MTB UK, Manchester, has been awarded a £65m contract by the UK MoD DE&S Operational Support Vehicle programme (OSVP) to convert 382 MAN 15-tonne trucks to Enhanced Palletised Load System (EPLS). 07 Aug 18. SitaWare Frontline to take on new role with Lithuanian Land Forces. The integration on the ‘Vilkas’ platforms sees Frontline equipping yet another advanced armoured vehicle. Systematic’s SitaWare Frontline command-and-control (C2) solution will be rolled out across the Lithuanian Land Forces’ fleet of future armoured vehicles. Lithuania is the first customer to order an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) variant of the Boxer and SitaWare Frontline will feature on all of the Land Forces’ platforms – designated Vilkas (‘Wolf’) in Lithuanian service. Its fleet will operate in four different configurations: squad, platoon, company commander, and command post.

06 Aug 18. The U.S. Army awarded Dynetics, Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and its partners a $10m contract to continue development for the next phase of the High Energy Laser Tactical Vehicle Demonstrator (HEL TVD) program, a 100-kilowatt class laser weapon system. Laser weapons are ideally suited to address high volume, low cost threats because of their inexpensive cost per shot and deep magazine. Team Dynetics HEL TVD system incorporates highly reliable subsystems to withstand the expected rugged operation conditions. The team recently completed a System Requirements Review and technical baseline update. The next step in the program will be the preliminary design review in January 2019.
03 Aug 18. General Dynamics Land Systems, Sterling Heights, Michigan, has been awarded a $10,330,619 firm-fixed-price contract for heads-up display units. This is a one-year contract with one one-year option that is being exercised at time of award. This was a sole source acquisition using justification 10 U.S. Code 2304(c)(1), as stated in Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1. Locations of performance are Michigan and Florida, with a May 31, 2021, performance completion date. Using military service is Army. Type of appropriation is fiscal 2018 defense working capital funds. The contracting activity is the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime, Warren, Michigan (SPRDL1-18-C-0330).
29 Aug 18. QinetiQ North America (QNA) has received a $11.65m contract from the US Department of Defense for the US Army’s Route Clearance and Interrogation Systems (RCIS) Type 1 robotics programme, the company announced on 24 August. The US Army’s RCIS Type I programme involves automation of the High Mobility Engineering Excavator platform, providing the army with the option to remotely operate the legacy HMEE Type I as a UGV from an operator control unit inside a Mine Protected Clearance Vehicle. This capability will enable soldiers to interrogate, classify and excavate deep-buried explosive hazards and improvised explosive devices, while keeping personnel, vehicles and equipment clear from the explosive hazards blast zone. 07 Aug 18. RADA Electronic Industries Ltd. A leader in the development, production and sale of tactical land radar for force and border protection – announced the receipt of $4m in radar orders in the second quarter. The orders were for RADA’s software-defined radars which will be used in today’s most advanced defense applications. These include active protection systems (APS) for armored vehicles, counter rocket artillery and mortar (C-RAM), counter UAV and short range air defense (SHORAD). A third of these orders were follow-on-sales from existing customers and the remainder was from new and highly strategic customers. These new customers are leading defense organizations and represent initial sales from which RADA expects further follow-on orders in the future.
17 Aug 18. Rheinmetall wins contract worth over €2bn: Australia orders 211 Boxer wheeled armoured vehicles. Australia has awarded Rheinmetall an order for 211 Boxer wheeled armoured vehicles worth a total of €2.1bn (AUD3.3bn). The contract was signed at Parliament House in Canberra today by the Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull and the Managing Director of Rheinmetall Defence Australia Gary Stewart. Delivery of the advanced 8×8 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRV) will take place between 2019 and 2026.
