15 Aug 25. MyDefence establishes new base in the UK. Counter-drone technology provider MyDefence has announced a new base in the United Kingdom as part of its commitment to strengthening United Kingdom–European Union defence ties. “MyDefence systems are fully interoperable with the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and are designed to support the United Kingdom government’s Strategic Defence Review, ensuring British forces receive immediate, field-ready capabilities to address emerging threats,” the company said in a press release. 21 Aug 25. Strategic Marine and Eureka sign MoU for Aircat Bengal MC. The Aircat Bengal MC is designed to meet the needs of naval and maritime security operations. Singapore-based shipbuilder Strategic Marine has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Eureka Naval Craft for the production of Aircat Bengal MC modular attack surface craft. This collaboration unites Eureka’s Surface Effect Ship (SES) design with Strategic Marine’s shipbuilding proficiency. The aim is to create a new category of vessels that are not subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and can serve both defence and civilian purposes. Non-ITAR are exempted from the regulations of the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations, which govern the export and import of defence-related articles and services.
Strategic Marine CEO Chan Eng Yew said: “We are proud to collaborate with Eureka on this groundbreaking project. Our Singapore shipyard is equipped with the latest technology and staffed by a highly experienced team, enabling us to deliver complex vessels quickly and at scale.”
The Aircat Bengal MC, extending 36 metres in length, builds upon the Aircat Crewliner 35 SES. It will be built at Strategic Marine’s advanced Singapore facilities. The vessel is tailored to meet the growing needs of naval forces and maritime security, as well as other sectors. It incorporates Greenroom Robotics’ GAMA maritime autonomy solution, which aligns with the US Navy’s Uncrewed Maritime Autonomy Architecture (UMAA) initiative for uncrewed surface vessels.
Eureka Naval Craft CEO Bo Jardine said: “Our collaboration also demonstrates the value of US-Singapore cooperation in driving innovation, strengthening supply chains, and supporting regional security. We are proud to contribute to the US DoD and US Navy’s vision for a more innovative, autonomous, and collaborative maritime force.”

20 Aug 25. Romanian defence minister confirms plan to acquire Hisar-class corvette. Romanian Minister of National Defence Ionuț Moșteanu confirmed on 15 August that the country’s Ministry of National Defence (MND) is awaiting parliamentary approval to purchase at least one of the Turkish-built Hisar-class offshore patrol vessels (OPVs).
“… next year we will have a new corvette. It is already completed in Türkiye, essentially turnkey, awaiting parliamentary approval in September. We have sent the request, since this is an acquisition of over EUR100m [USD117m],” Moșteanu said.
In September 2023, two Hisar-class OPVs, TCG Akhisar and TCG Koçhisar, were launched at Istanbul Naval Shipyard. Each vessel has a length of 99.56m with a beam of 14.42m, a draught of 3.77m, and a displacement of around 2,300 tonnes. They are based on a modified Turkish National Ship Project (Milli Gemi Projesi: MILGEM) corvette design. To support sustained operations, the ships employ a combined diesel-electric or diesel (CODELOD) propulsion configuration, in which four diesel generators supply power to two electric motors driving a pair of controllable-pitch propellers. This system allows for long-range, fuel-efficient cruising while still enabling a maximum speed of 24 kt. At an economical speed of 12 kt, the vessels can achieve a range of approximately 4,500 nm. Designed for multiple mission profiles, including intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR); search and rescue; counter-terrorism; maritime surveillance; and special operations, the ships are being constructed with a ‘fitted for but not with’ approach, which enables additional weapon and sensor systems to be integrated at a later stage according to operational requirements. 19 Aug 25. Pakistan Navy’s third Hangor-class submarine launched in China. Four of these submarines are being built in China and the remaining four will be built domestically. The third submarine in Pakistan Navy’s Hangor-class series, PNS Mangro (Desig), was launched at Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Company’s Shuangliu Base in Wuhan, China. This event marks a significant step in the agreement between the Government of Pakistan and China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company (CSOC) for the acquisition of eight Hangor-class submarines. 19 Aug 25. Five more S-70i Black Hawks enter Philippine Air Force. This builds on the 32-strong fleet that Lockheed Martin’s Polish subsidiary have been tasked to deliver to the service since 2022. The Philippine Air Force (PAF) have inducted five more S-70i Black Hawk multirole helicopters from Lockheed Martin’s Polish subsidiary PLZ Mielec. This order builds on the 32-strong fleet the company is building for the service since 2022. The PAF’s S-70i Black Hawks are used for a range of military missions and operations across the diverse archipelago – from tactical exercises and humanitarian response, to jungle warfare support, and security operations. In April 2025, the manufacturer recalled that the PAF deployed the S-70i helicopters as part of a joint training exercise through the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing in cooperation with the Philippine Navy aboard the BRP Davao del Sur. In May, the PAF and the US Air Force conducted the joint Cope Thunder Philippines exercise, which involved aircraft from both navies in the air and on land.

20 Aug 25. Terma and Boeing sign MoU to explore P-8 maintenance collaboration in Denmark. The agreement reinforces both companies’ long-term partnership and shared ambition to strengthen Denmark’s national defense capabilities through local MRO solutions for the P-8 aircraft. Terma and Boeing have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at exploring cooperation on Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) support for the P-8 maritime patrol aircraft in Denmark. The announcement was made during a signing ceremony at this year’s DALO Industry Days, underscoring the importance of industrial collaboration in enhancing national defense readiness.
