An international Aerospace & Defence client of ours is looking to recruit a Lead Safety Engineer to join it’s Edinburgh operations.
The role will involve defining project safety requirements and providing guidance to projects on product safety issues. The successful applicant will also be responsible for reviewing the evidence supporting the safety certification of products including monitoring the hazard tracking system and actively managing the safety risks. If you’re successful in your application you will become the Lead Systems Safety Engineer for products being designed for fixed wing platforms in the military aviation domain, so you we are looking for someone who is fully conversant with standards including DEF-STAN 00-055 and DEF-STAN 00-056.
The role is to provide product safety management support to projects and engineering activities at Edinburgh. This includes reviewing customer requirements; identifying applicable regulations, legislation and standards and defining associated requirements; approving safety management plans; conducting, documenting and managing hazards and risk assessments and mitigation strategies; and developing robust arguments for safety cases.
Key Responsibility Areas
*Definition of Product Safety requirements derived from Customer requirements, Company requirements and emergent properties of the design.
*Provision of technical support to product and other legislative compliance issues, including EMC.
*Engineering representation at project safety forums as required.
*Represent projects at design reviews and product lifecycle phase reviews to provide specialist input.
*Carry out independent safety assessments on products from the supply chain within the project to support reviews where required.
*Sign off Safety Cases.

04 Oct 17. Lacroix strengthens presence in Southeast Asian region with new office. French defence company Lacroix has opened a new office in Kuala Lumpur to strengthen its presence in the Southeast Asian region, the company announced at the Pacific 2017 exhibition in Sydney. The office is operational from October 2017, and represents the company’s strategy to get closer to its customers and partners especially in Southeast Asia, said Jean-Marie Pascal, Lacroix’s deputy export sales director, in an interview with Jane’s .
“We are currently entering a phase to accelerate our international expansion,” said Jean-Marie, noting that the Lacroix already has offices in the United Arab Emirates and South Korea. “A focus of our efforts in the Southeast Asian region will be on countermeasures that can defeat the newer generation of missiles and torpedoes,” he added.
