04 Sep 25. Echodyne, the radar platform company,  has been selected as the radar provider within the Australian Defence Force’s Project Land 156, the Australian government’s effort to equip the ADF with continuous counter-drone capabilities. The Project intends to modernize the ADF in the face of new technology and an evolving threat landscape. Echodyne is proud to contribute radar expertise to the project and its newly announced systems integration team leader, Leidos Australia, and alongside EOS Australia, which already incorporates Echodyne radar into its Slinger RWS, Acacia Systems, L3Harris Technologies and Department 13.

02 Sep 25. TCI, part of SPX Communications Technologies, today introduces two new Radio Frequency (RF) Receivers, designed for continuous, real-time signal collection to support Communications Intelligence (COMINT) operations. The 955 Rackmount RF COMINT and Geolocation System and the 957 Rackmount RF COMINT and Independent Geolocation System will be shown for the first time at DSEI 2025, 9–12 September, ExCeL London, Stand N6-130.

The systems deliver rapid detection, filtering, and geolocation of RF communication signals across congested spectrum environments, enabling faster decision-making and reaction times, improved threat awareness, and greater operational agility. Their 80 MHz Instantaneous Bandwidth – double that of its predecessor – allows wide-area signal collection for broad situational awareness, or narrower focus for heightened sensitivity in challenging RF conditions.

Combining two geolocation techniques – Hybrid Angle of Arrival (AOA) and Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA) – enables precise signal location with fewer deployed assets, even over low-bandwidth or intermittent networks.

The rugged, rack-mounted design supports deployment in vehicles, fixed installations, or forward field positions. Both models are built for mission flexibility, with the ability to switch roles without reconfiguration, from counter-terrorism and border security to front-line combat. The 955 is optimised for single-unit, vehicle-mounted, or stand-alone operations, while the 957 offers enhanced processing capacity for simultaneous, independent tasking and networked multi-sensor geolocation across dispersed teams.

The RF systems also feature a 72-hour look-back recording capability, enabling operators to identify a new threat and immediately analyse historical spectrum activity to extract further intelligence. The feature also supports automated and remote monitoring options, reduces manpower requirements for persistent 24/7 operations, and lowers operational costs. A database allows further intelligence analysis for days, weeks and months.

Both systems operate using TCI’s Blackbird software, currently in operational use on almost 1,000 frontline systems worldwide. Blackbird provides an intuitive interface that reduces training time and enables less experienced operators to perform effective COMINT tasks, immediately expanding the possible pool of operators. It allows highly skilled personnel to remain in safer, decentralised positions while remotely managing deployed systems, multiplying force effectiveness.

Built on the combat-proven heritage of their predecessor, the 953 receiver, the new 955 and 957 are backwards compatible with existing SPX Communication Technologies and partner systems, including the ECS BLACKTALON counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) solution, for scalable integration into wider electronic warfare architectures.

03 Sep 25. IEE Exhibiting Lineup of Rugged Displays at DSEI UK 2025.  Next-Gen Displays Combine Full-HD Performance with Flexible, Modular Architecture. 04 Sep 25. Metis launches THEIA their new drone detection Operating System and User Interface at DSEI 25. Metis, specialists in providing Radio Frequency (RF) and drone detection innovative technologies across diverse sectors, is launching THEIA their new operating system and graphical user interface. THEIA will be deployed to all their product range to maximise the benefits of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) in the rapid consolidation of multiple RF data sources into a single easy to use and understand Graphical User Interface (GUI). Metis will be showcasing Skyperion (their mobile drone detection product) and THEIA at DSEi 25, Excel, London (9-12 September 2025) in partnership with Allen-Vanguard on stand S5-540.
Metis has a long history in developing, producing and deploying sophisticated signals intelligence gathering technology to protect people, places and privacy. For the last 10 years, this expertise has been increasingly focussed on countering the rising asymmetric drone threat, and Metis has been at the forefront of C-UAS RF detection capability development. This has culminated in the design and production of Hyperion (broader RF detection) and Skyperion (more specific drone detection) which both capture a wide range of RF emissions of varying strengths across the electromagnetic spectrum, filter out background noise and known entities, before rapidly analysing complex waveforms to identify and locate potential threats. New Hardware and Software Development Kit Accelerates Thermal Imaging and AI Integration at the Edge.

Teledyne FLIR OEM, part of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY) and the global leader in thermal imaging innovation, today announced the launch of the Boson®+ IQDevelopment Kit. The comprehensive solution combines reference hardware with Prism™ software, empowering integrators to rapidly develop edge AI capabilities using advanced thermal sensing across defense, security, and industrial platforms.

At the heart of the kit is the Teledyne FLIR OEM AVP, powered by the Qualcomm® Dragonwing™ QCS8550 system-on-chip (SoC), which delivers an industry-leading 50 trillion operations per second (TOPS) with a
typical power draw of just 2.5 watts. Its multicore architecture supports Prism AI object detection models and Prism ISP features, including denoising and super resolution to provide exceptional image clarity in

OpenWorks Engineering has announced the launch of its latest autonomous optics product, Vision Pace.

Designed to enhance dynamic multi-threat engagement, Vision Pace offers microradian precision targeting to kinetic defeat chains, marking a step-change for layered air defence. The development is intended to provide capability to expeditionary force protection, GBAD, SHORAD, and M-SHORAD across land and naval domains.

Vision Pace achieves ultra-high performance through its low friction direct-drive positioner and AI-powered stabilisation technology, leveraging OpenWorks’ proven and advanced AI classifiers and trackers.

Building upon the widely deployed and highly modular approach to OpenWorks’ Vision Flex product family, Vision Pace is also configurable to meet customer requirements with the support of OpenWorks’ global technical support team. The approach to system architecture allows the integration of wide ranging third-party primary detectors, sensors, classifiers and effectors along with OpenWorks’ proven EO and IR imagers.
One such configuration on display at DSEI includes the integration of Thales’ TrueHunter Gimbal Sight sensor head which excels in long range multi-spectral observation, acquisition and target engagement through the most challenging environments, day and night. TrueHunter Gimbal Sight’s state-of-the-art sensors include high-resolution daylight colour cameras, a cooled thermal imager (both with continuous zoom), SWIR sensor, laser rangefinder, laser pointer and a laser target designator.
The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier in the year to support a partnership that will see OpenWorks fuse inputs from Thales’ suite of sensors with an advanced MESA radar from Echodyne to provide a comprehensive multi-target detect, recognise, track and target capability at speed and at distance. This is one of many possible variants Vision Pace.

03 Sep 25. Advanced Protection Systems and Frankenburg Technologies Enter Partnership in Kinetic Counter-Drone Systems. Advanced Protection Systems S.A. (APS) and Frankenburg Technologies OÜ have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at the joint development and integration of cutting-edge counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) in response to the growing drone threat in Europe and globally. APS is a leading Polish manufacturer of the SKYctrl anti-drone systems and FIELDctrl 3D MIMO radars, which are being deployed both in Poland and across many international markets, including Lithuania, where they will protect critical energy infrastructure, Ukraine, where significant numbers of Gdynia-made systems are used on the battlefield, and countries in the Middle East. Importantly, Advanced Protection Systems’ products are already fully integrated today with combat-proven kinetic effectors from reputable partners.
Frankenburg Technologies, an Estonian manufacturer of next-generation C-UAS effectors, is a pioneer in affordable, mass-producible interceptor missiles designed to neutralize drones. Their solutions offer an effective and scalable response to the rapidly increasing threat posed
by unmanned aerial systems, particularly in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war.

02 Sep 25.  HENSOLDT will present its latest technological advancements at DSEI 2025. One of HENSOLDT’s core competencies is the active and passive detection of threats and the protection of platforms and their users. In this context, software-defined defence plays a crucial role. The TRML-4D air defence radar will be on exhibit at DSEI. It is based on the latest AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar technology and ensures the rapid detection and tracking of around 1,500 targets within a radius of up to 250 kilometres. It is capable of quickly and reliably detecting and tracking all types of air targets – cruise missiles, rockets, drones and aircraft – and classifying them for engagement. SMARTSHOOTER, a world-class designer, developer, and manufacturer of innovative fire control systems, is introducing a new configuration of its combat-proven SMASH 3000: adaptation onto a Heavy Machine Gun (HMG). The new solution will be presented for the first time at the DSEI 2025 exhibition in London.
This milestone follows SMARTSHOOTER’s successful participation in Project VANAHEIM/FLYTRAP, a UK-US collaborative effort to expedite the adoption of advanced Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft System (C-sUAS) technologies into generalist combat units, offering practical, field-based, realistic operational scenarios to assess kinetic interception.
During the latest VANAHEIM trial, SMASH fire control systems were employed in handheld, vehicle-mounted, and remotely operated configurations. Fully compatible with Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK), SMASH demonstrated seamless integration of SMASH 3000 through an ATAK plugin with a battlefield management system (BMS), enabling the transfer of target data from the BMS to SMASH 3000 while empowering the shooter with simple yet powerful Situational Awareness (SA) capabilities for coordinated target engagement.

28 Aug 25. Saab reveals new Counter-UAS missile Nimbrix. Saab has revealed Nimbrix, its first ever dedicated Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) missile. The missile is developed to counter the increasing threat from small drones on the battlefield.
The fire-and-forget missile is being rapidly developed at Saab with the aim to deliver a system featuring a target seeker, a hard-kill warhead, and a small footprint – all at a low cost. The range will be up to 5 km with an active seeker to track its target. Its warhead can effectively engage and defeat UAS swarms using an air-burst mode.

“Nimbrix is our answer to the unmanned aerial threats which have escalated in the last few years. It is cost-effective which is critical given the proliferation of UASs on the battlefield. Nimbrix benefits from our long experience of air defence, together with an agile way of responding to new needs,” says Stefan Öberg, head of Saab’s business unit Missile Systems.
The missile operates as a ground-based system and can be operated independently or as part of a larger air defence system. With flexible mounting options to fit different customer requirements, Nimbrix can be mounted on various vehicles or in fixed configurations. The cost-effective nature of the missile contributes to maximising deployed numbers to generate sufficient air defence coverage.

Blighter (www.blighter.com), a pioneering designer and manufacturer of ground-based smart electronic-scanning micro-Doppler radars, is showcasing new developments to its border surveillance and coastal security radars, and its AI-assisted BlighterNexus software at this year’s DSEI Defence and Security show. DSEI takes place at the ExCel Centre in London, September 9-12, 2025. Blighter will be on stand number N6-166.
Following a record £25m order book in the last financial year, Blighter is continuing to consolidate its leadership in border surveillance and coastal security by focusing on product innovation to support its defence customers and systems integrator partners.

This extended range from 8km to 15km, without the need for additional power, means earlier interception of intruders and significant cost savings for border control operators with fewer radars needed due to the three-fold increase of the radar’s coverage.
Third, Blighter’s engineers have also been working on a government/industry coastal surveillance project. This has resulted in significant improvements to the adaptiveness of the Blighter C400 coastal security radar. Through fine tuning of the electronic scanning beam and the micro-Doppler tracking function, the radar can now automatically and dynamically adapt to the prevailing environmental conditions. This will not only make the coastal radar more effective, but it will also reduce the training and operational burden on customers.
The Blighter C400 radar will be featured on development partner Kirintec’s stand. Kirintec is owned by BAE Systems and specialises in Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA), Counter-IED and Counter-UAS technology.

ECHO: Handheld retro-reflective detection for covert optics
ECHO is a rugged handheld laser detection system that exposes concealed, hostile optics, specifically magnified optics of any kind. Designed for military, law enforcement and high-security operations, ECHO can detect optics at distances of up to 3km, even under harsh environmental conditions with speed and precision.
ECHO uses advanced retro-reflection to uncover surveillance threats that conventional imaging systems miss. It operates across the wide spectrum, allowing operators to identify concealed optics without compromising their own position, giving them the edge in surveillance, counter-surveillance, VIP protection, sniper scope detection, and border operations, whilst remaining eyes safe.

Designed for high-tempo, high-threat operations, LASERD® MAX delivers persistent, autonomous laser detection up to 10km across the visible and non-visible laser spectrum. It enables users to passively map, log, and analyse laser activity in real time, even in complex or contested EW environments.

G&H Brings AI Vision & Laser Threat Detection to DSEI 2025

Embedded Image Periscope (EIP) with Overview Ltd PodView™ 2500
The latest G&H EIP integrates an FHD electronic display with custom relaxed-view biocular optics, enabling operators to seamlessly switch between direct optical and indirect display views – all in an optimised size, weight, and power (SWaP) package with ergonomic controls.
Paired with the PodView 2500 – a rugged, AI-enabled, 360° continuous pan/tilt vision system featuring a 30× zoom low-light HD camera, high-sensitivity LWIR thermal imager, and NVIDIA Jetson Xavier AGX real-time analytics – the suite delivers unmatched day/night situational awareness for armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs).

G&H Periscope with Sentinel Embedded Laser Detection
In collaboration with Sentinel Photonics, G&H has integrated Sentinel’s proprietary laser detection technology into vehicle periscopes. The Sentinel-equipped periscope incorporates light-sensing elements and advanced signal processing to provide rapid alerts to laser radiation used in military environments – helping crews detect threats such as laser rangefinders, designators, and dazzlers.
The compact, efficient design requires only a standard vehicle voltage power feed and operates at an exceptionally low power level of just 2 watts. Suitable for both new and legacy vehicles, it installs with minimal modifications to the vehicle interface. For enhanced protection, the system can be integrated with other onboard systems to trigger countermeasures or weapon systems. Almost all existing and new periscopes from G&H | Kent can be supplied with integrated Sentinel laser detection, preserving the original periscope space envelope and requiring no changes beyond the power feed connection.

FROST Laser Protection Filters for Riflescopes
In partnership with Sentinel Photonics, G&H | Artemis have developed these innovative optical filters to protect operators from increasingly prevalent battlefield laser threats – from spotters and rangefinders to illuminators and countermeasure systems – without compromising visual clarity or tactical advantage. Mounted on riflescope objective lenses, they prevent laser dazzling or blinding, ensuring optical performance even in laser-intensive environments. Built to military-grade standards, they are rugged, durable, and compatible with a wide range of riflescope models.

Precision Microlithographic Reticles (NEW G&H capability)
The acquisition of Global Photonics brings G&H a new, high-precision reticle manufacturing capability. These microlithographic reticles are fabricated to tolerances as tight as ±0.002 mm in cleanroom environments to eliminate dust artifacts and preserve image clarity. Designed to sit at the eyepiece’s focal plane without altering focal length or introducing distortion, they can be produced in etched, metallic line, or custom patterns. Advanced coating options – including anti-reflective, waterproof, oleophobic, and anti-glare – further enhance performance and can be tailored to meet exact mission requirements.

12 Aug 25. Dedrone by Axon Takes Flight in Project VANAHEIM. Battlefield innovation is taking place at unprecedented speed. Military and government leaders recognise they must act quickly to counter new, unprecedented threats. For these reasons, it has become impossible to test solutions in a lab or to spend months on costly RFPs or product iterations. The pace of modern military innovation requires counter-drone technologies to be demonstrated in the field — under pressure, in real conditions, with no room for error.
It is this awareness that gave Project VANAHEIM its start. A joint initiative between the British and US Army, VANAHEIM is a rapid procurement program designed to put promising Counter Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) technologies through their paces in real-world operational environments. The project’s Request for Information drew significant interest from the counter-drone community, and Dedrone by Axon was amongst a few invited to prove our tech in the field.

The purpose of Project VANAHEIM

VANAHEIM’s mission is clear: to evaluate how well different systems can detect, track, identify, and defeat Class 1 UAS threats, including FPV drones, in the kind of challenging conditions soldiers actually face. This isn’t “best case scenario”environment testing. This requires proving capabilities under extreme heat, heavy storms, rough terrain or any other challenge commonly encountered on the battlefield.
In June 2025, Dedrone by Axon joined VANAHEIM 3.0 in Germany with our Dedrone OnTheMove (OTM) system, a passive, vehicle-mounted RF solution.
When the dust settled, DedroneOTM was the only vehicle-mounted RF system to detect all known drone threats in the event. That result didn’t just speak to our detection accuracy, it showed how our platform-agnostic, open-architecture approach integrates seamlessly with both TAK and SAPIENT systems, giving operators on both sides of the Atlantic real-time situational awareness and enabling faster, more coordinated responses across joint operations.
By aligning with standards like SAPIENT, Dedrone is helping lay the foundation for multinational C-UAS collaboration at scale. As SAPIENT continues its ratification process within NATO, it opens the door for other NATO member nations to access and act on Dedrone’s DTI (detect, track, identify) data in real time. Built to scale across coalition partners, DedroneOTM offers a common operational picture and faster threat response across the alliance.

Our showing in Germany resulted in an invite to VANAHEIM 4.0 in Poland, where we had the opportunity to prove our technology in tougher environments, with higher temperatures, sudden storms, and even more demanding terrain.

THERMAL CLIP-ON WEAPON SIGHT
The true novelty of the N-Vision Optics THERMAL CLIP-ON Family of Weapon Sights comes from a combination of the extremely high display resolution (2K), sub 4µm display pixel pitch, integration of ballistic calculator, and disturbed reticle. This combination allows the use of the N-Vision Optics thermal clip-on and its advanced ballistic calculator features with long-range high-magnification day sights. The ballistics-related information is clearly visible to the user, even at the highest day-optics magnification settings. The ballistic calculator can exchange information with external LRF and a variety of weather meters using Applied Ballistics (Kestrel) and Ballistic Edition Garmin devices.
BNVD-40 NIGHT VISION BINOCULAR
The N-Vision Optics BNVD-40 is a rugged, lightweight, high-performance night vision system designed for military, law enforcement, and civilian applications. Engineered for versatility and durability, the BNVD-40 delivers advanced imaging capabilities in a compact, ergonomic design. It features adjustable diopters and manual gain control, allowing users to tailor image clarity and brightness to mission-specific needs in varying environments. The binoculars incorporate individually articulating monoculars, providing flexibility for low-profile helmet stowage or single-eye monocular use, enhancing adaptability in dynamic situations. An integrated infrared illuminator ensures effective vision in complete darkness without the need for external light sources. Additionally, interpupillary distance (IPD) adjustable stops allow users to lock the monoculars in place consistently for ease of use and quick deployment.

06 Aug 25. EOS secures order for High Energy Laser Weapon System for counter-drone warfare. Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (“EOS”) (ASX: EOS) has secured an order for a drone defence capability using a new 100kW high energy laser technology. EOS is already a global leader in counter-drone capability using traditional kinetic weapons to bring down drones. The new high energy laser builds on these core competencies and substantially extends them.
The order is valued at €71.4 m (approximately A$125 m) and was placed by a European NATO Member State. It requires production and delivery of capability, as well as spare parts, training andocumentation. The world-first export order will be fulfilled during 2025-2028 by EOS in Singapore. The laser system has undergone testing in close collaboration with customers. The system is mobile, for deployment on a truck. To ensure high performance, the system is supplied with algorithms, threat detection, target acquisition and beam locking systems. The system will be integrated into a multi-layered air defence system as part of the project.
EOS has created this new high energy laser capability to address the critical market need to defend against drone swarm attacks at an economical cost.
Dr Andreas Schwer, Chief Executive Officer at EOS, said: “In a world of geopolitical uncertainty and ongoing regional tensions, the ability to swiftly and accurately detect, track and defeat drones is paramount. This is the world’s first export order for a 100-kilowatt class laser defence system. The order follows extensive and ongoing marketing, sales and customer demonstration activity by the EOS team. Our new world-leading laser weapon system has the ability to engage targets instantly. The laser hits the target at the speed of light, unlike a bullet which can take a second or two to get there. The system is very accurate and has a very low cost-per-shot – less than 10 cents per shot. The high power level of this system means it can shoot down more drones faster. The system has been designed to shoot down 20 drones per minute.”
