01 Feb 18. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) certified for operational use an in-fill radar system and tower provided by Elbit Systems of America. The system now provides CBP Air and Marine Operations agents another important capability to protect U.S. borders. Elbit Systems of America was awarded a contract by CBP in 2017 to provide an in-fill radar system and tower in Texas. The contract supports CBP Air and Marine Operations and extends border security solutions into the air domain.
“Elbit Systems of America is a trusted provider and integrator of advanced technology border solutions for Air & Marine Operations, Field Operations and Border Patrol agents,” stated Raanan Horowitz, president and chief executive officer of Elbit Systems of America. “Elbit America’s integrated border security solutions provide increased situational awareness and improved border surveillance coverage.”
Elbit Systems of America, LLC, partnered with C Speed, LLC to incorporate its LightWave Radar technology used for detecting small and low-flying airborne threats in a high clutter environment. C Speed’s LightWave radar has also been deployed worldwide to mitigate the effects of wind turbine clutter in similar environments This program is another example of Elbit Systems of America delivering solutions supporting CBP’s mission to protect U.S. borders. Separately, the company is the prime contractor and system integrator for the Integrated Fixed Tower (IFT) system, currently deployed along the Arizona border. Elbit Systems of America furnishes the sensor towers with radar, day/night cameras, and command & control software that correlates sensor information to provide a single operating picture. Information from the towers is networked into Border Patrol Station Command and Control Centers. This system increases situational awareness for Border Patrol Agents. The IFT’s high reliability and proven contractor logistics support provides CBP with 24/7 surveillance coverage.
01 Feb 18. L3 WESCAM Wins Defense Contracts Valued at More Than $250m USD in Second Half of 2017. L3 WESCAM announced today that it ended the second half of 2017 with more than $250m USD in contracts from military and law enforcement customers for its MX™-Series electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) products and in-service support products and services. The orders will provide a range of MX imaging and targeting solutions to both experienced MX end users and military customers new to L3 WESCAM products and services.
“For more than 40 years, L3 has been a key supplier of ISR technologies, including sensors and systems, to help military and law enforcement agencies stay on the leading edge as surveillance and reconnaissance missions evolve,” said Jeff Miller, L3’s Senior Vice President and President of its Sensor Systems business segment. “We have earned and maintained a very strong reputation for quality, performance, reliability and rapid delivery, having provided more than 4,100 MX surveillance and targeting systems worldwide.”

The demand for L3 WESCAM’s ISR technologies continued to grow as systems were sold for the first time into four new countries across four separate continents, including Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. Additionally, MX-Series systems were purchased for the first time on six significant airborne platforms, including airframes developed in Europe, Japan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. L3 WESCAM turrets are now operating in over 70 countries on more than 190 different types of platforms across the air, land and maritime domains.
