Safran Electronics & Defense has launched its latest innovation in the PNT segment: NAVPULSE, an advanced naval data distribution unit (DDU) designed to centralize navigation data from all shipboard sensors and optimize their distribution to generate the optimum navigation solution for users. It meets the rigorous demands of modern naval operations with an atomic clock and algorithms ensuring enhanced timing synchronization, anti-jamming and anti-spoofing detection to offer seamless and secure operations.
High-precision timing synchronization is essential for fleet-wide coordination in mission-critical operations such as communication, navigation, and self-defense. Robust anti-jamming and anti-spoofing protection also ensure the integrity and security of navigation and communication data and therefore protects naval assets from external threats. This is why NAVPULSE is designed to support comprehensive data distribution, delivering time, attitude, and precise navigation data across weapon systems, observation sights, and other shipboard systems, even in harsh or GNSS-denied environments.

05 Nov 24. Fincantieri announced a significant new collaboration with EDGE Group to jointly develop advanced underwater solutions. This partnership was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the prestigious EURONAVAL exhibition in Paris.
The newly established MAESTRAL joint venture will focus on the design, development, and construction of both manned and unmanned underwater systems, enhancing capabilities in the United Arab Emirates and addressing the unique underwater needs of navies worldwide.
This strategic collaboration represents EDGE Group’s first foray into the underwater domain, allowing both organisations to leverage their extensive technical expertise and resources. The MoU was signed by key leaders from both companies, including Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE Group, and Mr. Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri Group.

04 Nov 24. MACOM Selected to Lead Advanced GaN-on-SiC Semiconductor Technology Development Project. MACOM Technology Solutions Inc. (“MACOM”), a leading supplier of semiconductor products, today announced that it has been selected to lead a development project to establish advanced gallium nitride (“GaN”) on silicon carbide (SiC) process technologies for radio frequency (“RF”) and microwave applications. Funded by the CHIPS and Science Act (“CHIPS”) through the United States Department of Defense (DoD), the project will focus on developing semiconductor manufacturing processes for GaN-based materials and monolithic microwave integrated circuits (“MMICs”) operating efficiently at high voltage and at millimeter-wave (“mmW”) frequencies.

MACOM is a member of the Commercial Leap-Ahead for Wide Bandgap Semiconductors (CLAWS) Microelectronics Commons Hub and will work with North Carolina State University, Adroit Materials and the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) on this project. The year 1 value of this award is $3.4m.
This award expands upon a series of GaN technology development activities with the DoD, including a 2021 Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the United State Air Force Research Laboratory (“AFRL”) where MACOM successfully transferred AFRL’s 0.14 micron GaN-on-SiC MMIC process to its Massachusetts-based U.S. Trusted Foundry. This was followed in 2023 by a $4m AFRL contract to develop GaN technologies for mmW applications and a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) award valued at up to $10.1 m aimed at improved heat dissipation for high power applications. Earlier this year, MACOM was awarded a separate CHIPS-funded GaN technology development contract worth up to $11.4 m.

Rackspace Technology® (NASDAQ: RXT), a leading hybrid, multicloud, and AI technology services company, today announced the expansion of Rackspace Spot with a new geographic location and an on-demand GPU-as-a-Service powered by NVIDIA accelerated computing. The expansion comes as the demand for compute power is expected to continue to grow at a rapid pace.
