14 Apr 26 C-UAS Hub said today that EOS demonstrates Sling Blade system in US Army Exercise.
EOS’ Slinger counter-drone remote weapon system has been integrated as part of the US Army’s Sling Blade counter-UAS system, which was demonstrated during the U.S. Army’s Summit Strike live fire exercise, conducted by the 10th Mountain Division on April 14.
The exercise brought together military units, industry participants and multinational partners to test the integration of emerging technologies in a contested, large-scale combat environment. The event focused on coordinating effects across multiple domains, including air, land and electronic warfare.
The Sling Blade system combines EOS’ Slinger remote weapon station with a 30 mm cannon, a four-pack APKWS rocket launcher and an SRC radar. The configuration is designed to provide a closed-loop capability, enabling detection, tracking and engagement of drone threats within a single system.
The counter-drone system was included in a two-hour live fire activity alongside field artillery, Apache helicopters, electronic warfare assets and uncrewed ground vehicles. The demonstration highlighted how counter-UAS capabilities are being integrated into broader combined arms operations.
EOS Defence Systems USA has been working with the U.S. Army DEVCOM Armaments Center over the past year to support development of the system, including radar integration to improve targeting against drones.
Further trials with the 10th Mountain Division are planned, with additional operational assessments expected.

17 Apr 26. Terra Drone’s interceptor begins operational deployment in Ukraine.
Terra Drone Corporation has announced today (April 17) that operational deployment in Ukraine has commenced for the Terra A1 interceptor drone. The deployment is being executed through Amazing Drones, one of Terra Drone’s investee companies.
“Deployment for defence purposes has already begun with a military unit, and evaluation and feedback collection under actual operating conditions are currently underway,” Terra Drone said.
The initial deployment is based on a phased introduction model in which equipment is first provided to a unit and then expanded through additional deployments depending on the results of evaluations conducted in the field. The company said that performance verification and the identification of operational issues are currently being carried out by the unit already equipped with the system, while discussions are underway regarding further deployments and expansion to other units.
The Terra A1 was developed based on real-world operations, with particular emphasis on rapid deployability and ease of use in the field. The company said that the data obtained through actual deployment, together with feedback from operators on the ground, can be incorporated into product improvements and operational optimisation on an ongoing basis.
“Once the effectiveness of interception against low-cost, mass-deployed unmanned attack systems such as Shahed has been sufficiently verified in real-world environments, Terra Drone plans to move forward with broader deployment based on the evaluation results and strengthen its mass-production framework,” the company said in a press release. Terra Drone will also consider expansion into other regions facing similar challenges.

20 Apr 26. India grants licence to Zen Technologies for C-UAS cannons.
Zen Technologies has been granted an arms manufacturing licence by the Government of India, under the Arms Act, 1959.
The licence authorises the company to manufacture 12.7mm, 23mm, 30mm and 40mm
cannons that can be used for counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS) applications, among others.
The company says that the rapid-fire cannons are suitable as last-layer defence systems against drones, loitering munitions and low-flying aerial threats. They can be integrated with fire-control systems, radar, electro-optical/infrared sensors and programmable ammunition to protect defence assets, border areas and critical infrastructure. 20 Apr 26. Belgian’s defence minister defends charges of over-spending on C-UAS systems
“In October last year, a number of drones were seen above the Elsenborn military base,” reports the Brussels Times. “Over the next few weeks, drones were regularly reported above Belgian military bases and airports, causing flight disruptions. Francken called the situation a “military crisis” and pushed to accelerate Belgium’s action plan against drones, launching a EUR50 million anti-drone scheme.
A Flemish public broadcaster VRT’s investigative programme Pano claimed that the minister exaggerated the drone sightings, attributed them to Russia without evidence and launched his anti-drone plan without a public tender that was too expensive and ineffective…..As part of its investigation, VRT claimed to have found no evidence of hostile drones over Belgian military bases and airports at the end of last year.”
According to VRT, Francken’s fast-track anti-drone procurements – without public tenders and without quantified price control – were financially unsound.
VRT also reported that the minister rejected the allegations and said that the parliamentary committee on military procurement approved everything, with the exception of one abstention.

The UK offshore energy industry will hold an exercise in Scotland this week to test its response to drones and other threats.
Exercise Granite Resolve will test how the energy industry, police and other agencies deal with a complex emergency situation. According to media reports, approximately 70 personnel from the offshore energy industry will take part in the desktop exercise, as well as officials from Police Scotland, the Department for Energy Security and other agencies.

The UK’s sees.ai has been granted uncrewed aerial system (UAS) Conditional Approval by the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), enabling deployment of its drones in the United States for close-quarter inspection of high-voltage electricity infrastructure.
The FCC’s Conditional Approval pathway was introduced after US government departments tightened controls on drone supply chains, restricting platforms originating from outside the US from operating in critical infrastructure environments. The pathway provides a route for systems that can demonstrate appropriate security, integrity and supply chain assurance to be authorised for use in the United States.
The sees.ai system is an ‘end-to-end platform’, from aircraft through to data handling. With the approval, the company can deploy centrally controlled, autonomous drones in the United States and provide utilities with the data required for asset condition assessment and long-term network planning.

The order consists of several products, including oven-controlled crystal oscillators. The programme is anticipated to be in production past 2030.
Work under this contract will take place in Orlando, Florida through mid-2027.

Drones must fly longer, see farther and operate in degraded environments where fog, smoke or total darkness render conventional vision ineffective. At the same time, operators demand lighter platforms, extended autonomy and faster deployment cycles. This tension between performance and constraint has become one of the defining engineering challenges in defense imaging.
LYNRED addresses this challenge with the launch of ARGO SL, a turnkey mid wave infrared (MWIR) module delivering VGA resolution, specifically engineered for size, weight and power (SWaP) constrained applications. ARGO SL reconciles full band MWIR performance with a compact SWaP high operating temperature (HOT) architecture. The module integrates a type II superlattice (T2SL) focal plane array (FPA) operating at 130 kelvin (K) and covering the full MWIR band from 3.7 to 4.8 micrometers (µm). ARGO SL complements the existing portfolio, which already features GALATEA SL operating in the MWIR blue band between 3.6 and 4.2 µm, extending the spectral coverage within the MWIR band. While the MWIR blue band delivers the highest detection range with the lowest power consumption, the extended spectral coverage offered by the MWIR red band enhances signal-to-noise ratio and improves image quality robustness in challenging environments. From an integrator’s perspective, the value proposition is concrete. ARGO SL delivers VGA resolution at 640 by 512 pixels with a 15 µm pixel pitch, while maintaining power consumption at 4 watts (Wdc). Its compact format is compatible with sub 6 inch gimbals for tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and can also be deployed in handheld or soldier worn systems. The result is extended mission duration without increasing battery size and greater flexibility in platform design. Beyond raw performance, integration speed has become a strategic differentiator. Development cycles are shortening, and original equipment manufacturers (OEM) seek modular architectures that limit redesign efforts. 20 Apr 26. The Albanese government has unveiled plans to invest up to $7 billion in counter-drone capabilities for the Australian Defence Force, more than doubling current funding under the 2026 Integrated Investment Program.
The decade-long investment is aimed at strengthening Australia’s ability to detect and defeat increasingly sophisticated uncrewed aerial threats, both at home and in deployed operations overseas.
Head of the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA), Major General Hugh Meggitt, said the initiative, known as Mission Syracuse, would leverage Australia’s strengths in advanced defence technologies.
“Mission Syracuse will draw on Australian industry’s world-leading expertise in kinetic and directed energy systems to find, fix, track, target and engage uncrewed aerial vehicles,” he said.
“It will significantly enhance the ADF’s ability to counter the threat posed by UAVs employed by malicious actors, both domestically and abroad.”
As part of the announcement, the government confirmed two initial contracts for Australian-made, next-generation counter-drone systems, marking an early step in the broader investment push.
Minister for Defence Industry Pat Conroy said the investment would strengthen both national security and Australia’s defence industrial base.
“The Albanese government is building a stronger and more resilient defence industry through investing in Australian innovation, skills and disruptive technologies that will keep Australians safe,” he said.

The funding forms part of a wider commitment to spend up to $22 billion on drone, counter-drone and autonomous systems over the next decade, in line with the recently released National Defence Strategy.
The move comes amid growing evidence from conflicts such as the war in Ukraine and ongoing fighting in the Middle East, where drones have become a central feature of modern warfare. Defence officials said these developments underscore the need for sovereign capabilities to counter rapidly evolving threats.
Under the first round of contracts, AIM Defence will receive $21.3 million to advance its high-energy laser system, known as Fractl. The portable system is designed to track and destroy both individual drones and swarms, with the ability to lock onto objects as small as a 10-cent coin travelling at speeds exceeding 100km/h.
SYPAQ Systems has been awarded $10.4 million to develop the Corvo Strike interceptor drone, intended to track and neutralise larger UAVs increasingly seen on contemporary battlefields.

While Australia’s geography has traditionally driven investment in larger, long-range drones, officials said Mission Syracuse will accelerate the rollout of capabilities tailored to counter medium-sized drones and swarms of smaller systems, threats more likely to be encountered in complex operational environments or during domestic security tasks.
Minister Conroy added: “With record investment in drone and counter-drone capabilities, we are ensuring Australia can respond to emerging threats to our security.”
