The Ministry of Defence (MoD), Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S), Commercially Supported Shipping (CSS) team are considering options to optimise the delivery of up to 3 Military Afloat Reach and Sustainability (MARS) Fleet Solid Support (FSS) Sea Going Vessels. These vessels will have the capability to provide the solid sustainment (food, stores and ammunition) required for Maritime Task Groups and Joint Forces.This will allow the UK to achieve full use of the new Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carriers. It is issuing this Prior Information Notice, as well as inviting representation from the Ship Design and Ship Build Industry sectors to engage with MoD DE&S to inform the feasibility of the acquisition options that are currently being considered.

DE&S will issue an Overview Pack to all respondents to this PIN which will set out the Market Engagement process. This Market Engagement process will involve an initial Industry Day with bilateral meetings to be held at a later date with potential prime contractors who have been invited to participate further. (See Overview Pack for further Information.)
