MANAGEMENT ON THE MOVE

28 Mar 03. The UK MoD announced that the Prime Minister had nominated Vice Admiral Sir Peter Spencer KCB, until recently Second Sea Lord, as the next CDP. Sir Peter is retiring from the Royal Navy in order to take over from Sir Robert Walmsley KCB on 1 May 03. CDP is a (four star equivalent) Civil Service appointment, running the Defence Procurement Agency (DPA) which has an annual budget of about £6,000m. Sir Robert was also a Vice Admiral, prior to being appointed CDP in 1996, and he is now to retire from the Civil Service. The appointment of Sir Peter will, doubtless, be welcomed by many in the Defence Industry. (Source: DNA DEFENCE NEWS ANALYSIS Issue 03/14, 31 Mar 03)

28 Mar 03. EADS’ Board of Directors has designated Arnaud Lagardère as Chairman of the Board of Directors. The installation will come into effect with his appointment as director by EADS’s next general assembly due to be held on May 6, 2003.

28 Mar 03. Northrop Grumman Corporation announced the appointment of Barbara L. Barcon as vice president, planning and analysis. Barcon reports to Richard B. Waugh, Jr., corporate vice president and chief financial officer.

1 Apr 03. Alvis Vickers is pleased to announced two key appointments to the Alvis Vickers Board. Mike Maiden joins the company on the 31st March 2003 as Sales and Marketing Director responsible for international markets. Mike joins Alvis Vickers from the Ministry of Defence where his last appointment was as the Middle East Director in the Defence Export Services Organisation. Mike Pope, formerly the Head of Business Development at Alvis Vickers is appointed Business Development Director and will be responsible for the UK market and for support to international campaigns.

01 Apr 03. AMS changes its management with the appointment of Carlo Venturi as Chief Executive Officer and Andrew Walsh as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Their mandate with Alenia Marconi Systems NV (AMS) will last for 3 years. Carlo Venturi has recently been appointed by the Board of Directors of the Italian subsidiary of AMS NV, Alenia Marconi Systems S.p.A., as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Andrew Walsh will be Managing Director of the British subsidiary, Alenia Marconi Systems Limited.

2 Apr 03. Northrop Grumman Corporation’s Electronic Systems sector has appointed F. Suzanne Jenniches vice president and general manager of its newly formed
Government Systems Division. A 29-year veteran of Northrop Grumman, Jenniches had most recently served as vice president of the Communications Systems
business unit for the company.
