31 Jan 20. For the past three years, CyberSat has been the leading satellite security event bringing together the government, satellite, aerospace, and cyber industries. Building on the success of the east coast event, and in response to the growing need to have constant, highly focused conversations about cyber security, CyberSat will be hosting two satellite security events in 2020 – CyberSatCom, focused on cybersecurity threats to small satellites and emerging technologies, and CyberSatGov, dedicated to serve the government and military market.
CyberSatCom will take place May 13 – 15 at the Hyatt Regency LAX in Los Angeles and takes a laser-focused view on cyber threats and security of the growing small satellite and LEO markets. As new constellations come online, cyber criminals are increasingly setting their sights on satellites with the intent to disrupt mission critical communications and affect large groups of people. The need for CyberSatCom and the environment to foster these cyber security discussions becomes even more important than ever.
“We are very excited to expand CyberSat to the west coast,” said Mark Holmes, Chair of both CyberSat events and Editorial Director of Via Satellite. “CyberSatCom in Los Angeles in May and CyberSatGov in Reston, VA in October will create the comprehensive environment our audience has been asking for to discuss a range of cyber threats to satellite technology. This community has trusted us for three years to put together a program and networking event they can’t get anywhere else, and we’re ready to take our expertise to the west coast. ”
Topics to be discussed at CyberSatCom:
- 5G and Space: Two Worlds Collide
- Academia: Project Future Space
- Commercial VS Government: Who Leads the Way?
- How NewSpace Companies are Protecting SmallSat Investments
- NewSpace Viewpoint on Cybersecurity and Space
- Protecting the Supply Chain for Satellites and Their Networks
- Quantum Satellites: Coming to an Orbit Near You
- Software Defined Satellites: The Cyber Threat Increases
- Space CISO Perspective
- Space Sustainability as We Move Towards New Economies
- The Threat Landscape for LEO Satellite Networks
Registration is open for both CyberSatCom and CyberSatGov with a special discount of 25% off when you register for both events. Members of the press are encouraged to sign up to attend at no-cost. For more information, please visit: https://www.cybersatsummit.com/event/commercial.
CyberSatCom will be held May 13-15 at the Hyatt Regency LAX located at 6225 W Century Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045. CyberSatGov will be held October 6-8 at the Hyatt Regency Reston located at 1800 Presidents St, Reston, VA 20190.

The event will bring together key stakeholders across military, government and industry to explore ways to build a collaborative approach to space management and Space Situational Awareness (SSA).
This year, the conference aims to explore the growing emphasis on how we track and manage assets and debris mitigation efforts to protect the domain for future.
The two-day event features 7 presentations dedicated to space debris:
- UKSA lines of effort Within SSA
Ms Emily Mills, Domestic Space Surveillance and Tracking Lead, UK Space Agency
- Fraunhofer FHR’s contribution to German SSA
Mr Youngkyu Kim, Spokesman of the Business Unit Space, Fraunhofer Institute
- Enhancing Space Security Through effective SSA
Professor Serge Plattard, Deputy Director, Space Domain, University College London
- CREAM – ESA’s proposal for collision Risk avoidance and Mitigation
Mr Tim Flohrer, Space Debris Analyst, Co-Lead Space Surveillance and Tracking Segment, Space Situational Awareness Programme, ESA
- Italian SST and STM lines of effort
Lieutenant Colonel Walter Villadei, Chief, SSA and SST, Italian Air Force
- The EU’s SST Consortium Framework
Mr Pascal Faucher, Chair, SST, CNES
