MANAGEMENT ON THE MOVE

18 Feb 04. The U.K. Junior Defence Minister announced that a new two-star post of Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff (Reserves and Cadets) was being created. Reserve Officers from all three Services will be eligible for consideration for the post, with the first incumbent coming from the Territorial Army. Brigadier The Duke of Westminster KG OBE TD DL is expected to be promoted to Major General in late-March 2004. Comment: The new post “is being created to provide an improved focus for key Reservist issues….”. The Duke of Westminster is currently the Director of Reserve Forces and Cadets at the MoD, a post that will now be held by a Regular Officer who will also act as the Reserve General’s deputy.(Source: DNA DEFENCE NEWS ANALYSIS, Issue 04/09, 23 Feb 04)

26 Feb 04. U.S. Navy Rear Adm. (selectee) John J. Waickwicz is being assigned as commander, Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, San Diego, Calif. Waickwicz is currently serving as commander, Iceland Defense Force, Keflavik, Iceland.

26 Feb 04. U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Thomas E. Zelibor, Jr., is being assigned as director, Global Operations, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. Zelibor is currently serving as deputy for command, control, communications and computers integration and policy, and Department of the Navy deputy communications and information officer, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Arlington, Va.

27 Feb 04. U.S. Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) William D. Crowder is being assigned as commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group Three (Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group), Everett, Wash. Crowder is currently serving as director, Naval Operations Group, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Arlington, Va.

27 Feb 04. U.S. Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) David A. Gove is being assigned as director, Naval Operations Group, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Arlington, Va. Gove is currently serving as deputy director for global operations, J3, Joint Staff, Arlington, Va.
