10 Sep 07. GENERAL SIR MICHAEL JACKSON TO OPEN i2 MILITARY ANALYST CONFERENCE
The threats which might affect world security over the next decades will be at the heart of General Sir Michael Jackson’s opening presentation at the i2 Military UserGroup conference on October 23rd 2007.
“It is not just the military threats we expect such as terrorism but the pressure on resources that could affect our security,” the former Chief of the General Staff will say, adding: “Intelligence has a vital role to play in helping us to be prepared both strategically and tactically in handling these situations.”
During his presentation he will identify the critical part that intelligence has played during the second half of the 20th century and the early years of the 21st and will give his view on its role in the future.
Other speakers at the conference will be addressing topics such as the deployment of software on operations, the changing nature of war from conventional to the post Cold War rise in insurgency; and how Al Qaeda and Hezbollah use rough diamonds and the role that intelligence tools played in identifying the trade.
“Accurate intelligence is vital to all operations and effective tools are needed to store, analyse and share this intelligence, to prevent vital information from being misinterpreted or lost,” said Paul Holroyd, general manager of i2.
“The i2 conference aims to identify how software solutions can aid analysts with inter-operability across forces by efficiently enhancing information sharing to combat the asymmetric threat,” he added.
