18 Jul 13. GE Intelligent Platforms announced a significant upgrade to its AXISLib integrated software development environment that will speed the development of High Performance Embedded Computing (HPEC) applications. AXISLib-AVX release 2 enables users of GE’s recently-announced SBC326 rugged OpenVPX single board computer, as well as GE’s entire family of soon-to-be-announced platforms based on the 4th generation Intel® Core™ i7 ‘Haswell’ processor, to take maximum advantage of the performance it offers while reducing development time, cost and risk. AXISLib-AVX release 2, with the full Core 1.0+ VSIPL API, extends support beyond Intel’s AVX1.0 256-bit floating point unit introduced on 2nd and 3rd generation Core processors, allowing maximum benefit to be obtained from the AVX2.0 technology available with Intel 4th generation Corei7 Windows®, Linux® and VxWorks® operating system platforms. It does this by adding support for the newly-available fused multiply add (FMA), bit manipulation and 256-bit wide integer instructions. It also supports multi-threaded operation to extract maximum performance from Intel’s hyper-threaded multi-core platform. Together, these new capabilities can make a significant contribution to higher performance in a range of demanding multi-threaded, multi-core signal processing ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance) applications.

27 Jul 13. The U.S Army Contracting Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 2005, intends to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) on or about 15 November 2013 for the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) JC4ISR Automated Command and Control (JC4ISR-C2) Tactical System (JCTS) Project. The scope of this acquisition includes, but is not limited to procurement of material and engineering services to include field installation, integration testing, logistics/training support for the JCTS System in support of the (JAF). An additional component of this effort will be providing a realistic training environment for JAF user and maintenance personnel. The purpose of this acquisition will be to develop and maintain real time situational awareness for both friendly and threat forces. The Government intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price contract for actual equipment procurement, installation, and integration, through final system acceptance and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) with a period of performance not exceeding thirty months. Any contract award will also include fully transferable commercial warranties to the host country for a period of not less than 12 months after the contract’s period of performance ends. Raytheon Company and Twisted Pair Solutions, a Seattle-based provider of mission-critical solutions for secure, real-time communication, unveiled a next-generation dispatch system deployed for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff. This state-of-the-art dispatch center is one of the first in the nation to be purely IP-based and supports the use of smartphones and tablets for seamless first responder critical communications, anywhere, on any device. The Raytheon-provided solution uses the company’s industry-leading interoperability gateway to enable communications with San Luis Obispo County’s existing radio systems. The solution also incorporates Twisted Pair’s WAVE® Dispatch Communicator that turns a standards-based PC into a richly-featured communications dispatch console. The WAVE® Mobile Communicator turns any Android™, Apple® iOS®, BlackBerry® and Windows Mobile® smartphone into a multi-channel land mobile radio (LMR) handset for secure, on-demand push to talk (PTT) communication. On hand for the unveiling were computer science students from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, who were able to participate in live demonstrations
