01 Jul 15. Elbit Systems Ltd.’s subsidiary, Elbit Systems Land and C4I Ltd. was awarded a contract from the Dutch Ministry of Defense, to supply advanced systems for the infantry soldiers in the Benelux countries – Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg. The contract, valued at approximately US$150m, will be performed over a five-year period. Elbit Systems will serve as the program prime contractor and Thales Netherlands B.V (“Thales”) will be its main sub-contractor. Other local companies will take part in the project, providing support and immediate response to the customer’s needs. The Smart Vest, a cutting-edge technological program, is a co-operation between the soldier modernization programs of the Benelux countries: Netherlands’ VOSS, Belgium’s BEST and Luxemburg’s COMPASS. It is the first strategic joint program of the Benelux countries, and will provide the ground soldiers with a cutting-edge system that will provide enhance survivability and safety while increasing their capabilities and effectiveness in the digital battlefield. The systems will be light-weight, modular and scalable and will interface with existing systems. The Smart Vest program will include wearable and protective systems for the soldier, command and control systems, including advanced audio and data radio systems, specialized displays and C4I capabilities as well as vehicle systems.

30 Jun 15. Netherlands order 12 new Bushmasters. A dozen life-saving Bushmasters are going into production in Bendigo for export to the Netherlands, after the country’s Ministry of Defence ordered new vehicles from Thales in Australia. The vehicles will complement the 86 Bushmasters previously purchased by the Dutch customer between 2006 and 2009, and will be delivered by the middle of 2016. The troop carrier variants will be fitted with additional composite armour, Remote Weapon Stations, and Thales’s market-leading SOTAS intercom system. This contract, whose value remains confidential, follows other Bushmaster exports to Japan and Jamaica over the past 18 months, as well as other SOTAS exports to various countries worldwide.

01 Jul 15. TVS Supply Chain Solutions has won two contracts with the Defence Support Group (DSG) to support the Ministry of Defence (MOD), worth £4.2m. The two new contracts, both won after competitive tenders, will see TVS Supply Chain Solutions provide spare parts for Armoured Fighting Vehicles and DSG Workshop Spares for the next two years, continuing a 15 year involvement in the spares support to the UK MoD’s Heavy Armour Fleet. TVS will provide the MOD with an extensive range of spares for Armoured Fighting Vehicles including Warrior, CVR(T), Challenger II, CRARRV, Stormer and Titan & Trojan; together with supply to the DSG workshops to support assembly, repair, overhaul and upgrade activity. TVS will utilise its procurement and technical expertise to source quality spares at a reduced total cost of supply for the MOD.

30 Jun 15. Saab has signed contracts with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the construction of two new Type A26 submarines and a mid-life upgrade for two Gotland-class submarines. The orders, signed with FMV, cover the period 2015-2024 and the total order value is SEK8.6bn (Now worth approx. $1.04bn). Saab will construct, verify and deliver two new Type A26 submarines for the Swedish Navy to a total order value of SEK7.6bn. Deliveries will start in 2022 and be finalized in 2024. Saab will also conduct a mid-life upgrade on two of Sweden’s existing Gotland-class submarines, including an overhaul and upgrade of the combat
