05 Nov 25. As the Blue Magic Netherlands (BMNL) 2025 event team continues to collect registrations for event attendees, the organizers have announced that two major figures in Dutch and European defence will be keynote speakers for the November 18 event in Eindhoven: Dutch Minister for Arms Procurement and Personnel Gijs Tuinman and General Counsel at NATO-Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) Thomas McSorley.

“Our Blue Magic events have become known for connecting businesses and technology with investors,” said Brad Lunn, Managing Director at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), the lead organizer of BMNL. “We also want our events to deliver important industry information and insights from key European defence leaders, so we’re thrilled to have Gijs Tuinman and Tom McSorley speak at this year’s event.”

This will be Mr. Tuinman’s first appearance at BMNL and Mr. McSorley’s second. In addition, Paul Malcontent from VDL Defentec and Hugo Leyte from ODIN have accepted invitations to speak at BMNL. Blue Magic Netherlands fosters technology ideation and implementation within the Dutch industrial ecosystem. Netherlands-based technology and aerospace companies will pitch their innovative, next-gen solutions that could shape the course of commercial and defence technologies. The event is open for anyone interested in networking with attendees and they are encouraged to register no later than November 10. Registration form and details about the event agenda are located at http://www.ga-asi.com/blue-magic-netherlands-2025. BMNL brings together leaders in advanced technology, aerospace, business, and government in a single Dutch forum to explore emerging technologies that address the world’s most pressing defence and security challenges. Along with partners Brainport Development Eindhoven, Lockheed Martin Ventures, Brabant Development Agency, and the Netherlands Industries for Defence & Security (NIDV), GA-ASI will hear from Dutch businesses as they present capabilities on a broad range of technologies. Participating in this transformational event provides an ideal opportunity to connect with funding sources and collaborate with industry leaders.

06 Nov 25. Blighter (www.blighter.com), a pioneering designer and manufacturer of ground-based electronic-scanning micro-Doppler radars, is targeting further sales of its smart/cognitive border surveillance and coastal security radars in Southeast Asia with its debut appearance at Defense & Security 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. Defense & Security 2025 is the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) biennial defense and security event which is taking place from the 10-13 November 2025 at the IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Centre, Bangkok, Thailand. The event attracts over 25,000 participants from over 40 countries including the regions’ highest-ranking officials from the Army, Navy, and Air Forces as well as Ministries of Defense, Chiefs of Police, Coast Guard, and other government bodies.

James Long, CEO at Blighter, says, “We are continuing to win new overseas border surveillance and coastal security contracts in Asia for our ITAR free radar products. Governments in the region face the growing challenge of securing land and coastal borders from traffickers, pirates, illegal immigration and other security threats. They are looking to Blighter and our field proven near zero maintenance solution that works 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in all weather conditions, including fog.”

Blighter’s non-rotating, solid-state, low SWaP (size, weight and power) electronic scanning radars provide 360-degrees of uninterrupted rapid surveillance over a wide area detecting moving vehicles/vessels, persons (including ‘crawlers’) and near ground aerial threats at ranges of up to 32 km. The radars’ compact and modular design enables rapid deployment on towers and vehicles, and as dismounted portable systems on tripods.

According to Blighter, its most recent contract wins in the region came from a southeast Asian military customer that has installed B400 radars onto army vehicles for rapid deployment to border infiltration hotspots. In addition, over 100 of its radar units have been successfully guarding the 250km Korean Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) for over a decade.

Blighter operates through a network of partners across the region and supports the local assembly of certain products to enable indigenous manufacture. Blighter is represented in Thailand by Defentec Ltd. a subsidiary company of Hollywood International Ltd. Defentec is based in Rajtawee, Bangkok.

“We are looking forward to meeting with partners and prospective customers at Defense & Security to showcase our robust and resilient smart radars and AI-assisted software,” says James Long.

Blighter radars are trusted by the UK Ministry of Defence for forward operating base (FOB) protection, the South Korean Army for border surveillance along the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), by the United States Air Force for drone detection, by Five Eyes/NATO customers for deployment on their mobile surveillance and armoured vehicles, and the UK’s major airports for perimeter protection. Blighter will be in the UK pavilion at Defense & Security 2025 taking place at the IMPACT Exhibition & Convention Centre, Bangkok, Thailand from the 10-13 November 2025.
