20 Jul 04. To meet the increasingly demanding military requirements for optimum communications security, Thales has launched the TopSIS Secure Intercommunications System. The airborne variants provide totally secure voice communications throughout the air vehicle. The system has been approved by UK CESG for the processing and routing of classified voice information around the aircraft to other intercom users and off the aircraft, via approved encryption devices. TopSIS is optimised to interface with modern software radios including BOWMAN and JTRS; current and evolving NATO encryption systems and audio navigation and warning sources, providing clear and secure separation to NATO Tempest standards using an advanced fibre optic network. TopSIS has evolved from the Thales RA 800 system onboard EH101, RAF Chinook Mk2/2A and Mk3, Lynx HMA Mk8, RAF Sentinel R Mk1 and Tiger for the Australian Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH). Designed specifically to comply with the UK MoD and US DoD High Grade Security requirements, the TopSIS modular design enables straightforward installation to all types of aircraft and helicopters as line or retrofit.
