EXHIBITIONS AND CONFERENCES

May 24, 2013 by

20 May 13. The Association of the United States Army’s Institute of Land Warfare (AUSA ILW), with participation from the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and the U.S. Army Mission Command Center of Excellence, presents the 2013 AUSA ILW Mission Command Symposium, to be held 18-19 June 2013 at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown, Kansas City, Missouri. In support of the Joint Force and in acknowledgement of the complex nature of 21st century warfare, the Army’s doctrine of unified land operations is guided by mission command—the commander-centric conduct of military operations based on disciplined initiative, trust, intent, and understanding among all echelons. To operationalize mission command for use by the force, the Army is heavily investing in the network, also known as LandWarNet, to be the core of a smaller but more capable Army. This symposium will address a variety of significant topics which will be of great interest to industry, academia, the joint and international communities as well as the U.S. military. Topics include mission command enablers and how to operationalize mission command; how Army educational institutions can adapt and teach mission command; how mission command training is being conducted; and, last but certainly not least, how technological advancements in the network have not only directly enhanced other warfighting functions but in essence have the effect of making the network a weapon as well. Senior leaders from the international community, U.S. Department of Defense and industry will discuss this critical subject through a series of panels and presentations. AUSA leadership has announced there is no charge for U.S. military personnel or government civilians to attend the professional development sessions at the Mission Command Symposium.
