EXHIBITIONS AND CONFERENCES

August 27, 2020 by

26 Aug 20. Close Combat Symposium 2020 (CC20) Update. Symposia At Shrivenham announced an update on the formal public announcement with regards to CC20.

Thank you for showing your interest in the Close Combat 20 event over 20-22 October. We are sorry to confirm that the postponed 2020 Close Combat symposium and range day over 20-22 October has been cancelled due to the ongoing issue of Coronavirus. This decision is by mutual agreement of our sponsors, HQ Army and ourselves.   Instead we will focus our collective efforts on next year’s event over 29 June – 1 July 2021. The format will follow previous years being a combination of MOD and police briefings, industry and academic presentations, and a live-firing range day at COTEC.

However, in addition we are working with partners to hold a free virtual event in the Nov-Jan Period. As soon as the details are confirmed we will publish dates and further information on our website. The likely format for the virtual event is a number of pre-recorded 8-10 minute presentations accessible online via the Symposia at Shrivenham encrypted website. These will be available over a 3 day period, followed on the 4th day by a live 90 minute focused Q&A session. This will be largely pre-organised allowing participants to ask focused questions by theme. If you would like to submit a presentation, or would like to suggest a theme or question, please register for the virtual online event via the CCONLINE button on our website.

As previously announced, any registration for the cancelled 2020 event can be rolled over to the 2021 symposium, fixed at 2020 prices. We will do this automatically for anyone who has not contacted us. However, if you would instead prefer to cancel your registration and wish for a full refund of any payment please contact Leanne or info@symposiaatshrivenham.com

26 Aug 20. The ‘International Symposium on Risk Assessment – facilitated online 18-19 November 2020.

Format: Virtual symposium.

This year the symposium is going digital. Over two days on the 18th and 19th November 2020 Cranfield University Environmental Science Group will host a wholly on-line virtual symposium. Keynote speakers invited from industry and academia will present live, with a virtual ‘face-to-face’ or text based facility for questions. Multiple ‘breakout sessions’ will be held themed around specific industry sectors such as defence, or risk assessment themes such as safety and environment. Delegates will have the freedom to choose which sessions to join out of three or four concurrent themed sessions with the ability to speak face to face or via text based functions. The breakout sessions will be diverse and may include panel discussions, presentations or open discussion sessions. There will also be opportunities for networking during virtual ‘coffee-break’ sessions, as well as additional resources hosted on an on-line forum.

If you are interested in presenting or submitting a poster based on the theme of methods and approaches to decision making in risk assessment.

As the symposium is moving online, the joining fee is reduced to £125, with concessions for Students and Cranfield alumni.

Partnership with Heliyon

The ‘International Symposium on Risk Assessment Approaches for Decision Making’ symposium has partnered with the Heliyon mega-journal to enable post-symposium publication of proceedings, comprising 15-20 articles around the theme of methods and approaches to decision making in risk assessment. Submissions will be chosen from across themes and topics presented at the symposium, from industry to academia. To be invited to submit an article, please submit an abstract to present at the symposium.

We would like to invite the submission of abstracts of 250 words for twenty minute presentations or posters by September 30th.
