29 Jun 21. Virtual RobotX (VRX) Competition 2022. In preparation for the 2022 maritime RobotX Challenge in Australia, RoboNation and the US Navy’s Office of Naval research (ONR) have partnered with the Naval Postgraduate School and Open Robotics to bring you Virtual RobotX (VRX) and the VRX Competition.
VRX is an open-source simulation environment designed as a free tool for students to test autonomous maritime robotics solutions. In the VRX Competition, robotics teams from around the world will operate their vehicle in a Gazebo-based simulation environment built by OR and the NPS. Students will have the chance to use VRX to develop innovative solutions for an autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) that can beat the challenge tasks in the simulated environment.
You don’t have to compete in the related, physical Maritime RobotX Challenge in order to take part in the VRX Competition. The VRX Competition is designed as an affordable entry point for teams interested in building maritime autonomy skills, learning more about virtual environments as a tool, considering entering the RobotX competition, or all of the above. 29 June 21. 2021 Defence Human Sciences Symposium (DHSS) – call for abstracts. DST Group and Victoria University have called for abstracts for the DHSS in 2022. Academia, industry and Defence are invited to submit abstracts for the Defence Human Sciences Symposium 2021 (DHSS), the principal Australian forum for those interested in the application of human sciences to enhance Defence capability.
DHSS 2021 will be co-hosted by Victoria University and DST Group and will be held at Victoria University’s Melbourne CBD Campus, 29 November-1 December.
Human performance research is necessary to ensure the ADF is able to meet the challenges of the future operating environment. DST Group has already established HPRNet to focus research efforts in this area across academia. DHSS 2021 will provide a forum for delegates to showcase human performance research that has the potential to contribute to Defence outcomes.
Submissions close on 22 August.
