10 May 05. For the first time in its 20-year history, Helitech is introducing a conference to its event programme. Visitors to the 2005 event can find out about the opportunities and pitfalls inherent to one of the hottest business prospects open to commercial helicopter operators in recent times. On Helitech Day One – Tuesday 27 September – a conference will explore the recent successes, the potential for future business and the administration of COMR (civil owned military registered) contracts around the world. An international programme of speakers will analyse how such non-core military tasks such as training, fleet support and base maintenance can be economically contracted out to commercial operators without compromising either the quality of the service or the effectiveness of the end-product. The UK has made particular strides in this field recently, and speakers will explain how contracting such services can work well from every perspective – military purchaser and front-line beneficiary, as well as civil contractor and support agencies such as insurers. In addition, overseas speakers such as the US Coast Guard and Sikorsky will explain how the COMR template can deliver that elusive “win-win” quality to their own business models, as well as in their support of civil customers.

11 May 05. ComDef 2005, 7th September 2005, the 23th conference in the Common Defense series, addresses the issues of “Transformation and the New Realities in Defense Cooperation” relative to transformation, budgets, force structure, operations, equipment, production, modernization, and inter-operability. Conference Co-Chairs are Al Volkman, Director, International Cooperation, OUSD (AT&L) and Jonathan Hoyle, Minister Defense Materiel, British Embassy, Washington DC
