Northrop Grumman Corporation has achieved two milestones that helped prepare the U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Airborne Laser (ABL) aircraft for integration of the Northrop Grumman-developed high-energy laser. Both accomplishments contributed to MDA’s success in meeting its fifth and final ‘Knowledge Point’ or milestone for 2007 covering high-power systems integration readiness, continuing recent program progress. Northrop Grumman’s Space Technology sector completed inspection and refurbishment of the components and parts that compose the Chemical Oxygen Iodine Laser (COIL), a megawatt-class laser the company designed and built for the ABL program. In conjunction with The Boeing Company, ABL’s prime contractor, Northrop Grumman also completed extensive engineering drawings for the installation of the laser. The drawings incorporate streamlined processes and other improvements learned during ground tests concluded in 2005.

03 Jan 08. The new Mirasys Network Video Recorder has been designed to run one to five thousand different cameras. Combined with two-way audio, input of text messages, alarms and I/O data this offers powerful features and flexibility at a cost effective price. N series software provides synchronous presentation of all the above features in a simple, intuitive way. Combining your own building plans allows the triggered camera to identify it’s position within a building anywhere in the World. The N series allows up to 100 NVRs on a system giving the potential of controlling 5,000 cameras. Alarms can be triggered by movement, audio or I/O inputs with advanced features such as adaptive or connected. Adaptive alarm allows the system to understand what is normal movement in the monitored areas and then discounts this movement, ensuring that alarms are more reliable. Connected joins a number of cameras together when an alarm is triggered so that several view points can be monitored. The open platform software also enables faster and easier integration with other systems and partner plug-ins and prevents redundancy due to obsolescence. Search tools include time/date, audio level and event triggered recordings. The system allows local or central surveillance and management and full PZT camera control improving flexibility of use. A software- based Watchdog will send e-mail notifications of any problems that might occur such as loss of network, video signals, etc. Simultaneous support for both JPEG and MPEG-4 from all leading leading camera manufactures is provided and recorded data is stored in RAID 0 format for security. All recorded data is watermarked and can be one-click exported to CD/DVD. Mirasys N series is a state-of-the-art, high performance software for network video surveillance applications of any type, scope and size. It fulfils the requirements of even the most challenging security applications.

04 Jan 08. Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Sperry Marine business unit has received type approval from the U.K. certification body, QinetiQ, for its new-generation VisionMaster FT(tm) suite of marine navigation systems. The QinetiQ type approval certifies that the VisionMaster FT electronic chart display and information system (ECDIS) conforms to the International Electrotechnical Commission technical specifications and International Maritime Organization (IMO) performance standards. The type approval also authorizes Sperry Marine to mark the products with the European Union Wheelmark insignia, signifying compliance with applicable European Council directives. Sperry Marine’s VisionMaster FT radar and chart radar systems also received QinetiQ type approval last year.
