Teledyne RESON is leading the U-SHIELD project, aiming to develop a drone that can capture and immobilize underwater vehicle threats to infrastructure such as pipelines, communication cables, and offshore energy systems. The project aims to protect critical underwater infrastructure such as pipelines, communication cables, and offshore wind farms, which are facing increasing security threats in Denmark and Europe due to the green transition and expansion of offshore energy facilities.
This project brings together experts from Teledyne RESON, Aalborg University, the Technical University of Denmark, the University of Southern Denmark, and Copenhagen Subsea.

Zelim, a leader in AI-driven maritime safety and security systems, has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the U.S. Navy’s Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC), Division Newport to trial ZOE for the detection of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). The agreement enables Zelim’s participation in BlueTIDE 2025, a high-profile demonstration event led by 401 Tech Bridge, NavalX, and the Northeast Tech Bridge. The event will culminate in a full-scale in-water trial on August 28 in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island.
Zelim is one of just a handful of international companies selected as finalists in the 2025 BlueTIDE Prize Challenge, following a competitive evaluation process.
This year’s mission scenario focuses on protecting critical subsea infrastructure from hostile activity involving small crewed and uncrewed autonomous systems. Zelim’s role in the scenario involves detecting small remotely operated surface vessels operating covertly in sensitive areas, which may pose a precursor threat to subsurface sabotage.
The award-winning ZOE MOB system is already deployed in the cruise industry and offshore sector, detecting, alerting, and tracking persons in the water following man overboard incidents. The same AI engine, trained to identify specific shapes, behaviours and anomalies in complex marine environments, also powers ZOE Shield – a new capability under development that delivers maritime situational awareness by detecting and classifying small surface craft that will be operating without AIS.
ZOE Shield adds automated threat classification and alerting logic, supporting operators with early warning and response capabilities. Critically, the system is immune to GPS denial and radar jamming scenarios, which can disrupt traditional situational awareness technology. The ZOE Shield system will be evaluated during BlueTIDE as part of the Navy’s interest in layered, intelligent safety, security and surveillance.
“This agreement gives us a unique opportunity to trial ZOE Shield in an operational defence scenario at a US Navy facility, where multiple assets, including USVs will be deployed on the mission,” said Sam Mayall, CEO and co-founder of Zelim.
CRADAs allow non-federal entities to collaborate directly with US Navy personnel and facilities without being subject to federal acquisition rules, while also protecting intellectual property and proprietary data throughout the research period.
The BlueTIDE trial will take place off the coast of Newport, Rhode Island, where ZOE will be used to detect and to keep eyes on surface threats as they come within proximity of the critical infrastructure. The goal is to demonstrate how ZOE can improve reaction time and situational awareness in areas where traditional radar or human watchkeeping might miss or misclassify an approaching threat. Data from the demonstration will be shared with the Navy to support capability assessment and further development.
“This is about closing the gap between detection and decision, especially in domains where the threat is small, fast-moving and unpredictable,” Mayall added. “Our mission is to help operators identify anomalous behaviour earlier, whether the goal is rescue or protection. This demo is a vital step toward deploying ZOE for real-world defence scenarios.”

D-Fend Solutions has announced the launch of EnforceAir PLUS, a new offering in its suite of counter-UAS systems that integrates multiple detection and mitigation technologies into a single platform. The system builds on the company’s existing radio frequency (RF) cyber takeover technology and incorporates additional radar detection and an optional jamming capability. According to D-Fend, the integration allows operators to detect, track and mitigate drones through a layered approach that can be adapted depending on the threat.
A central feature of EnforceAir PLUS is what the company calls its “SmartAir” technology fusion engine, which combines radar and RF data into a single operational picture of detected drones. The company states this is intended to simplify decision-making and reduce false positives in threat identification.
The radar component uses compact solid-state radar panels, which, according to D-Fend, extend the detection range beyond what is possible with RF measures alone. The optional jamming module, described as a “Smart RF-Effector,” adds a third defensive layer when cyber takeover or radar-based tracking is insufficient.
EnforceAir PLUS is positioned as a compact and rapidly deployable system. D-Fend highlights that the new platform provides automated calibration, software integration of the three defensive layers and a user interface designed to display a unified view of airspace activity. The system also features an automated suggestion engine that proposes mitigation options for detected drones.
The company noted that current users of its EnforceAir 2 system will have an upgrade path to the new capabilities offered in EnforceAir PLUS.

20 Aug 25. Cuashub.com said today that US Marines seek contractor support for C-UAS training. The Marine Corps is seeking contracted support to provide specialized counter-UAS training for Force Reconnaissance units, according to a SAM.gov solicitation released Monday. These elite Marines, often deployed beyond the forward line of troops, are frequently tasked with engaging active enemy UAS platforms. The solicitation outlines a two-part training program scheduled for September. From Sept. 12–15, up to 12 Marines will undergo a five-day instruction period focused on tactics, techniques and procedures for detecting, mitigating and countering UAS threats. This five-day training will be followed by a Sept. 15–19 field exercise involving 18 Marines and sailors. The exercise will include realistic role players, a mobile command center and simulated combat conditions at a secure, contractor-owned training site. To support the effort, the Marine Corps requires access to at least 2,000 acres of varied terrain and 1,000 feet of controlled airspace. Contractors must provide all training resources, including qualified instructors with recent counter-UAS experience and role players capable of simulating operational scenarios. Each participant who completes the course will receive a certificate.
According to the notice, the program is designed to replicate the operational environments Force Recon Marines are most likely to face in combat. Responses to the solicitation are due Aug. 21.

Raytheon, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business, successfully completed another 360-degree flight test for the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor, or LTAMDS, using one of the radar’s secondary arrays to track and intercept a complex, threat representative target. This follows the radar’s recent Milestone C designation, initiating the transition from prototype to production and deployment.
In this test, LTAMDS, supported an Integrated Battle Command System and a PAC-3 MSE missile intercept of a threat representative target. The test objective was to demonstrate LTAMDS’ successful integration with the recently delivered Large Tactical Power Source (LTPS). The increased power provided by LTPS enables LTAMDS to reach its full battlespace potential.
The high capacity, full coverage provided by LTAMDS three radar arrays enable the defeat of massive, coordinated attacks that include a mix of threats such as drones, advanced aircraft, as well as ballistic, cruise and hypersonic missiles. LTAMDS has now completed nine successful flight tests of increasing complexity to prove its capabilities against real-world threats.

ParaZero Technologies has received a purchase order for its counter-UAS tools from an undisclosed defense organization. On August 14, Sentrycs, a developer of Cyber over RF (CoRF) counter-UAS technology, reported its strongest six-month sales performance to date, positioning the company to double its annual revenue in 2025. The announcement follows a year of rapid expansion, during which Sentrycs tripled its revenue and broadened its global footprint.
Executive Chairman Howard Berkowitz attributed the growth to increasing demand across multiple sectors and geographies.

CobraJet™ is a battery-powered autonomous aircraft that has been engineered to detect, track, identify and neutralise enemy drones at high speeds exceeding 200 mph (320 km/h). Designed primarily for security applications, CobraJet is suitable for providing a layer of defence to critical infrastructure, borders, military bases and public venues. It can deploy from mobile platforms such as trucks, ships or aircraft.
Scalable and available in three trijet versions, V4 and V6 (Group 2), and V8 (Group 3), CobraJet features a 3D printed carbon fiber composite airframe inspired by the 5th-generation Lockheed F-35B and F-22 jets, and the future 6th generation F-47. 12 Aug 25. US Army invests in countering counter-drone systems. The United States Army Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Center said yesterday that it has made “substantial investments” in sensor protection technologies, driven by the growing global proliferation and sophistication of counter weapons systems.
“A growing number of countries are actively developing C-UAS capabilities, with leading efforts underway in the United States, China, Israel, Germany, the United Kingdom and Russia,” C5ISR said in an August 11 press release. “These advancements carry significant strategic implications for a much broader global security landscape.”
The unit is developing technologies to counter adversaries’ counter-uncrewed aerial systems (C-UAS). One critical area will be in GPS denied arenas, where reliance on visual cues, sensors, and sophisticated sensor fusion algorithms.
“If the sensors are rendered inoperable (Hard-Kill), or jammed (temporary sensor disruption), the UAS will no longer be operable,” C5ISR said. “A second major area will be when Aided Target Detection and Recognition (AiTR) algorithms are utilised in UAS to enhance situational awareness.”
The team has already successfully transitioned numerous sensor protection technologies to Army programmes. These capabilities remain largely within the scope of government-exclusive research and development due to the absence of a commercial market.

14 Aug 25. Wild Hornets’ Sting interceptor reaches 315 km/h, shoots down over 200 Shaheds and Gerberas. Ukrainian drone manufacturer Wild Hornets has released a video on its social media showing the company’s Sting interceptor drone accelerating to 315 km/h. This makes the Sting one of the fastest first-person combat drones, Defender Media reports.
The interceptor has been operating at the frontline for two months and Wild Hornets reports that during this time the drone has hit 205 targets – 78 Shaheds and 127 Gerbers.
The drone is equipped with an AI intelligence target guidance system. According to Business Insider, one Sting costs about USD 2,500.
Recently, Defender Media reported on the project of another Shahed interceptor – the reusable Mangust drone with a jet engine and an automatic homing system from the Odessa engineering bureau Tekhnary. According to the developers, it will fly up to the Shaheds, fire a fragmentation charge into the engine or propeller of the enemy drone, and then continue its mission or return to refuel and recharge. 15 Aug 25. Deep-space radar hits key testing milestone. Northrop Grumman is developing the Space Force’s Deep-Space Advanced Radar Capability, which will track activity in geosynchronous orbit.
The Space Force’s deep-space radar hit a testing milestone in recent weeks, using seven of its antennas to track multiple satellites in orbit from a site in Australia.
The Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability, or DARC, is being built by Northrop Grumman to detect and track activity in geosynchronous orbit — from space debris to hostile movement that could harm U.S. or allied satellites.
The ground-based system is slated to be fully operational by 2027 and is the first of three radars the service is building as part of a partnership with Australia and the United Kingdom to improve their visibility into what’s happening on orbit.
The recent demonstration was part of DARC’s integration and testing phase, which started in the last few weeks. The radar will ultimately use 27 parabolic antennas for its deep-space tracks. Kevin Giammo, Northrop’s director for space surveillance and environmental intelligence, told Defense News the ability to use a subset of those shows that the company’s design is solid and ready to scale.
“Each of those parabolic dishes have a certain amount of capability on their own, but as you are able to make these dishes work together as a set of arrays, what you’re really doing is you are creating the equivalent of a very large radar with immense capabilities,” Giammo said.
As the program moves through its test campaign, it will continue to increase the number of antennas it’s using, making its observations more accurate and persistent.
In parallel to its development of the first DARC radar, Northrop is also beginning work on the second system, which will be based in the United Kingdom. The company received a $200 m contract for DARC 2 last year.
The Space Force is currently working with the U.K. government on the environmental assessments and other processes that have to occur before they can begin building on the site. Giammo said the completion of that work will dictate Northrop’s schedule for producing and delivering the radar.
“We certainly will be working to optimize when different aspects of the activity are executed based on how things are progressing with that government-to-government coordination,” he said. “There’s a lot of work that we’re already doing, but there’s certainly more that’s to come.”
Northrop will be able to take advantage of much of the work it’s done on the first radar as it starts to build the second — and eventually the third — system. Giammo noted there may be some design differences between the systems, and the company is working with the Space Force to define what changes are needed for the U.K. radar
“They’re fielding similar sites in different locations, so there’s always some uniqueness that will happen,” he said.
The Space Force’s fiscal 2026 base budget request does not include funding for DARC, though the service has said it plans to use $281 m from Congress’ $150bn reconciliation bill for the effort. (Source: Defense News)

The initiative aims to attract technology and manufacturing partnerships to Texas from the wider Asia-Pacific market. UAVER, formally Carbon-Based Technology Inc., founded in 2007 in Taichung, Taiwan, is regarded as one of the country’s leading aerospace composite manufacturers. The company specializes in using carbon-fiber composite materials to produce fixed-wing UAS for commercial and industrial applications. Its five primary models, Swallow, Accipiter, Besra, Avian RTK and Catapult, are designed for missions including aerial mapping, agricultural surveying, forest monitoring and disaster response, with capabilities for infrared and radiation detection. UAVER holds ISO 9001 and ISO 9100 aerospace quality certifications, as well as NDAA compliance. The company is also expanding into precision image analysis software and complete UAS solutions, which it says will improve post-disaster surveying and environmental monitoring. APOZ project co-founder and ASC Global COO Dr. Eric Fang described UAVER as a pioneer in Taiwan’s UAV industry with “a strong reputation for innovation and precision engineering.” He added that the new Texas plant will assemble UAVER aircraft for customers in North America and other markets. The companies did not disclose the size of the investment, the expected production capacity, or when the Texas facility will become operational.

15 Aug 25. Cuashub.com said today that IPG ships ‘Crossbow’ C-UAS laser weapons to Lockheed Martin. IPG Photonics has delivered multiple units of its new Crossbow laser weapon system to Lockheed Martin. Crossbow is designed to disable small unmanned aerial systems in the “group one” and “group two” categories, the smallest classes of UAS, using IPG’s commercial single-mode fiber lasers. The system is described as scalable and cost-effective, and is aimed at protecting both military and civilian assets from aerial threats.
The Massachusetts-based laser manufacturer has been field-testing Crossbow for the past six months and plans to showcase it at the DSEI UK 2025 defense trade show in London next month. According to IPG, the system integrates into a broader laser weapons strategy but focuses specifically on the challenges posed by smaller drones.
“These small drones that you can buy for hundreds of dollars can inflict major damage,” said IPG CEO Mark Gitin. “It’s a big issue on the battlefield today. And it’s also an issue in civilian infrastructure, for example at borders, and we’re starting to see more of that.”
While Crossbow does not offer the high-power capability needed to defeat larger UAS, artillery or missiles, Gitin said it addresses a critical and growing threat. He added that IPG’s manufacturing capacity allows the system to be offered at a “very disruptive” price point, which the company expects will generate interest from both defense and commercial operators.
“We anticipate strong interest from both defense and commercial customers for protection of critical military and civilian assets,” Gitin said.
IPG describes the new system as part of its expansion into “advanced applications” beyond industrial lasers, an area where it achieved its first counter-UAS milestone six months ahead of schedule.
