RUSI C4ISTAR 2007: Operational Requirements for the Next 5 Years

The Ministry of Defence currently has over 230 Urgent Operational Requirements (UORs) in progress – costing approximately £1.4billion – to meet the needs of frontline forces. Many of these projects are communications or force protection-related, highlighting the vital role that C4ISTAR equipment plays in theatre. With large numbers of troops committed for the mid-term to operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, the importance of effective integration of these new assets and associated investment across all Lines of Development will prove vital to success in these theatres.

The RUSI C4ISTAR conference will once again draw together over 400 senior participants from across the UK Ministry of Defence, coalition partners and supporting industry, as it seeks to tackle the key issues surrounding the integration of C4ISTAR assets and the effective management of network-enabled capabilities to enhance current military operations. In a pro-active and productive forum aimed at developing and improving engagement between stakeholders, the conference will enable the C4ISTAR community to continue delivering key capabilities into theatre and establish a robust capability for years to come.
