30 Mar 16. Saab and Microsoft HoloLens Working to Redefine the Training and Education Experience. Defence and security company Saab will be redefining how the world experiences training and education delivery through the creation of highly innovative applications for the Microsoft HoloLens platform. Saab is pleased to have been selected by Microsoft to participate in the HoloLens Enterprise Acceleration Program, which is now enabling Saab to build a range of ground breaking training, education and other complex 3D Holographic applications. With the official launch of Microsoft HoloLens, Saab’s transformation of the training and education experience begins today.
Saab is constantly developing and supporting complex software systems to be able to offer modern solutions for todays and future needs. Microsoft provides the revolutionary Mixed Reality HoloLens platform to enable rich holographic content to be viewed in the physical world around you. The Saab training platform on Microsoft HoloLens creates a 3D holographic training environment that enables faster learning, better retention, and more detailed assessment that simply was not possible before now.

Saab has a strong background in advanced software and training systems. With the assistance of Microsoft, enabling full utilisation of the HoloLens Platform, Saab Australia has begun establishing a HoloLens Applications Studio and Centre of Excellence in Adelaide, South Australia. The studio team of software engineers and experienced trainers will be working with government and industry to develop advanced 3D mixed reality training systems.

30 Mar 16. Lithuania receives new communication equipment. The Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence has received the first delivery of communication equipment, procured as part of the European Reassurance Initiative (ERI) and other foreign assistance funds.
The first batch included various modifications of Harris Falcon III new-generation tactical communications equipment.
Lithuanian Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas said: “The equipment delivered by the US once again proves its solidarity and firm commitment to collective defence.
“New tactical communications equipment will help Lithuanian military secure interoperability with its allies while delivering on common tasks.”
The delivery will be distributed across different units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
The new equipment will also be tested at Exercise Iron Wolf, scheduled to take place later this year.
US permanent representative to Nato Ambassador Douglas Lute said: “Lithuania’s decision to strengthen their land force and ground-to-air communications is an example of delivering on their national responsibility for self-defence, embedded in Article 3 of the Nato Treaty.
“The use of ERI funds to help secure the radio equipment demonstrates the continued commitment of the US to helping strengthen our Allies’ ability to address new and emerging threats along Nato’s borders.”
