end of March.
The RFP requires bidding the URD (User Requirements Document) DS2 requirements for ComBat, Infrastructure and Platforms. General Dynamics and the DPA will jointly decide on the winner. But the DPA has no wish to be involved contractually in the process so the winner will work with General Dynamics. BATTLESPACE will be running a major update on BOWMAN following an interview with Larry Johnson, Managing Director of General Dynamics (UK) Ltd which will be conducted next week.
In addition to DS2, a number of announcements regarding the 17 other BISA’s notably the Fire Control requirement being bid by Raytheon and Logica which will be announced in the next 6-8 months.
All three bidders were asked to bid BOWMAN to its natural boundaries and each bid submitted chose differing solutions. “TRW bid all but 11 of the 2753 requirements, which we believe was more than the other three.
