May 30, 2014 by

26 May 14. IDEX LLC (An ADNEC Group Company) announced a sponsorship agreement with Harris International Inc. for the upcoming IDEX 2015. The deal was signed late last week as the two companies took part in the Special Operations Forces Exhibition & Conference (SOFEX), in Amman, Jordan. The sponsorship endorses the fact that the UAE is among the most active global participants in the defence and security industry and IDEX attracts the global community to Abu Dhabi.
“For over twenty years, IDEX has been locked in a pursuit of global excellence. Our partnership with Harris only further enhances our offering to provide a global defence event to all exhibitors and visitors”, said IDEX CEO, Saleh Al Marzooqi. “We’re the largest defence exhibition in the MENA region, and together with Harris we’ll create an optimum business environment for solutions providers across the land, air and naval defence sectors.”
“IDEX provides Harris with valuable opportunities to interact with customers from the Middle East and around the world,” said Steve Marschilok, regional managing director for Harris in Abu Dhabi. “We look forward to showcasing our leading portfolio of tactical and public safety communications solutions during this exciting event.”
IDEX is the MENA region’s largest (133,000² of event space) and most well-attended joint defence industry event. It is a truly international event attracting over 1100 exhibitors from over 50 countries and features over 35 country pavilions. Over 90 per cent of available exhibition space has been reserved by exhibitors for IDEX 2015 which will take place on February 22nd – 26th and provide unparalleled access to the innovative and cutting edge technology that is defining the modern defence industry.

25 May 14. ILA 2014 covered all aspects of the aerospace industry and was a major attraction for the public. From 20 to 25 May 1,203 exhibitors from 40 countries displayed the industry’s entire range of current high-tech products and research and development projects. Exhibitor numbers were the second-highest in the 105-year history of the ILA. Some 227,000 trade visitors and members of the public flocked to the 250,000 square-metre venue, Berlin Expo Center Airport. At 120,000 the number of trade visitors remained at a high level and stable. ILA 2014 was opened by Germany’s Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and Lütfi Elvan, the Minister of Transport of Turkey, this year’s partner country. A number of members of the German cabinet also attended the ILA: the Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economics and Energy, Sigmar Gabriel, the Federal Minister of Defence, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Alexander Dobrindt. High-ranking delegations from Germany and from all over the world also attended the ILA. One of the main highlights was the Space Pavilion, which provided trade visitors and the public with graphic illustrations of the benefits that space research provides for mankind. In the presence of Federal Chancellor Merkel, representatives of the European Space Agency (ESA) and Airbus Defence and Space signed the initial contracts that usher in the next development phase for the impending series of MetOp weather satellites. As the largest individual exhibitor at ILA 2014 the German armed forces (Bundeswehr) presented their capabilities with a wide-ranging display of products and services. Senior buyers made advance bookings for over 1,000 meetings with customers at the International Suppliers Center (ISC), which proved an effective marketing platform for the entire supply industry. Several thousand experts attended more than 60 conferences where, over the course of the ILA they exchanged information on the latest developments in the aerospace industry. Individual segments and topics such as UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) and ‘eco-efficient flight’ met with keen interest. Some 3,800 accredited members of the media from 55 countries covered ILA
