20 Mar 20. Farnborough International Airshow 2020 cancelled due to coronavirus outbreak. The Farnborough International Board of Directors has announced the cancellation of the Farnborough International Airshow 2020 which was due to take place from July 20-24.

A statement on behalf of the board read: “After very careful consideration, the unprecedented impact of the global Coronavirus pandemic has forced this decision in the interests of the health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors, contractors and staff.”

“This decision was reached taking into consideration several major factors surrounding the outbreak of COVID-19, all of which we have concluded, make it is impossible for us to create and host the Airshow this July.”

FIA 2022 will be “better than ever”

The statement added: “We understand this news will be an incredible disappointment to all across the international aerospace industry, not to mention our important exhibitors, suppliers and visitors. We at Farnborough International share your disappointment that we are unable to present the Airshow as planned, but rest assured, we are determined to continue to work together and will ensure the Farnborough International Airshow returns in 2022 better than ever.”

Staff working on updates during unprecedented market conditions

The Airshow team will be speaking to affected stakeholders on an individual basis but, as a small team, patience is requested while event staff navigate the unprecedented market conditions caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

Exhibitors and official suppliers to the event have already been contacted by the organisers via email and should refer to the guidance in the first instance. They can also contact their account manager if they require.

18 Mar 20. It is with great regret that we announce that the Commercial Vehicle Show 2020 has been cancelled. In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic together with guidance issued by the government on Monday evening (16 March) that all mass gatherings are to be avoided, it is clear that the only realistic options for this year’s Show were cancellation or postponing to a later date.

The option of postponing was given careful consideration given the importance of the Show to the road transport sector; however, it was felt there were too many unknown variables to make this option possible. As ever, our priority is to ensure the health and safety of all those involved with the Show.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our exhibitors, registered visitors, Show team and other stakeholders for their continued support during this most challenging and unprecedented of times.

18 Mar 20. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and look forward to greeting you, and your colleagues at the conference this September, in London. 18 Mar 20. IT²EC 2020 postponed. The UK and other global Governments have this week considerably strengthened their advice in relation to the current Coronavirus outbreak, and are now recommending that businesses and individuals take steps to reduce all forms of social contact as much as possible in the coming few months. In line with these recommendations, and in order to prioritise the health and wellbeing of our attendees and exhibitors, we can confirm that this year’s edition of IT²EC will be postponed.

What’s next?

We are currently in ongoing dialogue with our venue partners and other key stakeholders to identify an alternative timeline later this year in which the event can safely take place in a manner which meets the needs and expectations of all of our participants.

We expect to be in a position to share these plans with the IT²EC community in the next few days. At this point, we will be able to advise on the status of existing bookings from exhibitors and attendees and outline the options available.

We want to assure you that our priority at all times remains your safety and wellbeing. Thank you for your understanding and ongoing patience during this evolving situation.

18 Mar 20. ILA 2020 cancelled. ILA Berlin 2020 will not be taking place. This was agreed upon by the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI), the organisers of the ILA, and Messe Berlin GmbH following an extraordinary meeting of the supervisory board of Messe Berlin GmbH. The ILA had been scheduled to take place from 13 to 17 May 2020 at Berlin ExpoCenter Airport.

Due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, on 12 March 2020 the head administrator of the district of Dahme-Spreewald – the authority responsible for enacting protective measures to prevent the spread of contagious diseases – issued a general order and instructed its immediate implementation. It states that ”events with an anticipated attendance of at least 1,000 persons are forbidden in the administrative district of Dahme-Spreewald.“ The order is not time-limited and will remain in force until further notice. Explaining their decision, the authorities noted the assessments made by the Robert Koch Institute and the relevant public health authorities, following which an imposition of minor restrictions would be unable to prevent the spread of the coronavirus at large events of this kind. They also noted that it would be virtually impossible to trace the previous movements of those who made contact with the virus.

BDLI Chief Executive Volker Thum: ”For us it is clear that we take responsibility for the exhibitors, partners and visitors at ILA 2020. We would like to expressly thank everyone whose commitment over the past few months helped to prepare for the ILA. Our high-tech industry is of strategic importance to the country. This crisis is a severe blow. Now, more than ever, we must stand shoulder to shoulder with policymakers and all our stakeholders.“

Dr. Christian Göke, Chief Executive Officer of Messe Berlin GmbH: ”It is with a heavy heart that we must now announce the cancellation of ILA Berlin 2020. For weeks Messe Berlin has made it known that a decision on holding or cancelling large-scale events can at present only be based on the recommendations or instructions of the relevant specialist authorities. Only they possess the necessary information and specialist knowledge in order to draw the right conclusions. We take our responsibility for the health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors and employees very seriously.”

Over 1,100 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and around 180,000 trade visitors and members of the general public attended ILA 2018.

16 Mar 20. AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2020 Postponed. The AUVSI has issued a statement saying that its Board of Directors has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2020. This decision was based on currently available information, and with the best interests of its members, exhibitors, attendees and the global community in mind. Recognizing the importance of this event to your organizations, our ecosystem, and partners in Boston, we are working on shifting the dates of XPONTENTIAL 2020 to a more suitable timeframe and have tentatively identified the dates of August 10-12 for the 2020 event.

We are currently working closely with our convention venue and hotel partners in Boston to identify and secure the required amount and types of function space and requisite number of hotel rooms in the City of Boston to successfully conduct AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2020.

Please be advised however, that AUVSI’s current plans to conduct XPONENTIAL 2020 this August may change, given how rapidly the COVID-19 situation is evolving and whether further measures will need to be instituted to stem the spread of COVID-19, since your health, well-being and safety are our top priority. We will continue to actively assess all potential opportunities to best serve the needs of our community while delivering the world-class event you have come to expect from AUVSI. We will provide updates on our progress as additional information becomes available.

In the interim, we have set up a special email address XPO20updates@auvsi.org for inquiries and will be working to address your questions and concerns as quickly and accurately as possible.
