21 Nov 12. Renault Trucks Defense To Offer Armored Vehicle for Export.
Renault Trucks Defense (RTD) plans to open a new assembly line for the Véhicule Avant Blindé (VAB) Mk3, an upgraded version of its troop carrier aimed at export markets, which are forecast to make up at least half of the company’s annual sales by 2015, said Chief Executive Gérard Amiel. On Oct. 25, RTD, part of the Swedish Volvo commercial trucks group, completed the 538m Swedish krona ($79m) acquisition of Panhard General Defense, the French maker of light armored vehicles. The Panhard acquisition is a move toward RTD’s target of making 700 million euros ($888.6mi) in annual sales by 2015 and is seen as a step toward consolidation in the French land systems industry. 19 Nov 12. Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. KG (KMW) delivers an Egress Trainer for various types of military wheeled and tracked vehicles to the Swedish Armed Forces in 2013. The purpose of the system is to simulate a vehicle rollover in order for vehicle crews to be trained to egress a vehicle lying on its side or upside down. KMW Training & Simulation will deliver the Egress Training System together with it´s partner MSE Weibull AB from Sweden in 2013. The Egress Trainer contains the rollover simulator, the instructor station and the vehicle cabin which can be exchanged within short time due to the sophisticated design of universal mounting brackets. A digital audio/video surveillance system with record and replay function serves as the tool for training analysis and debriefing but is also the key component to provide maximum safety during all training operations. The vehicle mock-ups can be as large as the
Swedish CV90 IFV including a rotatable turret.

21 Nov 12. Turkish government officials are predicting that a domestic armored vehicle company will deliver all prototypes of the country’s first national main battle tank by next year, “one or two years” ahead of time. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the announcement Nov. 15, at a ceremony for the rollout of the first prototype in this western Turkish town. More than four years after signing a $500m contract with the private company Otokar, Turkey is looking forward to obtaining the first four Altay prototypes next year.
“The four prototypes will undergo performance tests throughout 2013, and then we will pass into the final prototypes and serial production,” Erdogan said. He did not give exact times.Erdogan added that with improvements in the past 10 years, since his government came to power, Turkey will now have the “unmanned aerial vehicles that only the United States and Israel” have in the world. Millbrook, based in Bedfordshire, UK, makes a significant contribution to the quality and performance of military vehicles worldwide. Its specialist expertise is focussed in two distinct areas: test programmes to help armed services and their suppliers ensure that their vehicles and systems work as the specification requires; and design and build work to upgrade new or existing vehicles, evaluate vehicle capability and investigate in-service failures. Complementing these is driver and service training and a hospitality business that allows customers to use selected areas of Millbrook’s remarkable facilities for demonstrations and exhibitions.
