LUNA TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCE LIGHT EMITTING COATING

May 8, 2003 by

24 Apr 03. Luna Technologies International, Inc. is pleased to announce that after extensive testing and evaluation, LUNA and Noesis, Inc.(LUNA’s distributor to the US Military) have been selected by a Division of the US Military, to develop a highly specialized non-electric High Performance Light emitting coating system (“LUNAcoat(TM)”). The function of this project is to increase nighttime visibility of dangerous military equipment, addressing a particular concern for safety of military personnel. This system is expected to lend itself to a multitude of military applications, as well as, setting new standards for industrial coatings overall.

LUNAplast(TM) 5000 Sun Series has been certified by Canadian Underwriters Laboratories (CUL) to comply with the “Standard for Emergency Lighting and Power Equipment”. This certification now completes the regulatory requirements for the marketing of the 5000 Sun Series EXIT signs, both in the United States and Canada.

LUNA expects the marketplace in Canada to recognize this milestone in photoluminescent technology so as to revolutionize the EXIT sign industry in Canada. It is also anticipated that Canada will follow the lead of the United States, which has recognized that energy efficient EXIT signs are a high priority. Currently in excess of One Billion US dollars is spent yearly on energy consumption to operate existing EXIT signs. The annual EXIT sign business in the USA is in excess of $300m.

Luna anticipates its 5,000 Sun Series-Exit sign to play an important role in the transformation of EXIT signs from conventional to photoluminescent technology. LUNA continues its research and testing on a new method for producing even greater luminescence and architectural acceptance of its current photoluminescent EXIT signs. Results on this process have been encouraging to date and Management anticipates that this new generation of EXIT sign will be met enthusiastically by the architectural profession.
