14 May 03. Northrop Grumman Corp. (NYSE:NOC – News), Boeing Co. (NYSE:BA – News) and Raytheon Co. (NYSE:RTN – News) received a contract valued at $215 million for weapon- system integration of the Air Force’s E-10A aircraft.
Earlier this week, the companies formed an alliance to develop the E-10A multi-sensor command and control aircraft for the Air Force. The companies said the integration system will use the Northrop Grumman/Raytheon multi-platform radar technology insertion program and a battle management command and control subsystem integrated on a Boeing 767-400ER aircraft.
Northrop is prime contractor for the project, which is to provide enhanced airborne ground surveillance and cruise missile defense.
The new contract covers weapons system integration in the development and demonstration phase of the plan. Work is to be completed by September 2004, the Pentagon said.
Boeing Co. (NYSE:BA – News) is responsible for major structural modification design on the project, and Raytheon Co. (NYSE:RTN – News) will take care of radar installation among other tasks, the companies said on Monday, before the formal awarding of the contract to the Northrop-led team.
