28 Aug 17. Bagira has won the Netherlands Ministry of Defence’s Joint Fires Training Exercise and System (JFTES) tender, and has been selected for the supply of JOBSS to the Royal Netherlands Army. JOBSS was developed by Bagira as a comprehensive simulator for all the Joint-fires processes. JOBSS has been deployed and used by the Israeli Defence forces (IDF) troops since 2016, and was recently procured by two additional international customers. For this new contract, Bagira will adapt JOBSS to the customer’s doctrine and CONOPS through a formal NATO accreditation process, and will provide a variety of simulator configurations from individual education and training up to a Joint Fires Support Team tactical training, using high resolution dome displays and highly realistic simulated equipment. The new systems are to be installed at a number of training bases around the country. Additionally some transportable systems will be provided to enable training of procedures during exercises and missions. Bagira is also contracted to sustain and support the simulators on-site over a period of at least ten years.
25 Aug 17. Kongsberg to Deliver ICS to Finnish Defence Forces’ K9 Artillery. Kongsberg Defence Systems (KONGSBERG) has entered into a contract with Hanwha Land Systems to deliver Integrated Combat Solution (ICS) to Finland’s new artillery. Finland has decided to acquire K9 Thunder 155mm self-propelled howitzers from South Korea where KONGSBERG’s ICS will be installed. ICS is a modern vehicle electronic digital system based on open standards for connectivity, integration of sensors, weapons, communication networks and security systems for the next generation military vehicles. Patria has received a contract to deliver a series of Compact Airborne Networking Data Link (CANDL) terminals and high power amplifiers to Airbus Defence and Space, the company announced on 29 August. CANDL provides a single data link solution for communications requiring high reliability and networking of several assets, such as UAS. It provides 8Mbps data rate with additional safety features for command and control, dynamic networking communication, motion video and digital voice capability all integrated in one software-defined radio-based, compact, airworthy terminal. CANDL enables long range line-of-sight, air-to-air, and air-to-ground networking and relay for beyond line-of-sight capability. The terminals’ operating frequency range covers feasible bands for both military and civil UAS applications. 30 Aug 17. Deltamarin to join RMC design team for Finnish Navy’s Squadron 2020 project. Deltamarin has signed new contracts with Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) to become a part of the design team for the Finnish Navy’s €1.2bn Squadron 2020 project. The deal will see Deltamarin provide the basic design for the vessels’ deck outfitting and machinery.
Work on the project will be carried out in Rauma and Turku and is scheduled to continue until the second quarter of 2018. (Source: naval-technology.com)

AM General LLC, South Bend, Indiana, has been awarded a $2,205,926,405 firm-fixed-price contract for the production of up to 11,560 High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicle expanded capacity vehicles, associated optional equipment and contractor-unique spare parts packages for foreign military sales customers worldwide, which will be identified with each order, with the first order being for Afghanistan. One bid was solicited and one bid was received. Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Feb. 28, 2023.
