10 Jul 17. Finland, Bittium TAC WIN agreement. Bittium and the Finish defence forces are set to sign a framework agreement for the delivery of Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network (TAC WIN) products covering years 2018-2020, the company announced on 6 July. The agreement will see the Finnish forces place purchase orders for Bittium TAC WIN system products each year. Bittium’s software-defined radio based TAC WIN system forms the backbone for tactical data transfer with the Finnish forces, with TAC WIN providing broadband IP network connections for mobile communication stations and command posts. Bittium TAC WIN is wireless broadband network system designed for military and public safety use. 10 Jul 17. Cohort company EID has finalised and signed a 7.5m Euro contract with the Portuguese Ministry of Defence (Portuguese MoD) to provide software-defined digital multiband, multirole, and multimode tactical PRC-525 radio systems for the Portuguese Army. Deliveries will take place between 2017 and 2023The PRC-525, which is widely recognised for its HF/VHF/UHF multiband and full IP capabilities, is already in service in Portuguese Army and Navy. The initial contract, amounting to around 40m Euros, was completed in 2015 and the new contract confirms the excellent performance and reliability of the EID radios, which have been extensively used in operational scenarios, exercises and peace keeping missions. The new supply of radios will be integrated in the shelters of Army’s Tactical Communication and Information System (SIC-T), a programme that is part of the Military Programming Law approved in May 15 and will be launched shortly.
10 Jul 17. The Government of the United Kingdom (UK) has requested a possible sale of up to two thousand seven hundred forty-seven (2,747) Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV). This possible sale also includes baseline integration kits, basic issue item kits, B-kit armor, engine arctic kits, fording kits, run-flat kits, spare tire kits, silent watch kits, power expansion kits cargo cover kits, maintainer and operator training, U.S. government technical assistance and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistics and program support. Total estimated cost is $1.035bn. The principal contractor of this sale will be Oshkosh Defense, LLC, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The procured items will require minimum contractor support until the foreign customer can eventually transition to internal organic support. 11 Jul 17. Romania – Patriot Air Defense System and Related Support and Equipment. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Romania for Patriot air defense systems, related support and equipment. The estimated cost is $3.9bn. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale on July 10, 2017.
The Government of Romania has requested the possible sale of seven (7) Patriot Configuration-3+ Modernized Fire Units consisting of:
— seven (7) AN/MPQ-65 radar sets,
— seven (7) AN/MSQ-132 engagement control stations,
— thirteen (13) antenna mast groups,
— twenty-eight (28) M903 launching stations,
— fifty-six (56) Patriot MIM-104E Guidance Enhanced Missile-TBM (GEM-T) missiles,
— one hundred and sixty-eight (168) Patriot Advanced Capabilty-3 (PAC-3) Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) missiles, and
— seven (7) Electrical Power Plants (EPP) III.
