The Boeing Co., Huntsville, Alabama, is being awarded a $265,235,164 contract modification (P00033) to the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) development and sustainment contract (HQ0147-12-C-0004/19-C-0004). The total value of the contract, including options, is increased from $10,944,499,963 to $11,209,735,127. Under this modification, the contractor will support the GMD Communications Network Modernization, the in-flight interceptor communications system data terminals technology upgrade, and complete the GMD fire control communication ground systems software build 8 early integration. This work will be performed by an industry team consisting of The Boeing Co., Huntsville, Alabama; Northrop Grumman Corp., Huntsville, Alabama; and L3Harris Corp., Melbourne, Florida. 01 Jan 20. Elbit Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ and TASE: ESLT) (“Elbit Systems”) announced today that it was awarded a contract by the Production and Procurement Directorate of the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMOD) valued at approximately $144m (approximately NIS 500m) for the supply of small caliber ammunition to the Israeli Defense Forces. This five-year contract, work on which will commence in 2021, will be a continuation of the existing multi-year contract with the IMOD.
30 Dec 19. Hanwha Defense awarded contract for additional K55A1 SPHs for RoKA. South Korean company Hanwha Defense announced on 30 December that it has been awarded a KRW137.4bn (USD119m) contract for the production of the fifth batch of K55A1155mm tracked self-propelled howitzers (SPHs) for the Republic of Korea Army (RoKA). The company stated that the contract, which was signed with South Korea’s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), is expected to be completed by 30 October 2022, according to local media. 30 Dec 19. The Brazilian Navy is acquiring a Boeing Insitu ScanEagle long-endurance unmanned aerial system (UAS) through the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme, with a letter of offer and acceptance (LOA) signed with the US government on 11 December, the navy’s told Jane’s on 20 December. The system is scheduled to be delivered in 2020, the navy added. The package for Brazil comprises six unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), one pneumatic rail launcher, one recovery system, two mobile ground-control stations, one flight-training system, and one image-debriefing system.
