06 Apr 20. Close Combat 2020, scheduled to take place over 7-9 July, is now postponed. This decision was taken following input from HQ Army, ITDU and Defence Academy HQ. This is a disappointment, particularly in the light of the support given so far. However, in the circumstances, it was the sensible and timely decision to take. The new dates are 20-22 October, assuming of course that the situation has improved sufficiently to both plan and hold the event.
Given the relatively short period of delay, we would like to roll all bookings forward to the new dates rather than refund and then ask people to re-book. We will do this automatically for all delegates, contributors, exhibitors and sponsors that we have for the 7-9 July dates. If you would rather not do this and would prefer a full refund please contact who will happily make the necessary arrangements.
Finally, we would like to offer our thanks for all the support provided so far, and also our further thanks for your understanding over the uncertainty surrounding the event in recent days.
03 Apr 20. Czech Army cancels Bahna 2020 event. The Czech Army has cancelled the 31st Bahna event, which was scheduled to take place on 20 June at Brdy Military Area. The decision was announced in a release by Lt Col Vlastimila Cyprisová, who reported that the ongoing coronavirus outbreak and the national emergency declared by the Czech government were the reasons behind the cancellation. Brigadier General Ladislav Jung, Ground Forces commander in the Army of the Czech Republic, said: ‘This event will not do without hundreds of members of ground forces [and] military equipment… who are carrying out tasks related to the protection of national borders of the Czech Republic, ensuring the distribution of vital material or contributing to securing smart quarantine.’ The first Open Day of the ACR Ground Forces, scheduled for 30 May in Prostějov, is also cancelled.
