Join the ADS Defence Single Source Training Workshop where we will explain what a Qualifying Defence Contract is and how it must be priced, costed and reported. The workshop will set out the risks within the regime and the commercial landscape.
Single source defence contracts for the UK are regulated by law within a Single Source Procurement Framework established by Part 2 of the Defence Reform Act 2014. The law governs how contracts are costed, what profit is allowed, how pricing mechanisms work and gives MOD significant open book access to the contractor’s data. Understanding the rules is therefore vital to ensure a price is valid and will withstand scrutiny.

Workshop leaders:
THE COURSE IS LED BY TIM WATKINS AND JOHN ASHLEY.
Tim is a Chartered Accountant who has 20 years’ experience in senior finance positions within major UK defence companies. Tim was involved in the industry team working with the MOD and Review Board maintaining the Yellow Book arrangements. Tim now acts as an Industry Technical Advisor on Defence Reform Act (DRA) regime and was involved in the development of the DRA with the MOD. He now provides training and advice either directly to companies or to industry through ADS.
John is a Chartered Accountant with substantial experience in both the private and public sectors. He was a key member of the MOD team established to develop the current single source procurement legislation and to engage with industry during ongoing consultation. Before leaving the MOD, John was the SSAT’s single source legislation compliance lead, advising MOD delivery teams and suppliers on the application of the framework and playing a central role in developing and enacting improvements to the regime.

Join the third edition of the Counter Threat Symposium, a joint initiative between the CBRN UK, Counter Explosive Ordnance UK (Counter-EO UK) and the Drone Platform and Counter Drone UK (DPAC UK) Special Interest Groups (SIGs) of ADS. This two and a half day event is taking place at Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre.
This event brings together practitioners including: the humanitarian sector, end users, policy makers, suppliers and buyers from UK and overseas to discuss the latest developments and requirements across the counter-threat domains.
The event is open to the membership of all three SIGs and non-members alike*. As well as receiving updates from across their sector, delegates have the opportunity to represent their company with a table top exhibition stand (subject to availability). There will be a sponsored networking event on the first evening and numerous breakout opportunities throughout the event designed to foster cross-department discussion.

This will run across the two and a half days of the event and will allow delegates to network with key UK manufacturers of the latest Counter EO, CBRN and DPAC products and services. Please see herefor the latest floor plan.

DRONE ENABLE 2023, ICAO’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems Industry Symposium will be held from 5 to 7 December 2023 in Montréal, Canada. The theme of DRONE ENABLE 2023 is “Innovation and infrastructure developments supporting the future of unmanned aviation”.
The symposium will bring together key stakeholders from industry, academia, government and international organizations in the unmanned aviation sector to exchange research, best practices, lessons learned and respective challenges. Attention will be given to ongoing ICAO activities such as unmanned aircraft systems traffic management (UTM), communication, navigation, surveillance (CNS) and spectrum, as well as advanced air mobility (AAM), which need to be addressed collectively in order to facilitate unmanned aircraft integration into the global aviation system.
Most DRONE ENABLE 2023 speakers will be selected based on their submissions in response to this year’s Request for Information (RFI). The deadline for RFI submissions is 19 May 2023.
