11 Oct 02. TRW ICBM Systems, a unit of TRW Inc. (NYSE:TRW – News), won a $233.5m contract for more engine refurbishing of Minuteman 3 long-range ballistic missiles, the U.S. Air Force said. The service said it was exercising its option for the second full-rate production year of the so-called Propulsion Replacement Program. The total value of the progam is $1.56bn over eight years.

15 Oct 02. Paravant Inc’s. TRI-PLEX division has received a $2m contract to supply their high-speed Eagle Data Recorders to Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc., the prime contractor for the U.S. Air Force’s Satellite Control Network. The company stated that deliveries would begin this quarter and continue through the end of fiscal 2003. With anticipated follow on contracts for this program, Paravant’s total participation is anticipated to be $7 to $9m.

10 Oct 02. Raytheon Company has been awarded two contracts to develop the next-generation anti-jam technology for militarized Global Positioning System (GPS), the first step in production of the Digital Antenna Electronics (DAE) program for all Department of Defense aircraft. Raytheon’s Precision Guidance Systems (PGS) organization was awarded a $1.9m option to its Digital Antenna Electronics (DAE) contract with the U. S. Navy’s Space & Naval Warfare Systems Center for GPS anti-jam research and development. The contract modification authorizes Raytheon to develop, produce, and test DAE prototypes that are compatible with standard aircraft anti-jam antenna systems in preparation for competitive procurement of production DAE units. The DAE production effort is valued at $25m.

11 Oct 02. StockerYale, Inc. has been awarded a contract from BAE SYSTEMS to supply custom-designed thermoelectrically cooled lasers for their Advanced Threat Infrared Countermeasures (ATIRCM) system. StockerYale will initially supply several specialized lasers to the Nashua, N.H.-based Information & Electronic Warfare Systems (IEWS) business unit in the fourth quarter of 2002, with the opportunity for long-term deliveries through 2020.
