The UK Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) unit has awarded a contract to Babcock International Group for the delivery of more than 10,000 different types of consumable items to the British Royal Navy. The new deal is estimated to be worth approximately £107m over the next seven years. Babcock International is expected to supply a large number of individual items to all current and future Royal Navy vessels during this period, including the newest Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers. The contracted items will be required for the everyday maintenance and operation of the vessels, and will include electrical cable, straps, small valves, bearings, gaskets, pipes, pistons, pumps, motors and electrical components. Cohort, the independent technology group, is pleased to announce that its subsidiary EID has been awarded a contract by the Portuguese Navy for the supply of Integrated Communications systems to the Tejo Class Coastal Patrol Vessels, worth a total of €4.6m. The contract encompasses the supply of radio equipment, ICCS, integration engineering and logistic services. The contract also includes additional supplies for the second batch of the Viana do Castelo Oceanic Patrol Vessels, currently being built in Portugal.

The U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has notified the Congress that the Government of Switzerland has requested the possible sale of a Service Life Extension Program for its F/A-18C/D aircraft to include up to fifty (50) Multifunctional Information Distribution System Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS JTRS) with Concurrent Multi-Net 4 (CMN-4) capability; fifty (50) ARC-210 GEN 5 RT-1900A(C) radios w/Second Generation Anti-Jam Tactical UHF Radio for NATO (SATURN) frequency hopping; twenty (20) Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) Night Vision Cueing Display (NVCD); CIT Automated Dependence Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out; software enhancements to the APG-73 radar; improvements to the F/A-18 Software Configuration Set (SCS) 29C; and sustainment for the ALQ-165 Airborne Self Protection Jammer (ASPJ) system. Operational support for these modifications will be provided through upgrades to the purchaser’s unique Mission Data System. Also included are: system integration and testing; software development and integration; support equipment; spare and repair parts; maintenance personnel and pilot familiarization training; software support; publications and technical documents; U.S. Government and contractor technical assistance; and other related elements of logistics and program support. The estimated total case value is $115m. The principal contractors will be the Boeing Company, McDonnell Douglas Corporation, St. Louis, MO; Data Link Solutions LLC, Wayne, NJ; Rockwell Collins, Cedar Rapids, IA; Rockwell Collins ESA Vision System LLC, Fort Worth, TX. 01 Aug 17. Lockheed Martin Global Inc., Owego, New York, is being awarded $158,500,000 for modification P00006 to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract (N68335-16-C-0110). This modification for Phase 2 mission system refresh efforts includes upgrades to the mission computers, acoustic equipment, armament/ordnance systems, and displays and controls on eight P-3C aircraft for the government of Germany under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program. It will provide for new mission and acoustic system avionics with a number of German-specific components to satisfy current and future North Atlantic Treaty Organization operational requirements.
