The Committee is holding an introductory evidence session with the Chief of the Defence Staff. Topics that the session is expected to cover include the Modernising Defence Programme, the strategic context, recruitment and retention in the Armed Forces, the culture of the Armed Forces, historic allegations and the veterans strategy.

The Committees on Arms Export Controls (CAEC) is publishing on 29 November the Government Response to its report on ‘UK arms exports during 2016’, as its First Joint Special Report.
CAEC comprises four select committees: the Defence Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, International Development Committee and International Trade Committee. It published its first report of the 2017-19 Session, ‘UK arms exports during 2016’, in July 2018.
