6 Feb 26. Electro Optic Systems (EOS) today officially opened its new Singapore facility, establishing a regional hub for the manufacturing, integration and testing of high energy laser capability for regional and international customers. The site represents a major milestone in EOS’ global growth strategy and long-term commitment to Singapore’s defence science and technology ecosystem.

Designed to support partners and customers in Singapore and across the broader region, the facility provides dedicated space for system integration, development, demonstration and sustainment activity. It expands EOS’ capacity to deliver at scale, strengthens supply chain resilience, and enables faster response to regional customer requirements.

The facility directly supports EOS’ growing pipeline of international high energy laser contracts and customer engagements. These include a world-first export order for a 100 kW-class laser weapon system for the Netherlands, and a binding conditional agreement with a customer in the Republic of Korea covering the manufacture and supply of a further 100 kW-class laser system and the establishment of a local partnership for the Korean market. Production and integration activities associated with these engagements are expected to be supported by the Singapore facility.

As drones become more sophisticated and are employed in greater numbers, defence forces are seeking solutions capable of defeating complex and saturation threats. EOS’ high energy laser capability, including Apollo, is engineered to integrate with modern, layered air defence architectures, providing a precise and scalable response with low cost per engagement, effectively unlimited ammunition and full directional coverage, including vertical engagement.

“The Singapore facility will operate as EOS’ centre of excellence in laser technology innovation, supporting multiple international laser projects. As demand grows, EOS expects future expansion to increasingly involve localised production and integration, driven by customer requirements for sovereignty and long-term control of capability development,” said Andreas Schwer, Chief Executive Officer, EOS.

 

05 Feb 26. Raytheon to ramp up missile production in Pentagon deals.  Raytheon, a division of RTX, announced Wednesday that it would ramp up production of several key missile systems, weeks after President Donald Trump threatened to nix the company’s government contracts unless it invested more in manufacturing. The defense giant said it reached five agreements with the Pentagon to accelerate annual deliveries of these precision munitions — by as much as four times their current rates — including more than 1,000 Tomahawk cruise missiles, at least 1,900 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles and roughly 500 SM-6 missiles. Production of SM-3 IIA and SM-3 IB missile defense interceptors are also expected to rise.

“These agreements redefine how government and industry can partner to speed the delivery of critical technologies and are a direct result of the administration’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy and commitment to deliver the best technologies faster,” RTX CEO Chris Calio said in a statement.

“We are proud to support the department’s Arsenal of Freedom to ensure the United States and its allies and partners have the decisive edge — now and in the future,” he added.

Manufacturing under the deal will take place at facilities in Huntsville, Alabama; Tucson, Arizona; and Andover, Massachusetts. The announcement follows weeks of the president piling pressure on the defense industry for moving too slowly to produce military equipment. Trump, in a sweeping Jan. 7 executive order, prohibited stock buybacks and dividends at companies until “they are able to produce a superior product, on time and on budget.”

“I am committed to ensuring that the United States military possesses the most lethal warfighting capabilities in the world,” the order reads. “While the United States produces the best military equipment in the world, we do not make enough of it quickly enough to meet the needs of our military and our partners.”

The order also gave Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth authority to review firms who are deemed “underperforming” and, where necessary, implement remediations to address shortfalls. Trump at the time singled out Raytheon, calling it “the least responsive to the needs of the Department of War, the slowest in increasing their volume, and the most aggressive in spending on their Shareholders rather than the needs and demands of the United States Military.” He warned that the Pentagon would cut business ties with the company unless it “steps up” on investment in plants and equipment. RTX, during a post earnings call last week, said it plans to make a $500 million increase in investments in 2026, enhancing facilities that make munitions. (Source: Defense News)

 

04 Feb 26. US Marine attack helicopters to field long-range missiles by 2027. Long-range precision-guided missiles will become a new attack capability for U.S. Marine Corps AH-1Z Viper helicopters by 2027, the U.S. Navy announced Friday. The Navy awarded an $86.2m contract to L3Harris Technologies that will see the company’s Red Wolf missile systems be produced for the Marine Corps’ Precision Attack Strike Munition program, according to a Naval Air Systems Command release. The missiles, plus training and support materials, are to be provided by the end of fiscal 2027. The systems will enable Marine attack helicopters flying at low altitudes to strike maritime targets with both kinetic and nonkinetic effects from across long distances. In December, a Marine AH-1Z Viper helicopter launched a Red Wolf system at a maritime target in a demonstration. The Red Wolf is part of L3Harris’ package of launched effects called the Wolf Pack. The systems are autonomous missiles that zero in on targets from up to 200 nautical miles away and can be deployed in swarms. The Red Wolf is designed for kinetic strikes, while its sister missile, the Green Wolf, delivers electronic warfare capabilities.

“Recent conflicts and incursions over NATO airspace, particularly with the increased use of mass-produced drones, demonstrates the urgent need for cost-effective alternatives to exquisite munitions,” Christopher Kubasik, chairman and CEO of L3Harris, said in a statement.

“Our proven Red Wolf system can bring affordable mass to the Marines’ arsenal of advanced munitions within the timeline U.S. officials have outlined to support the most lethal fighting force in the world.” (Source: Defense News)

 

05 Feb 26. Singapore Airshow 2026: ST Engineering debuts Taurus UGV with Adder weapon station. ST Engineering has unveiled a Taurus unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) equipped with an Adder remote weapon station (RWS). This pairing is being showcased for the first time at the Singapore Airshow 2026 to illustrate the spectrum of missions that can be undertaken by the UGV, including in operations against emerging threats. The Adder is a series of modular weapon stations that can be fitted with a variety of payloads, including radars, jammers, and directed energy weapon systems. This allows the Taurus UGV to counter ground and aerial targets, said a representative who spoke to Janes at the airshow. This flexibility extends to its kinetic options, with the ability to mount 7.62 mm weapons, and, for larger variants, lightweight 30 mm systems. For the mock-up at the airshow, the Taurus UGV is fitted with a Lite variant of the Adder RWS. An effector on the RWS that was highlighted by the ST Engineering representative is the HELMA-LP [High Energy Laser for Multiple Applications – Low Power] laser rifle developed by French firm CILAS. This allows the Taurus UGV to engage emerging threats such as small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with a directed energy weapon in addition to the usual kinetic options, the representative said. Besides these weapons, the Taurus UGV’s architecture is sensor and effector agnostic, enabling integration with a range of third-party systems, the representative added. In addition to combat operations, the Taurus UGV has been developed for auxiliary roles including logistics support, security and patrol, casualty evacuation, and material handling. 05 Feb 26. Singapore Airshow 2026: ST Engineering launches AME series of infantry arms. ST Engineering formally launched its AME series of infantry weapons at the Singapore Airshow 2026, marking the family’s first full public debut following an earlier soft reveal at DSEI 2025 in the United Kingdom. Speaking to Janes at the show, Tay Han Koon, head of Small Arms at ST Engineering, described the AME series as a line that was developed in response to overseas market demand for highly modular rifles. The AME series comprises several distinct models, each chambered for the 5.56×45 mm NATO cartridge and operating on a direct impingement system. All models feature fully ambidextrous controls, including fire safety selectors, magazine releases, bolt releases, and charging handles, ensuring ease of use for both left- and right-handed operators. The design also incorporates a six-position adjustable butt-stock, barrel harmonics tuned for optimal stability and weight, and improved weapon control ergonomics. The AME-A510 is the compact variant, featuring a 10 inch barrel, an overall length of 700 mm, and an unloaded weight of 2.6 kg. It has a muzzle velocity of 770 m/s and a rate of fire between 700 and 950 rounds per minute, making it ideal for troops operating in confined environments, said Tay. The AME-A514 serves as the standard assault rifle, equipped with a 14 inch barrel, an overall length of 820 mm, and an unloaded weight of 2.7 kg. It delivers a muzzle velocity of 850 m/s and maintains the same rate of fire as its related variants. This rifle is optimised for general infantry use, balancing range, accuracy, and manoeuvrability. 03 Feb 26. Taiwan’s Tron Future unveils AI-guided anti-armor rockets. The Taiwan-based company Tron Future has unveiled an AI-assisted system that guides anti-armor rockets, which could help to accelerate the training of civilians and soldiers during a war, according to company officials. The Singapore Airshow, organized here from Feb 3-8, marks the first time the T-Scope has been shown overseas. The device was designed specifically for unguided munitions and uses a variety of sensors and AI to instantly calculate and predict the projectile flight paths, taking into account environmental and physical factors.

“What we’re doing rather than placing sensors on the rocket itself, is we are putting them into an AI-driven guidance kit, which essentially transforms unguided rockets into precision-guided munitions to improve their accuracy for cheaper,” Alan Kuo, Tron Future’s director of sales, told Defense News.

Taiwan has been gradually building up its inventory of anti-tank weapons, including an unknown number of unguided rocket-propelled grenades, to deter potential attacks.

Wang said they were approached by one of the country’s leading defense institutes to develop a device that could help quickly mobilize personnel, if needed.

“By combining automated complex ballistic calculations and displaying a live corrected aiming point, T.Scope allows soldiers to achieve marksman-level proficiency within a very compressed training timeframe,” Kuo added. “It would allow for combat readiness even under limited preparation.”

Although it has already been tested, the company is hopeful that it will receive army certification before the end of the year. Further testing has already been planned to see how it performs in shallow water, per a request from the undisclosed defense institute. The National Chung-Shan Institute of Science Technology, or NCSIST, is largely regarded as the leading research and development center in the defense sector in Taiwan. It focuses on designing and producing indigenous weapons, including missiles and unmanned systems. Tron Future’s counter-drone radars have been used by the Taiwanese Army for several years. The company has also been assisting the government in integrating counter-drone technologies with Taiwan’s low Earth orbit satellites through its T.SpaceRouter user terminals to increase the island’s communication resilience. 30 Jan 26. Russia to showcase new MLRS at Saudi weapons show, seeking local ties.  Russia will unveil its newest multiple launch rocket system, the Sarma, at the World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh next month, marking Moscow’s latest effort to court Middle Eastern defense customers despite Western sanctions targeting its defense industry. The 300mm Sarma MLRS, mounted on a KAMAZ-63501 8×8 armored chassis, represents Russia’s attempt to field a lighter, more mobile alternative to its existing heavy rocket artillery systems, state tech corporation Rostec announced Jan. 30. The system features six launch tubes, a reduced configuration compared to the 12-tube Tornado-S and BM-30 Smerch systems currently in Russian service, according to imagery shown on Russian television. Russia moved the Sarma from prototype to procurement in late 2025, ordering two divisions comprising 12 launchers and 12 transport loading vehicles at a total cost of approximately 2.6 bn Rubles ($35 m), according to contract data reported by Ukrainian defense publication Militarnyi. Moscow needs to deploy more survivable artillery systems on a battlefield increasingly dominated by counter-battery radars and loitering munitions.​ The Sarma’s three-person crew can conduct all operations from within the armored cabin, which Rostec says protects against shrapnel and armor-piercing incendiary ammunition. The system can also be operated remotely from a shelter, addressing Russian concerns about crew vulnerability to drone attacks and precision strikes. Russian sources claim the system can fire guided rockets to ranges approaching 200 kilometers. Crew survivability has become a key concern on the battlefield in Ukraine, which is swarming with explosive-laden drones seeking out foot soldiers. The decision to premiere the system in Riyadh underscores Rosoboronexport’s continued interest in Middle Eastern markets, where regional militaries often prioritize hardy and relatively cheap systems capable of operating in rough conditions, and authoritarian governments are more agnostic toward great power politics. By showcasing a lighter 300mm platform alongside more established systems, Russia is positioning itself as an alternative to Western and Asian competitors in a market segment that includes the U.S.-made HIMARS and similar precision rocket artillery. While Rosoboronexport remains subject to extensive U.S. and European sanctions targeting Russia’s defense industry and financial sector, no United Nations embargo restricts Russian conventional arms exports, and several Middle Eastern states do not apply Western sanctions regimes or have the same moral qualms about striking a deal with Moscow. The World Defense Show 2026 runs Feb. 8 through 12 at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center under the auspices of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense. Russia’s exhibition will also include the BTR-22 8×8 armored vehicle, the Ballista remote weapon station, and the Planshet-A fire control system, according to Russian state media. 30 Jan 26. Voyager breaks ground on Pueblo missile defence complex expansion. The expanded complex will support high-volume production of weapon components and propulsion systems among others. Voyager Technologies has commenced construction on an expansion project at the Voyager American Defense Complex in Pueblo, Colorado. This comes in response to the Pentagon’s request for industry to speed up domestic missile defence and tactical munitions production. The expanded complex will cover 150,000ft2 within PuebloPlex’s 16,000 acres and include over 1,000 earth-covered magazines. Its purpose is to boost the output of weapon system components, propulsion systems, and energetic grains used by the US military. The enlarged facility will also enable further development of Voyager’s proprietary controllable propulsion technologies. Furthermore, the site will accommodate chemical and black powder development programmes that have received more than $39m in federal funding, supporting efforts to re-establish these manufacturing capabilities within the US. The facility aims to integrate design, manufacturing, assembly and testing processes by combining telemetry data with AI-driven supply chain management in order to reduce lead times and expedite delivery. Voyager intends to implement advanced robotics and automation technologies at the facility, a move expected to improve efficiency in clean-sheet design and live testing activities. According to the company, this approach may allow for up to 90% greater efficiency, producing higher output rates with a focus on safety and scalability. H.E. Whitlock, a contractor based in Pueblo, is overseeing construction activities and is employing more than 75 local tradespeople and subcontractors for the project. The expansion is set to reinforce the region’s role in the US munitions and energetics supply chain. Voyager co-founder and president Matt Kuta said: “We are building the capacity the Pentagon is counting on to achieve President Trump’s peace through strength mandate.

“As global threats increase and the Department of War accelerates missile-defence and tactical-munitions orders, Voyager is expanding the US industrial base with the capacity, scale and speed needed to meet national-security demand.”

02 Feb 26.  CSG and HDS to launch JV for ammunition production in Greece. The initiative aims to strengthen production capabilities in Lavrio and enhance CSG’s integration within ammunition manufacturing. Czechoslovak Group (CSG) and Greek state-owned enterprise Hellenic Defence Systems (HDS) are set to form a joint venture (JV) named Hellenic Ammunition, aimed at producing large-calibre ammunition in Greece. The document includes detailed information on the manufacturers and suppliers and their products, along with contact details, to inform your purchasing decision. In this connection, MSM Greece, a subsidiary of CSG, has formalised agreements with Hellenic Defence Systems. This initiative is expected to enhance strategic production capabilities in Lavrio and bolster CSG’s integration in ammunition manufacturing. The founding documents of the joint venture were signed in Athens by MSM Greece’s managing director Jiří Schönweitz and Hellenic Defence Systems CEO Christoforos Boutsikakis. Key agreements include the Articles of Association and a concession agreement, marking the official establishment of Hellenic Ammunition.

Schönweitz said: “We would like to thank everyone involved in making this venture possible, with special thanks to Hellenic Defence Systems for their trust, as well as to the Greek government and the relevant ministries for their forward-looking approach and recognition of the project’s potential. We are confident that, in the future, all those involved will look back with pride on this important step, which will help place the Greek defence manufacturing industry back on the world map where it belongs.”

The agreements grant MSM managerial control over the Lavrio production site for 25 years, facilitating an extensive investment and modernisation programme. The facility currently employs around 120 workers, with plans to hire an additional 180 by year-end, bringing total employment to about 300 in total. Production at the Lavrio plant is set to expand, with 155mm ammunition already being manufactured and more calibres planned for later this year. The introduction of base bleed grain production is a significant technological advance scheduled for the latter half of this year. The project further includes reviving TNT production in Lavrio. Historical outsourcing has limited explosives production in Europe, but this project aims to restore those capacities, including producing key intermediate products. Production is expected to commence between 2026 and 2027. Overall investments in Lavrio will be substantial, with CSG committing up to €50m ($59m) over time. Hellenic Defence Systems CEO Christoforos Boutsikakis said: “The restoration of large-calibre ammunition production in Lavrio is a strategic step for the Greek defence industry and for Europe’s security.

“The joint venture with CSG brings investment, modern technologies and know-how that will enable sustainable long-term development of capacities and the creation of hundreds of jobs.”

In December 2025, CSG secured a contract to supply small-calibre ammunition to a Southeast Asian nation’s Ministry of Defence, valued at several hundred m US dollars. However, CSG did not reveal the customer’s name, nor the volume or type of ammunition, citing security reasons. (Source: army-technology.com)
