17 Mar 03. The U.K. MoD, through the Defence Communications Services Agency (DCSA), is poised to call for tenders to modernize its IT systems through a requirement worth £2bn over five years. Companies expected to tender include IBM Global Services, EDS and Lockheed Martin.
The DCSA is working on a new defence information infrastructure to replace more than 100 systems, most of which are managed in-house. It will provide 150,000 desktop computers to more than 300,000 staff in a deal due to be tendered out to the private sector for a 5 year contract worth £400m.
