03 Apr 15. Enhanced Blast Grenades for infantry. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced a possible procurement of Enhanced Blast Grenades (EBG) for soldiers in the dismounted close combat role. The procurement is anticipated to include operational and training variants, with delivery of the first batch required in FY 2015/16. Measured against the performance of the current in-service unit, the EBG will be assessed in the following areas: Battlefield Effect; Terminal Effect; Climatic and Environment; Munition Sensitivity; System and Design Safety;
Human Factors; Deployability; Training; Sustainment; Policy and Legal; Capability Resilience and Reliability.
At this stage, interested parties are required to confirm by the deadline their capability of meeting the procurement requirements.

03 Apr 15. Explosive breaching kit required. The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced a possible procurement an Explosive Method of Entry (EMOE) Suite for soldiers in the dismounted close combat breaching role. The procurement is expected to include Igniferous Integrated Firing devices, sheet explosives, and detonator boosters. Delivery of the first batch would be required by March 2016. The technical requirements of the EMOE Suite will base base-lined against the current in-service unit, and will be assessed in the following areas: Battlefield Effect; Terminal Effect; Climatic and Environment; Munition Sensitivity;
System and Design Safety; Human Factors; Deployability; Training; Sustainment; Policy and Legal; Capability Resilience and Reliability.

02 Apr 15. United States Army requires breaching ammunition. The US Army has identified a potential requirement for Door Breach (DB) ammunition. The Army Contracting Command has issued a Sources Sought notice to gain input from companies capable of producing 40mm Low-Velocity (LV) Door Breach (DB) ammunition. According to the notice, the ammunition “should be capable of breaching a variety of wood and metal doors in single/double door configurations while not endangering the gunner.”
The notice suggests that the Army is seeking ammunition compatible with the M320 and M203 single-shot
Grenade Launcher Module (GLM).

02 Apr 15. USA – New grenadier day/night sight for Army. The Army has issued a draft Request For Proposal (RFP) for the Grenadier Sighting System (GSS) along with the government’s answers to questions from industry. The GSS is intended to replace the existing day/night sight used with the M320/M320A1 Grenade Launcher Module (GLM). According to the notice, the GSS “will address the capability gap within forces to effectively engage targets, from 100 to 350 meters during day and 100 to 200 meters at night, with the M320/M320A1 GLM.” The intention is to award a multiple award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for a short term advanced developmental effort, with a down-select to a single vendor for production. The date for the release of the final RFP has not yet been announced.
