06 Jun 25. REVA launches new security vehicles. The new Super Bulk and Retail cash in transit vehicles at Securex 2025. Coinciding with the Securex 2025 exhibition held at Gallagher Estate this week, Integrated Convoy Protection (ICP) has launched three new security vehicle models: a new double cab version of its Mahindra-based Light Security Vehicle (LSV), as well as new versions of its Super Bulk CIT and UD-based Retail CIT vehicles. The original single cab version of the LSV was launched at the 2023 edition of Securex two years ago. It features a cab armoured to B6 level, which provides protection against assault rifles, including the AK-47 (7.62×39 mm), R5 (5.56×45 mm) and R1 (7.52×51 mm). The Mahindra Pik Up-based vehicle is one of the most cost effective ballistic protected patrol vehicles on the market, costing less than R1 million for the base model. Available in 2×4 or 4×4 configuration, the vehicle is ideally suited for patrolling and guarding operations. The double cab LSV was officially launched on Wednesday 4 June, at the offices of a private security contractor – its launch customer. It is powered by a 2.2 litre diesel engine driving a six-speed automatic transmission. GVM is 3 450 kg. Nadine Rynners, Integrated Convoy Protection CEO, said there has been a lot of interest in the LSV from the African market, especially as there is a trend towards smaller, lighter vehicles. Feedback from single cab users has been excellent, she added, but believes there is a bigger requirement for a double cab as it can be used for example by canine units, or to carry extra equipment. At Securex 2025, ICP REVA also displayed its next-generation REVA Super Bulk high value security vehicle and UD-based Retail cash in transit vehicle. Since they were launched two years ago, they have been significantly upgraded: the Super Bulk carrier is larger and offers unrivalled overmatch protection against both ballistic and blast threats, while the Retail version is available with a new drivetrain, increasing engine power by 50%. The REVA Super Bulk CIT vehicle features a full STANAG Level 1 (kinetic energy) protected armoured body with a low centre of gravity. With a GVM just below 16 tons, it is fitted with next-generation blast-tested safes, increasing blast protection. The protected payload has been increased by a third. It is powered by a Cummins 5.9 litre diesel engine developing 230 hp, driving a six-speed Allison 2500P automatic transmission. The Retail CIT vehicle is powered by a 5.1 litre UD diesel engine providing 210 hp and paired with a six-speed Allison 2500P automatic transmission. This vehicle also provides STANAG Level 1 protection at a GVM of 9 tons. The Super Bulk and Retail CIT vehicles at Securex 2025 were both in Fidelity colours as the security company is the launch customer. Rynners said Fidelity is “very satisfied” with the vehicles. Drawing on its extensive military experience countering improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and manufacturing military vehicles, Integrated Convoy Protection has also developed blast resistant safes, which are developed specifically for the cash in transit industry to protect against bombings. The safes have undergone several rounds of blast testing by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and have successfully withstood several CIT bombings in operation over the past year and half. The safe range has been expanded and at this year’s Securex ICP launched a new range of Kaboom custom-built safes, which comply to SANAS (South African National Accreditation System). These can be built to customer specifications or on standard specifications and have attracted a lot of interest, especially from security companies and gun shop owners, Rynners said. Also showcased for the security industry at Securex was the REVA Security vehicle, based on the REVA III armoured personnel carrier (APC). Rynners said many have been sold in South Africa, particularly to security companies providing protection services to mining companies. At the show, the vehicle was fitted with a gunshot detection system, rapid response drones, and a command and control centre supplied by local company Risk Diversion, which offers digital forensics and other services. ICP REVA is pushing hard into the growing commercial security vehicle market, and has a 50:50 spread between civil and military sectors. “There has been very good growth in South Africa,” Rynners said. “The local security market has exploded and we are very fortunate to have gotten involved in that.” (Source: https://www.defenceweb.co.za/)
05 Jun 25. Roshel to build ExtremV vehicles in Canada. ExtremV will boost the proficiency of military and emergency units within Canada’s Arctic territories. Canadian armoured vehicle manufacturer Roshel has entered into an exclusive production agreement with ST Engineering for the ExtremV amphibious all-terrain vehicle in Canada. The agreement was signed during CANSEC 2025 defence and security event in Ottawa. ExtremV vehicle is designed for extreme environments and challenging landscapes. It is a prime contender for Canada’s Domestic Arctic Mobility Enhancement (DAME) programme. The ExtremV’s adeptness in navigating snow, ice, and aquatic environments will bolster the proficiency of military and emergency units within Canada’s Arctic territories, said Roshel. ST Engineering has indicated that the ExtremV is part of the Bronco family, akin to the Warthog used by the British Army in Afghanistan. The ExtremV is designed to ensure high payload capacity and agility under severe weather conditions. According to Roshel, it will spearhead production within Canada and plans to collaborate with Indigenous-owned enterprises to reinforce crucial aspects of the programme. With a budget between C$250m ($183m) and C$499m ($364m), this DAME initiative seeks to deliver a versatile vehicle platform comprising four variants: command post, troop carrying, cargo and equipment carrying, and ambulance configurations. Additionally, an appropriate number of trailers will support the operational needs of this new fleet. This enhancement will provide specialised mobility for units addressing Arctic contingencies across all terrains throughout every season. Late in May 2025, Roshel partnered with Omnipol at IDET 2025 in Brno through a significant joint venture agreement to start local production of Roshel’s Senator line of vehicles in the Czech Republic. This deal between Roshel and Omnipol ensures that variants such as mine-resistant ambush protected, armoured personnel carriers, and medical evacuation vehicles from the Senator series will be manufactured domestically. In December 2024, Roshel initiated operations at a new production facility located in Michigan, US. This facility is not only tasked with the manufacture of new vehicles but is also equipped to function as a service centre, providing maintenance for vehicles that are currently in use within the US. 03 Jun 25. New Pandur 8×8 EVO targets Czech army and export customers. A prototype of the Pandur 8×8 EVO armoured vehicle was unveiled at the International Defence and Security Technology Fair (IDET) 2025 held in Brno, Czech Republic, from 28 to 30 May. It was developed by Tatra Defence Vehicle (TDV), part of the Czechoslovak Group (CSG), with partial technical support from General Dynamics European Land Systems-Steyr. Compared to the Pandur II 8×8 CZ in Czech army service, the Pandur 8×8 EVO has a new hull with a completely redesigned lower part and increased ballistic and mine protection. The maximum weight has grown to 25 tonnes and the vehicle is no longer amphibious. The powertrain consists of a Cummins ISL 540 six-cylinder engine with an output of 405 kW at 2,200 rpm that develops a torque of 1,900 N m at 1,400 rpm, and a ZF Ecomat 6 HO 902 S six-speed automatic transmission. The version of the wheeled infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) presented at IDET 2025 was fitted with an Elbit Systems UT30 Mk2 unmanned turret armed with a Mk 44 Bushmaster II 30 mm gun, a 7.62 mm machine gun, and a dual Spike LR/LR2 guided missile launcher. The commander and gunner have identical stabilised optoelectronic sights with automatic target tracking and hunter-killer capability. The UT30 Mk2 turret is equipped with the Iron Fist active protection system and eight 76 mm smoke grenade launchers, with the possibility of an Elbit Laser Warning System (ELAWS). (Source: Janes)
30 May 25. Patria to begin assembly of ASCOD Infantry Fighting Vehicles in Latvia. To mark the fifth anniversary of Patria’s operations in Latvia and the first anniversary of the Defence Partnership Latvia (DPL) armoured vehicle production facility in Valmiera, Patria and GDELS-Santa Barbara Sistemas (GDELS) jointly announce the start of a strategic collaboration The DPL facility in Valmiera will handle the assembly and maintenance of ASCOD Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs), with the first production units expected in June 2026. The ASCOD IFVs will feature NATO-standard Level 4 armour, automatic cannons, anti-tank weapon systems, machine guns, and advanced battlefield technology, providing enhanced situational awareness for troops. Each vehicle will be operated by a three-person crew and can transport and deploy six fully equipped soldiers.
“The assembly and servicing of ASCOD Infantry Fighting Vehicles mark a significant step in the development of our military manufacturing and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in Latvia. Our experience with the production of 6×6 armoured vehicles, combined with the transfer of technology and expertise from Patria, demonstrates our ability to handle complex and precise military vehicle manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance tasks”, says Uģis Romanovs, Chairman of the Board at Patria Latvia and Defence Partnership Latvia.

Accordingly, on 30 January 2025, the Latvian Ministry of Defence signed a contract with GDELS-Santa Bárbara Sistemas for the delivery of 42 ASCOD IFVs for the Latvian National Armed Forces, valued at €373m. The procurement process for these vehicles began in early 2023, involving a comprehensive pre-selection phase to identify potential suppliers. In the autumn of 2023, functional testing of various IFV platforms was conducted to assess their operational capabilities. Following these tests, the National Armed Forces carried out a detailed evaluation, considering operational needs, cost, available equipment, local industry involvement, delivery schedules, and other key factors. The first ASCOD IFVs are expected to be operational by autumn 2026.
