18 Dec 18. CMS Strategic has been appointed by Clarion Events Defence and Security to deliver the PR campaign for DSEI Japan. The event is organised by Clarion Events in partnership with Crisis Intelligence Japan, which organises Japanese industrial and military participation in many leading international defence exhibitions and works in close co-operation with the Japanese Ministry of Defense (“JMOD”) to support Japanese industry in their export efforts.
DSEI Japan will take place for the first time at Makuhari Messe from November 18-20, 2019. The exhibition and associated conferences will run biennially and cover all four domains of Land, Naval, Aviation and Security. The Asia-Pacific region’s defence industry has undergone a dramatic transformation over the last decade, driven by a complex security environment and overlapping territorial claims in the East and South China seas. Japan has emerged as a critical actor in the region, ramping up production of world-class defence equipment, growing its global exports and leading the shift toward self-sufficiency. This trend is only set to continue, with the county’s defence market – estimated to be worth $44bn in 2017[1] – expected to expand by about 40 percent by 2020[2].
With the Asia Pacific poised to make a larger dent in world export markets over the coming decade[3], DSEI Japan will bring the global defence and security sector together with the entire Japanese defence community to innovate, partner and share knowledge, bringing together companies from across the industry on an unrivalled scale. It will be the first fully integrated defence event to be held in Japan.
Alex Soar, Event Director for DSEI Japan, said: “Following the soaring success of DSEI over the last 20 years, we are immensely proud to launch another DSEI-branded event outside of the UK. As Japan has become a major defence player in Asia Pacific and is set to expand its defence market worldwide, DSEI Japan will be a pivotal opportunity for the global defence industry to meet the Japanese defence community, support the sourcing of the latest equipment and systems, develop international relationships and generate new business opportunities. The event will be the most important defence event ever to take place in Japan, hosting over 250 exhibitors from over 20 global and regional countries.”
CMS Strategic will support the event with a comprehensive PR campaign, including on-site media management and exhibitor engagement. CMS’s PR programme covers TV, radio, newspapers, trade magazines and online media around the world.
