12 Sep 23. Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) opens its doors today, Tuesday 12th September. DSEI 2023 will together host more than 1,500 defence and security suppliers – including all the major defence industry players such as: BAE Systems, General Dynamics UK, Lockheed Martin UK, Northrop Grumman, MBDA. The show floor will also be full of innovative SMEs looking to highlight their capabilities and make important business contacts to support their growth.
The overarching theme of this edition of DSEI is ‘Achieving an Integrated Force”, building strongly on DSEI 2021’s focus on Multi-Domain Integration. Against the backdrop of the UK Ministry of Defence’s Integrated Review and Defence Command Paper Refreshes, efficient inter-force collaboration and what this means for current and future platforms is now at the forefront of this year’s DSEI topics. Modern day challenges are becoming more complex requiring ever more holistic solutions, and DSEI will serve as a forum for discussions on integrated solutions.
It is expected – subject to weather conditions – that the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, will formally open DSEI with their signature aircraft flypast at 12:10.
DSEI will also host 36 international country pavilions, including first-timer North Macedonia. Estonia have expanded their pavilion by three times and the North American pavilion has doubled in size.
This year’s DSEI themed zones include Aerospace, Land, Naval, Security, and Joint, with all of the UK’s Armed Forces featuring capability stands across the exhibition floor.
DSEI 2023 also sees the return of the Space Hub highlighting the growing importance of the space sector exemplified with UK Space Command’s presence having tripled in size.
Other hubs will also include Manufacturing, which will highlight the latest industrial developments, and Medical, which will exhibit the latest advances in the field. DSEI will be a perfect opportunity for industry to connect with government and each other.
DSEI Director Grant Burgham said, “We are delighted that DSEI is now under way and we look forward to welcoming visitors, exhibitors, government representatives and international delegations from around the world. Testament to the importance of DSEI the UK Government is fully embracing the opportunity to engage with the international defence community and this year’s DSEI will also feature the largest and most significant presence from MOD, UK Strategic Command, UK Space Command, UKDSE, the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, the British Army, Defence Equipment and Support, the UK MOD Science and Innovation (DSTL, DASA, DIU & Ploughshare) as well as Defence Medical Services.
Visitors can expect outstanding displays of military capability, including representation from the Global Combat Air Programme, a host of warships from the UK and visiting nations, and land vehicles and aircraft from the highest calibre of exhibitors. DSEI will see strong representation from non-traditional defence companies such as Sony, IBM and Panasonic which is a positive growth area for the event.”
11 Sep 23. DVD 2024 announced. With a legacy spanning more than two-decades, biennial Defence industry exhibition, DVD, is THE EVENT for Defence industry, DE&S Delivery Teams, Army HQ and Defence community users of Land Equipment. Staged at UTAC Millbrook since 2003, DVD is a two-day event, jointly sponsored by Defence Equipment & Support (Land Equipment) and Army Headquarters – the MOD teams responsible for equipping and supporting the UK’s Armed Forces for current and future operations.
The exhibition provides an effective and efficient forum for all those involved in the Land Equipment sector, to develop ideas and generate a greater understanding of technologies, capabilities and requirements. Deliberately scheduled in the years between the biennial DSEI show, DVD remains an essential event in the Defence diary, enabling coordinated engagement through informal discussion, briefings, demonstrations and live displays. Stakeholders from across the MOD are invited to attend, to broaden perspectives and encourage innovation.
DVD2024 will showcase the development and delivery of world class capabilities across the spectrum of Land Equipment, reflecting current procurement and upgrade programmes and future capability requirements.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of equipment on display, from both industry and the military, including everything from specialist vehicles to the equipment and services necessary to support land-based military operations.
Major General Darren Crook, Director Land Equipment, DE&S explains: “As advancements in science, technology, and digitisation continue to influence the British Army’s major equipment programmes, I’m excited to join industry peers to discuss ‘what’s next’ in land operations and capabilities at DVD2024.
“The relationships we have with our stakeholders are fundamental to our ability to make a positive impact to programme delivery. DVD2024 offers a valuable opportunity to enhance our shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities currently faced in the Land Equipment industry, and continue building future engagement and collaboration.”
Exhibiting at DVD 2024
Industry exhibitors are encouraged to share their experience and innovative ideas. They can do this through demonstration of equipment and/or services, engagement with MOD staff and contributing to workshops. By doing so we can mutually develop solutions to meet existing and future Land capability requirements.
Applications to exhibit at DVD2024 are now being taken.
There are two distinct areas where applicants will be able to exhibit their products or services:
- Indoor shell scheme or space only stand within a carpeted venue
- Outdoor exhibition space where you will be able display both your larger static displays and static or demonstration vehicles
