09 Jan 04. Rockwell Collins Inc (NYSE:COL – News), said its purchase of simulator maker NLX LLC would boost revenue in the 2004 financial year by $100m. The firm, which is due to report first quarter earnings later this month, had previously said it expected revenues in the year ended September 30 2004 of $2.7bn, excluding the acquisition, compared with $2.5bn in 2003.

08 Jan 04. BAE Systems North America has achieved a level of systems and software engineering maturity matched by only 13 organisations worldwide. The ‘Level 5’ Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) rating was awarded to BAE Systems Mission Solutions, San Diego, California, and BAE Systems Integrated Systems, Reston, Virginia, by the Software Engineering Institute Dec. 17. Level 5 is the highest SEI rating, and indicates that the two business units are operating at the ‘Optimising Level in its systems and software development processes.

09 Jan 04. Goodrich Corporation and Raytheon Company have signed a teaming agreement under which Goodrich will be the lead manufacturer of composite structures and components for “Team LCS.” Goodrich, through its Jacksonville, Florida-based Engineered Polymer Products division, will support Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems and its current team of John J. McMullen Associates, Umoe Mandal, Atlantic Marine and Northrop Grumman Ship Systems by providing engineering, fabrication, testing and construction of composite structures and components for the Littoral Combat Ship Program.

06 Jan 04. On Dec. 17, the 100th anniversary of manned flight, the U.S. Navy’s RQ-8A Fire Scout VTUAV system made its own history by completing its 100th consecutive successful flight. This milestone flight took place at Webster Outlying Field (OLF) near Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md., where Fire Scout flew a flawless mission in preparation for continuing flight operations onboard the USS Denver (LPD-9). The flight caps 18 months of successful Fire Scout system development, testing and flight demonstrations during which the UAV system has accumulated approximately 75 flight hours.

07 Jan 04. SYNOPTICS, a business unit of Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Space Technology sector has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification, signifying that its quality management standards meet rigorous industry requirements.
