16 Jul 04. The Boeing Co. will add 2,000 to 3,000 jobs in the Puget Sound area by the end of the year because of previously announced plans to increase airplane production and continue development on new projects. In addition, the company plans to add another 250 to 300 jobs in Wichita, Kan., and 50 to 100 jobs in Portland, Ore., because of the planned increase in airplane production.
08 Jul 04. The Prime Minister named Professor R (Roy) Anderson as the next CSA at the MoD. Professor Anderson, who is currently at Imperial College, London, is expected to succeed Professor Sir Keith O’Nions in October 2004. Sir Keith is to become Director General of the Research Councils. Comment: The CSA, as a member of the Defence Council and as Chairman of the Investments Approvals Board, has a major influence on Defence equipment procurement decisions. The CSA also oversees the activities of the Defence Science Technology Laboratory (DSTL), the Met (Meteorological) Office and the Atomic Weapons Establishments (AWE). The post of CSA is a Grade 1 (Permanent Secretary) position, with a basic annual salary (since 1 Jan 04) in the range from £135,000 to £139,999. 16 Jul 04. Stewart & Stevenson Services, Inc. announced that shareholders elected James M. Tidwell as an independent director and re-elected Max L. Lukens, Stewart & Stevenson’s President and Chief Executive Officer, and Robert Sullivan as members of the class of directors who serve until the 2007 Annual Meeting. Mr. Tidwell fills the board position previously held by Donald E. Stevenson, who did not stand for re-election at the Annual Meeting. The Company also announced that Mr. Stevenson, who served as a director of the Company since 1975, has been appointed Director Emeritus effective July 9, 2004.
09 Jul 04. At the ordinary Board meeting, Jan Nygren and Kenth-Åke Jönsson was appointed new Executive Vice Presidents. At the same time Executive Vice President Ingemar Andersson was appointed deputy CEO for Saab. Jan Nygren and Kenth-Åke Jönsson are today ordinary Group Management members in Saab and will together with Ingemar Andersson have a Line Responsibility for all Saab Business Units, divided between them.
04 Jul 04. Elbit Systems Ltd. announced the appointment of Itzhak Dvir as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Group.Mr. Dvir who previously served as General Manager – Unmanned Airborne Vehicles, Security and Tactical Systems of Elbit Systems, assumed his new position on July 1, 2004.
