30 May 06. Raytheon Company’s SLAMRAAM (Surface Launched Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile) program marked the delivery of the first Integrated Fire Control Shelter (IFCS) May 26 at a ceremony at Boeing’s Huntsville, Ala., facility. The IFCS provides command and control for multiple SLAMRAAM fire units, thus enabling integrated fire control capabilities. The Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems’ (IDS) SLAMRAAM system of systems provides the warfighter a tailorable, state of the art air defense system that can defeat current and emerging cruise missile threats and a wide range of so-called air breathing threats. As prime system integrator, Raytheon will now integrate the air and missile defense common software to complete the IFCS functionality and prepare the IFCS for entry into the SLAMRAAM test program. The IFCS is the first of five to be designed and developed by subcontractor Boeing.
